To start, I don't remember signing up for an Audible membership. I recently discovered that I have been charged for the past five months.
I have already canceled my account, but Audible is still charging me.
It's really disappointing. I have lost trust in Audible and will be cautious about any future dealings with them. I would rather avoid any further involvement with Audible.
Be careful when dealing g with audible.
Since Amazon acquired Audible it has went to hell! The latest action from Audible is the final one for me. I have been an Audible member for over 15 years and paid for over 200 titles. I am/was a PC listener. Until January 2023 used the PC app to listen to my audiobooks. I was able to download my books easily and listen whenever. In January Audible (Amazon) removed PC support for Windows. I do not have any other Audible capable device and damn sure won't be purchasing a special device for Audible audiobooks. I will be filing with the FCC for fraud. Audible has collected money for the hundreds of books I have purchased and now have prevented me from accessing them.
I was trying to purchase one book and it signed me up for a membership and then there was no contact available at all. What a joke! Money stealing jerks.
I was very excited to have an audible account but when I actually got one i realized that the promises for an unlimited experience are falsly advertised and the experience is in fact very limited... The audio books I did listen to had great quality and everything I just wish the conditions on their website were more clear and not just a bait and switch..
Because i have not had a subscription for 4 years, Audible can't reset my phone number and i have now lost access to my account and all the content that i paid a lot of money for. They know i have paid them, and wont give my credits to buy the books again.
Books cost similar to purchasing the physical book.
Unexplained charges occur on the bank account. There is difficulty canceling the ' subscription '.
App. When Audible loses the rights to a book it just quietly goes away. No notification. I realized when re-reading some old books that I have already purchased them in 2013. They quietly went away and I ended up re-purchasing the same books 10 years later. So they sell you the same book multiple times. Great business model but rather dishonest. I contacted customer service but the issue was not resolved.
They blocked my account for no reason. They require documents from the bank that this is really my bank card. All possible statements and documents were provided, but they are still not enough. They just stole my account and all the purchased books on it. Thank you.
DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE AT ALL UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE ROBBED.
I searched through the science section, but most books were self-help or books on how to grow your own magic mushrooms. However, by far the worst is the overwhelming number of creationist literature included under science. How can I trust the rest of the books to be of good quality if Audible includes pseudoscience literature of such dubious origin? The history selection is slightly better, but I am already hesitant to trust the selection since Audible has shown that they employ such poor vetting standards. I can't believe that in this day and age, they feature so many books preaching that evolution does not exist and that genetics supports creationist theories. This is laughable. Worst, this discredits Audible as a source of quality literature.
I signed up for free trial but when it came time to cancel it was a ridiculous pain figuring out how to. I had to google it several times to find the right place. I was left extremely frustrated by the experience. What an obnoxious waste of time!
I had an account with Audible but recently canceled my membership. At the time of my membership I had four credits. Unbeknownst to me when you cancel you lose your credits. Audible does not go out of their way to tell you this but if you look at the fine print they do have this posted. I won't ever use their services again!
As soon as I cancelled by AUS subscription they started charging me even more for a US subscription that I never signed up for. Have contacted them and they've cancelled it saying they dont know how it would have happened... will see if I get a refund. It's a scam and not worth the hassle.
Say what you like about Amazon, they know how to run a company well and they do right by their customers. So I'm totally baffled that they own Audible which is going down the tubes. Whenever I call customer service, the connection is so bad I can barely hear it understand the agent. The last two times I called I was hung up on. As if it was like calling a governmental agency where the employees couldn't care less. The automated message preceding the connection to a live person actually asks customers not to abuse the employees. That let's you know how frustrated the callers are. My thing with audible is 7 out of 10 times that I try to use a credit to buy a book, an error message pops up that says the book is not available in my country. Ha! My country is the US: southern California. They fixed the problem once but it's back to that again, so the credits just pile up and once you get to 10 credits if you don't use them they start taking them away. It's like damn people. Life is hard enough. If you fixed the bugs in your system maybe you wouldn't have to ask your customers not to abuse your employees. I mean no excuse for verbally abusing anyone but also no excuse for running a shoddy operation where customers feel like they're getting screwed constantly.
Now I'm just trying to buy ten books with my ten credits so I can "gift" them to a family member, and then resign. Thank you to the person who advised to make sure to get an email confirmation once I close my account. I don't feel like Amazon cares about this company and it has farmed it out to overseas folks who don't have the support, or equipment to do a good job, and has burned out the best if their employees.
I cancelled my subscription three months ago, but I continue to get billed each month. I phone customer support every month and they claim to have cancelled my subscription, but they haven't done so, so I'm constantly being charged. Even this time, I asked them to send me any documentation that would prove they had cancelled my membership, but they don't have this kind of facility. Even though he put my call on hold and isn't forwarding it to their manager, this is extremely nasty. Now you can see what a dismal service they are offering.
Csr asked the same questions over and over never listening to the information the 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd time given. Then on one question, she asked I politely began to answer it and she started totally talking over me while I was answering her question. I told her I wanted a supervisor. She was gone, probably put me on mute but I thought she was transferring me to a supervisor, she wasn't she came back on the line and asked that question for the 5th time the one she had spoken over me when I was answering it for the 4th time. I asked, where is the supervisor and she hung up on me.
Amazon has the market on audio books and uses extremely difficult processes for the user to change, understand, or cancel trials. The user interface sends users on a stressful journey of leads. This is very purposefully deceptive and yet, the Amazon of a company gets by with it. Cancelling Amazon account.
I will also add that this site, Sitejabber, does something similarly deceptive in that after a review is written, they then want you to form an account. Nothing upfront to let you know this.
There was np cancellations options in the app, on audible.com or amazon.com. I ended up having to call a US number from Norway.
Audible = Parasite.
Really easy to subscribe but since subscription are only on auto renew, when it comes to cancel, that's when it gets funny. Cancellation is time consuming & stressful. You cannot cancel through the the application, instead you have to make different phone calls. For instance I called Audible to cancel, they took all my information, asked my personal information and spent 12 minutes on the phone with them, but then I was told to call Apple instead because they said they weren't able to cancel my membership. I had to then call Apple and spend more time there. Why would they make it so difficult to cancel when this could easily be done though their app?
The only thought that comes to mind is: Parasites.
Answer: I've had the same problem, they charge me from the US AND Australia so I can't even cancel cos no access to these sites. If you manage to contact them, they should refund you
