I am convinced that AM has fake profiles. The site works by paying a fee to have a profile then pay per message sent or collect message received. I have received many collect messages from women and have responded in kind to get nothing back. Your profile pictures are not protected at all. The way the site is set up, if you give permission to someone to view your pictures it automatically opens their pics. Unless this is a fake profile designed to do so. I have had women send me e-mails without even looking at my profile, it shows you the activity. That clearly shows it's fraud. Wish someone would investigate the fraud and return my money.

I am 45 years old. I was expecting to meet women my age for a fling. Almost all profile views and messages I get are from 20 yo gorgeous women nowhere near where I live who are all ready to meet me. How can we meet so far away? No idea. Why on earth would a woman want to jump in the sack with a 45 yo stranger across the country when they are good looking enough to find a younger guy right down the street? Because the girls are not real. Most women I messaged around my age has their profile mysteriously disappear in a few weeks with No response. I got only a couple responses from women all together and they wanted my private pic only which shows exactly how I look as public pic. It's a total scam. I got my money stolen.
UPDATE: I changed my profile to remove the auto buy of new points. Starting that day my profile views dropped to virtually zero and all unsolicited incoming messages stopped. Now there is a lot less women to contact (use points). The first day I had messages about every couple minutes with an incomplete profile. I have a well crafted profile now and nothing. Hmmm.

I HAVE SENT MANY LETTERS TO WOMEN ON THIS SITE WITH A 1% RESPONSE RATE I BELIEVE THAT MANY ARE FREE MEMBERS OR ARE HOOKERS USING THE SITE TO GET CLIENTS BUT I HAVE RECEIVED NO RESPONSES EVEN THOUGH THE WOMEN I CORRESPOND WITH ARE ONLINE CONSTANTLY.ONE OF TWO THINGS IS OCCURRING.THE WOMEN ARE FAKE OR INCREDIBLY SELF CENTERED AND COULD CARE LESS ABOUT SOMEONE WHO HAS PAID TO RESPOND TO THEM AND DESERVES AT LEAST A RESPONSE EVEN IF IT IS NEGATIVE!

Firstly, if you pay by paypal the term Ashley madison will show up on your paypal account (you just need to click the link) and if you are unlucky like me your wife/husband will see it. That's the first complete lie they tell. Next they will ensure they can dip into your paypal account anytime, so make sure you go into the settings and turn off the reoccurring payments.
Then there is the fact that the site is a complete rip off. You need very deep pockets to find a data on this site. I regret every thinking of using this site. Its bull$#*!.

I've been on AM for many years, and from the sidelines, have been able to see the site change into the BS it is today (in 2015). There are very, very few 'actual' women on the site. The majority of women are hookers, strippers or fabricated by AM (ghost profiles - meaning you can capture an image and search the internet only to find the same 'fake' woman on escort listings, porn promos, etc).
This site has eroded from its original intent and has eroded to just another escort platform. SAVE YOUR MONEY - THIS ISNT THE SITE IT ONCE WAS.

Avoid this place at all costs. I created an account less then 5 days ago and in that period I have received 4 emails. The problem with them is that I have to but credits to spend to see what they say. First Flag. 2nd even bigger problem is that looking at the who viewed me list not one of them viewed my account. So private people or Ashley Madison employee sending me emails trying to con me into buying credits?

Finally to completely delete my account they want to charge me $19.99 That has got to be considered extortion. You can hide your account for free but I wonder how hidden it is. Thankfully I'm single so this can't come back to haunt me. But others certainly won't be so lucky.

As a guy wondering if this site is worth a $49 investment, I have read many reviews here. Here is my problem. Are you 50+ years old and 50+ pounds overweight and expect to be meeting hot 25 year old's here? What city are you in? These details and more make a huge difference as to what you're going to be able to find. I've done well over the years on Craigslist and Tinder meeting hot chicks, and I'm a 48 year old HWP balding dude with not a whole lot of game. I still think after reading up on these reviews that $49 may be worth responding to all the emails that fill my inbox after just a couple of days, but I digress. I live in Austin, TX. There are a TON of hot, available women here that are either attached or not. I think a lot of guys on sites like these are similar to me; they are not married, just looking to meet a fwb for an ongoing thing and/or nsa for a one time hook up and are not necessarily looking for someone who is married or attached. Someone who is not going to fall for you and start talking about leaving their husband/boyfriend, whatever. I have lost count of how many times that has happened to me via CL or Tinder, even though I've always been very clear about only being in this for a fwb/nsa type arrangement.
That's why it's difficult to read these bad reviews and make an informed decision. If the guys writing these are older (40+), fat, balding, boring, married men... I get why they are not going to be hooking up much here. I also appreciate all the info on how Ashley Madison obviously $#*!s men over by getting hot women to engage men for free accounts, the ridiculous $12.50 for 30 minutes of chat, the way they keep charging men's credit cards, etc. The way to avoid the later is do the gift card deal.
I saw an episode of Amy Schumer the other day and she had the $#*! that created this website on as a guest bragging about how it's a billion dollar company now. And yet they can't even respond to all the bad reviews here?!?!? That say's a lot! I'm still not sure if they are going to get the $49 out of me, but even if that $49 gets me just one hookup or a short lived fwb with a hot chick that isn't a total psycho, it's a win win for me.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
