They did initial "free exam" then wanted to charge me. They quoted me $1200 for teeth cleaning. Lesson learned-check all reviews and BBB before going.
After confirming with both the scheduling dept and local office staff that no records need to be transferred from previous office and all initial scans were covered by our insurance, we got to the appointment and were told it would be over $150 for xrays per person bc they are not due and they don't accept scans from other offices.
The 1 person they did scans on, I later received a bill for $162 for xrays not covered by ins. After having to re schedule all other appointments for a date that will cover all xrays. Everyone missed half day of work/school for absolutely no reason. Appointments cancelled by staff after verbal confirmation only days prior. Refusing cleanings unless unnecessary work is performed by their office prior to, expensive work not covered by insurance. Go anywhere but an aspen dental office, read and believe the BBB reviews, listen when friends tell you this place is a corporate scam.
I made an appointment to have a broken tooth pulled but was subjected to a litany of very painful X-rays that were required by Aspen Dental. I have a Mandibular tori In my bottom jaw which makes having physical x-rays very painful for me. After the technician was completed with the many X rays, I was taken into another room, where I believe it was a dental hygienist who checked my teeth. I was then taken into another room where a "sales" person gave me a breakdown of all the procedures Aspen Dental wanted me to buy into. Nothing I had initially come in for was completed on visit #1. During visit #2, my blood pressure was taken and it was high. The dentist made mention that the blood pressure that had been taken during my first visit was much lower than it had was that day. I told him no one had taken my blood pressure during my first visit, and that the information in my chart had fabricated. He told me at that time that if I could give him evidence that I had 3 consecutive days of an acceptable blood pressure, he would extract the broken tooth. I was able to give him the requested/required information, and he extracted the broken tooth about a week later. A few weeks after the tooth extraction, I called Aspen Dental to schedule an appointment to have a couple cavities filled and was told by a dental assistant the dentist would not fill any cavities until I had $3000 worth of cleaning performed. I had no intention of paying for a procedure I did not want. I was very irritated at that time because, it is my belief that I was in charge of my medical decisions, not Aspen Dental. I would NOT suggest that anyone use the Wichita Falls, TX Aspen Dental.
After multiple red flags during my visits over the course of two years, I decided to part ways with Aspen and establish care with a more reputable office before my braces come off and investing thousands of dollars in cosmetic procedures.
When I requested my records, they told me I would have to come in and fill out a form. I requested it be emailed to me which they did, even though on the top of their records release form it states the patient requesting their own records are NOT required to fill out the form (I attached the form) I signed it regardless, requesting charts and X-rays… all records. They only sent me my x-rays, and now are refusing to send me my chart records. They told me I would have to drive the 70 miles to pick them up in person. After doing my research, I found that I had the right to receive my records in the manner in which I requested. That not complying with my request, is in fact, a HIPAA violation. Per the website recommendation I reminded them of my rights and again requested they email or mail me my chart records. No response. I also called and left a message. Now when I call, I go straight to voicemail. I called their corporate office for a resolution and they said they would open a ticket, but I have not heard back as of yet and wasn't satisfied with the outcome of that call either. I can file a complaint with HHS but will have to wait 30 days to file a formal complaint.
They pre-charged me for my teeth cleaning (another questionable practice) on this last visit, but they didn't clean my teeth. They said they would issue a full refund. I anticipated it would be an issue and contacted my credit card company just in case. They did issue a refund, but still shorted me the full amount. That's not my biggest concern, but is still a concern and shows a serious lack of integrity on their part even though the unissued amount is only $10. It's just another indication of their dishonest and questionable practices. I won't go into to the list of untruths and discrepancies giving me pause that lead me the to the decision to go with a more reputable establishment, that would take several more paragraphs.
What Aspen Dental HAS done, is validate my very real concerns. I highly recommend doing extensive research on Aspen Dental before entrusting them with your oral care. I'm fortunate that I've only being inconvenienced but that in itself goes to show a disregard for my time, which IS valuable.
They are not accredited with Better Business Bureau and have a one star rating on their review page. I filed a formal complaint with them as well.
Beware of Aspen Dental in Christiansburg unless you want to fork over an arm and a leg for routine dental care. They don't accept most dental insurance including local companies and charge way more than dental insurance covers padding their pockets. For example, do you need a routine cleaning? Expect to pay nearly $200 out of pocket UP FRONT and AFTER insurance. How about a tooth extraction - nearly $400 out of pocket AFTER insurance. Trying to change a dental plan or routine. According to the staff you are locked in for life and subject to the higher prices. Want to get perio treatment? Give them $2,000 up front AFTER insurance for 3 treatments. Want to be subject to continuous upselling by the dentist and staff for cosmetic procedures? Look no farther! No wonder people don't go the dentist. I highly recommend staying away from this office and finding a reasonable dentist that adheres to insurance limits and offers only what you ask for. Horrible experience.
I made an appt for just a regular cleaning at aspen dental. I am up to date on my cleanings and X-rays. They took me in took X-rays, and did a bone loss test. I've had bone loss in my two front bottom teeth for as long as I can remember. I believe it's because of my tounge ring I had when I was younger. These people would not do a regular cleaning for me they told me I had to pay $2500 for a deep cleaning and they refused to do a regular cleaning. I have delta dental ppo and have never been told I can't get a cleaning because I need a deep cleaning. That I have to pay $2500 out of pocket by the way. I hope more people come forward about this price gouging they have going on over there. I think a class action lawsuit is coming for them! Thanks for reading!
I had excellent service with Dr Reyes and Miss Diane and Emille. The problem lies in the bill. They charged my insurance one rate and me another. Then when I tried to get it taken care of had to make appt to speak to billing about it not the time to today. Really? Ya want my money upfront before work is even done and 6 mo in advance! The office manager was really nice when I first went in and now it like they don't want anything to do with you! Shame on you for treating ppl this way and I wonder how many ppl you have actually taken money not owed to you!
Went in to get a crown re-glued,Ended up having a $1600 $1600 "Deep Cleaning" I did'nt need. Total rip-off. They then line up "financing" for 32% interest.
I waited over a month for first appointment to have them change it to 7:00am in the morning. I asked for it to stayat time made and was told no, take it or leave it, when I went to the Dayton Mall office a doctor came out and told me the staff i not spoke to yet was scared and intimidaded by me, a hurten,132 lb 63 year old man, the 4 large people giving mr ugly looks while the docotr insulted me for asking what happened to my appointment, they said they just didnt want to work in me with no reason given, bad place to go!
Shoddy dentures at premium prices. Over $2,000.00 for full dentures and the bottom plate broke after only 7 months. Lousy fit to start with (2 months of pain and deformation), now this and to top it all off, I called Fri night telling them that a crack had started. By Sat morning, it broke completely. Expected a call Monday morning, but by 10am, no call so I went to the office. No technician to do the repair (death in her family, my condolences to her and her family.) I will have to wait at least a week. Large business with NO back up plans for staff absences. Thank goodness I had a back up plan, 20 yr old dentures from Affordable Dentures that aren't broken and lasted through over 10 yrs!
This place is a scam. My insurance is Medicare Advantage, which has a little bit of dental and a little vision, so I thought it was the right pick for insurance coverage. Medicare Advantage doesn't let you pay out of pocket, and the dentist will get into trouble if they see someone that has Medicare Advantage. When I looked at doctor's offices that take Medicare Advantage the only one in town was Aspen Dental. My original dentist(who is a family dentist that I trusted), stopped taking Medicare Advantage because it was so hard to get the money from Medicare Advantage. I went to Aspen dental, one of my front teeth is a crown and it's breaking. I know I need it replaced. They wanted to replace it with an implant, which probably is what it needs. The also want to replace all of my upper teeth with implant's, my teeth are a liitle bit wiggly. They wanted to charge me $9,000 dollar"s just for the replacement of my front tooth. I spoke with the Aspen Dental person that set's up the payment plan's.They rush you through the process because your so emtional with what they just told you about what's wrong your teeth. She set me up with their in house Payment plan, which they will do for anyone that walks in the door. Bad credit? No problem. My credit is fine. By the time she put in discount's and my insurance it came to about $5,000 which she put on a five year payment plan. Thank God it was the weekend. I had two days to think about it over the weekend. I don't have any bills that I'm paying off at this time. On Saturday I was in such a bad black mood because I set up this payment plan. I could't even get out of bed from the stress. They give you 5 days to cancel the contract. I canceled it on Monday. My mood changed to being totally happy. I'm switching to Original Medicare, which doesn't have any dental, but I can pay out of pocket. I'm going to see my regular dentist in January when I change my policy. My front tooth is probably going to break before then, but I'm going to wait and look horrible until January and pay out of pocket. Don't be fooled. All they want is money, and they don't care how they do it. I would give them no star's, but I want people to get see this review.
The schedulers, office manager, and font desk are rude, and disorganized. They canceled a wisdom tooth extraction with no reason and never called with the cancellation, when asked they just said there are no notes in the chart, and we will need to schedule for November. This is a case where we are on antibiotics every other month for an infection and physicians are concerned of antibiotic resistance. Aspen dental is aware of this fact. They did not call us regarding the insurance estimate we had to track a person down through customer service and yet the chart was not updated to represent insurance. There is no follow up in this office! There is no customer service in this office!
3 teeth pulled at one time...which resulted in infection that required two rounds of antibiotics.,.ill fitting dentures that fall out; decayed teeth fell out instead of dentist filling or removing. I have pictures that I will send to corporate office. I cannot chew food; missing teeth; dentist in Brenham Texas was awful. I want everything fixed and done properly.
The Merritt Island office in Florida is HORRIBLE. My 97 year old father decided he wanted dentures and they gladly took him up on it. OK, no problem, Afterall it was his decision to go through with it. However, my dad sadly passed away August 10th BEFORE he could get all the work done. He paid ALL of it up front, over 7800.00 dollars. I have asked for a refund ONLY of what my father could not have completed due to his death. Aspen Dental of Merritt Island, Florida will NOT answer my calls, emails or certified letter. The corporate office said to send the DC and a refund will be issued. This is not true. They are money hungry, ruthless, heartless and they are crooks for the way they are handling the situation. This is a lowdown dirty way to handle business and treat the patient and patients family. I do not think it is unreasonable to ask on behalf of my father's estate to be refunded for what he paid for, but could not get because he passed away. They know how to contact me. They know I am the daughter of Mr. Anderson.
I have been a live for 52 years, and this is the very worse dentist I have ever had been to. First, I showed up at 9 am for a 10 am appointment for an infected tooth along with sever pain. The lady had no idea how to find my insurance until 1030am which I missed my appointment and was asked to come back a 2. I came back at 2 pm and didnt get seen until 3 pm. I got my x-rays and was put in a room for another 30 minutes. Then a Hygienist came in and started to check my teeth, which I didnt come in for a exam. While she was doing the unwanted job she was very fast and poor at her job so much that she gave two teeth that I dont even have in my head because I was born without two top teeth. Then I waited another 15 to 20 minutes for the dentist to check out my infected tooth and told me that he couldnt do anything to relieve my pain except give me more meds which he forgot to write the prescription. Then I was put in another room for another 20 minutes. Then a lady came and got me to give me my care plan. I was in complete amazement about the cost of $856 plus $1823 after the insurance. I also received quote for deep cleaning for $1312 for the first half and $1424 for the second half of the cleaning when the hygienist when was incompetent by giving numbers for teeth that was not present for my entire life. Along with $112 two fillings. They said I could not get my pain relived until I paid the hygienist bill and I had to wait for a specialist to do the root canal. To top it off I got an email thanking for my visit for implants which I never inquired about. So I decide to get a second opinion the next day. Which I am glad I did because I got my pain relieved by a competent dentist for $900 for a root canal with a crown include. This dentist office is complete scam and takes advantage of the elderly people. Beware and stay clear the bad reviews about this office is Definity true.
Office manager MARY SALERNO took $2,795 cash from me plus my ininsurance to have work on my teeth.only half the work was done and my next appointment they said MARY SALERNO no longer worked there and refused to complete my work unless i paid the money again.SCAM - there was a few orther people complaing the same time i was.i never got my money back or heard from anyone from aspen dental -SCAM
I had $9000 worth of Dental Work done. Denat work was fine. Paid for it in full prior to work being done. 1 month after work completed got a bill for $1316. Went to office (Tried calling 888 number and got no help from anyone). Office said yes I had paid in full and was issued a receipt. I was upset over getting bill and told them specifically that I didn't want to get another bill saying I owed money. I was assured that would not happen. Today I got another bill this time for $1088. Called again. On hold for over 30 minutes. Spoke with a woman who said she could not help me. Her records show a $0 Balance. Couldn't figure out why I got a bill. My worry now is that I will soon be contacted by a Collection Agency saying I have not paid. Dental work fine. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT A TERM THEY ARE FAMILIAR WITH. Not worth the headache of dealing with their office. Plenty of other Dental Offices that are willing to help you.
Because of Aspen Dental in Oneonta Ny I am going to be spending $14,000 to fix what they've done and hopefully regain some of the self confidence I lost in their office…. They never fixed the problem and only made it worse and then sent me a letter stating I am no longer allowed to go to any of their offices. I WISH I would have known them what I know now…. Horrible place…..
Poor fitting dentures and got mad when I wanted them fixed. High turnover, multiple dentists. I tried to explain what I had been thru with previous dentist but they didn't care. My upper was sharp all the way around yet this was my fault? They offered me my money back if I walked out without the dentures. Who knows how long the refund would take or how much it would be for. I had learned by this time getting my money back may or may not happen. So I was expected to leave their office with no teeth, knowing it would take weeks or months to get new ones somewhere else. My health was at stake and they knew it. The continual lies, broken appointments, bad fitting dentures is just a crime. They don't care!
I went to Aspen Dentist in Kernersville NC for an exam and cleaning. The dental assistant wanted to put a blue light in my mouth to check for cancer for $30. There is no such device. I waited 22 minutes for the dentist to show. He then took me to another room where I waited 35 minutes for the office/finance lady She tried to charge me $210 and sneak a $130 toothbrush and add it to a $80 copay. I later checked and the deep cleaning and exam are fully covered by insurance. Then I had to come back the next day for the cleaning. The Ins co. Said the DDS should refund the bogus copay. Please do not send me a scripted response. The Aspen company will not contact anybody back.
