Helped my father pick out a laptop at Best Buy in West Simsbury, CT location. Staff was knowledgeable & friendly. They weren't pushy or overbearing.

I've spent 3 1/2 hours trying to get help from Best Buy with products they advised me about and told me how to hook up while I was still in the store. When I bought their brand and hookedit up, they wouldn't talk to me without an appointment with the Geek Squad at over $100, It's a simple case of hooking up some cables. But they sent me on a telephone menu runaround for the whole afternoon and one person would say they would transfer me to someone who would help and then they would transfer me to an automated menu that I couldn't get out of, another would say they would send me to someone to help and I would have to repeat "in home agent" 8 times til someone picked up - and sent me to still another person who said they don't help over the phone. This is the last time I buy from Best Buy. They really should change their name to Worst Rip-Off. Catch 22!
No Price Match unless your closest best buy store is within 25 miles of the competitor. I thought price match is over online and that was it. Waste of time in best buy i might as well buy in office depot with lower price and 20% off.
I purchased cell phones a television and games and the service was great. I would recommend best buy because their service is what they say it is. They're attentive and goes out of their way to make sure you are satisfied.

My husband bought a new IPad + program for $800 on Friday. On Saturday he somehow locked himself out while trying to set it up. He went right back to the store for someone to go over what to do. He was told it would be a $40 charge even though it had had it for less than 24 hrs. He was told on buying it that he had 2 weeks to return it. He said fine, if they wouldn't help him, he would return it. The women in returns asked him why he was returning it - he told her and she said she wasn't suppose to but she would credit him. He said you will give up an $800 sale for a $40 charge. Needless to say we will never deal again with a company that doesn't support their sales!
You better open anything that you buy from them, becouse if its damage they wont change it or return your money.
Sometimes there is no substitute for going into a store and speaking with a knowledgable tech person. When we upgraded our main tv a few years back (old one quit right before Christmas, during peak gaming and viewing season) we wasted a pile of money on a useless cable (junk from China) we bought on Amazon. Thing promised to marry the interfaces, but it did not. (Sometimes it is difficult to figure out what you are buying online.) Guy at Best Buy helped us select the correct cable (he did kind of giggle at the thing we bought), and upgraded dvd player (no, we couldn't still use the old one like we'd been promised). Have also been happy with online purchases from here. Lamented the loss of Circuit City, but Best Buy, in my opinion, has risen to the task.
Customer service is horrendous. Good luck with finding someone who actually knows the products and/or can answer a simple question. Make sure you know exactly what you want and that it is a good deal. You can find an OK deal on occasion. My store does not answer the phone, Ever! It will ring indefinitely. While you're in the store, however, there are salespeople everywhere, just standing around. I give this chain 3 more years until the Geek Squad unit is the last remnant before collapse. There is no value-add to this chain.The 800 number reps do not know their stuff either as I had ordered a mobile installation and scheduled service... of course the unit was incorrect for the vehicle and the time allotted was insufficient. Then the tech stated that he left at a certain time and would be unable to complete the installation... nice customer service, especially after THEIR mistake.
I ordered a computer from Best Buy. It cost $1760. After a month I still have not received anything. Apparently Purolator has it, but for some reason they won't deliver it. Maybe they lost it? I contacted Best Buy about the problem. They said I could get a refund, but not until Purolator delivers the computer back to Best Buy. I need the money to order a computer from someone else. Why should I have to wait for Purolator to deliver the computer to Best Buy. I have been waiting a month for Purolater to deliver it to me. It is not my problem if Best Buy ever gets their property back. They are the ones that chose to give it to Puro-later in the first place. Best Buys business practices should not be legal. If they are, that is.
I love buying from Best Buy. They have good products, a good computer Geek Squad, and fare prices when there is a sale. However, if you want a store agent to help you, find someone who knows the product you are purchasing. My last visit I asked if the Philip Hue starter kit had everything I needed to start up. He said no, that I needed to purchase an additional Ethernet cable. NOT TRUE.
Bought a whole line of Samsung kitchen appliances from Mays Landing, NJ store (Refrigerator, dishwasher and stove). Warranty on brand new fridge was for a year. Decided to decline their "extended" warranty not expecting appliances to be as poor of quality as they were. 2 years on the nose after purchase fridge stopped cooling, over a $1000 would cost to repair. Came back to store, spoke to store manager Mike, zero accountability or desire to help. Basically he kept on saying once out of store they have no responsibility for product. That is all well and fine, but I expect more out of a company I've been very loyal over many years (he acknowledged it too because we could clearly see my Best Buy purchases the last few years). Based on many reviews I found online I strongly believe Samsung refrigerators are lemons and should not be pedaled by reputed retailers. Unless Best Buy or Samsung make it right never again am I purchasing from either.
I Have their Geek Squad "Ask an Agent" on line support. DON'T BUY IT! I've spent the last 10 hours dealing this inept service. Calls were cut off, Online work being incomplete and done wrong, being dropped by CS and while they were on my PC. Supervisors and technicians not following thu, etc., etc., etc. The WORST tech support nightmare I've EVER had!

Overall as a company, I would give bestbuy a decent rating. They have lots of great products and their geeksquad is very good for repairs and their extended warranties. However, let me advise against preordering from BestBuy. I recently preordered a Sony camera that was in high demand 2 months in advance. I paid for it 2 months in advanced. Then, when my sony camera arrived, I received a phone call to pick it up. When I arrived at the store to pick up the camera which I had paid for 2 months ago, they said "sorry, looks like we sold it to someone else". You will have to wait another 1-2 months to get it or you can just have your money back. Seriously?!?! This is not the level of customer service one would expect purchasing a camera costing thousands of dollars. They sold a camera that I had already paid for and it was "locked up" behind a gate... and I was told to just come pick it up. I saved the voicemail and had to play it to a manager. Overall I have had decent experiences with BB in the past, but I will never again preorder anything from them.
I bought a TV online thru Best Buy and they promised delivery on 12/28/2017. Now they tell me it wont be until possibly 1/12/2018. This is false advertising.
They will not cancel the order. I will not wait 2 additional weeks for something they promised to be here today.

I still can't believe this happened. I purchased a Skyline Bed frame online from these guys, the bed was listed as available. Paid my $1400. After a month of waiting and not a sound from them I called. Was promised the bed will be shipped within a week. A week later called again. Was told the bed will be shipped shortly by " the third party manufacturer/shipper" a phone number of which apparently I may not get. Checked my order status online and saw changed to "cancelled". No phone call, no courtesy email to let me know, nothing! Oh, and the "Contact seller" button is now greyed out. SERIOUSLY?! I did not want to believe all the horrible reviews about this company but they turned out to be completely true.
I could have gotten the bed some place else instead of having Best Buy hold on to my money for a month only to cancel my order without as much as an email to let me know. There are so many ppl now complaining about this very same scam that we should really file class action suit to have them pay us interest for "lending" them our money for months.

Answer: I would write a letter to your state's attorney general. There are laws regarding taking advantage of senior citizens. I would specifically ask for documentation from Best Buy in which your grandmother gave them permission to recycle her 18 month old computer. If they cannot produce that document they may be in very big trouble with the state's attorney general. I would also write the BBB and contact your public officials. This I think would be paramount to theft if your grandmother did not give them permission to recycle her computer. On the flip side of things, ASUS is a very good machine. My son is a computer scientist and swears by ASUS. I have three ASUS machines one of which is over 5 years old and it is a workhorse. Unless something significant happens in the ASUS business world, I will continue to buy ASUS!
