Take your order for fridge freezer.
On day of delivery when it doesn't come and you call them, they say that they didn't have it in stock after all when ordered and it would now be January the 2nd.
When you explain that you now do not have anything for a family of 5 over the Christmas period as we removed faulty one yesterday, we get an insulting offer of £50 comp to "go and buy a small on to tide us over"
Seriously bad service and blaming a glitch in their system over black Friday weekend is not acceptable! Shame on them leaving a family with the stress of this in these times.
Total fraud taking orders you can't honour.
I ordered a Macbook Air from AO in the Black Friday sales. It was going to save me £125. Some days later I received a text from them asking me to send a copy of my bank statement to them. I did not - I've never had a request like that other than from scammers. I didn't really know what to think - in fact I wondered whether a scammer had managed to hack into their ordering system. The computer was not delivered today as promised and after waiting 20 minutes on the phone to speak to someone, I was told that they had indeed requested my bank statement and wouldn't deliver the computer until they had it. I cancelled my order. I'm still absolutely incredulous that a supposedly bona fide company would ask for such things at a time when more crime is from fraud than anything else. I've bought from AO before. I'll never buy from them again.
Notice: I write this review on my own sole experiences use of Ao com and To not cause any deflamatory views against the company
But if you are looking at Ao please consider elsewhere, Here is why i state this?
In late feb, 2022
i purchased a Samsung Washer dryer series 6 Machine ecobubbble which Machine looked lovely in my Kitchen apartment.
Delivering was not an issues arrived few days later?
AO Team setted up machine to piping/plumbing
Week later after installation.
- Waste pipe split to machine
(No jubelee clip fitted by Ao team)
- Main pipe split also returning to an kitchen converted Pool of water.
Machine rattled and programs started to not work.
I contacted Both ao And Samsung
Samsung typically tried to charge for new piping and was no help even With 3 year Warrenty assumed on product
AO promised to change the Washer Dryer
Arrange a date and time
And...
This went on For a astounding
6 MONTHS!
So with excuses of
( Were out of stock for items)
(We can provide another brand Like for Like)
Just excuses after excuses
From march 1st 2022 till Wed November 30th 2022 Ao was useless
However on 29th November 2022 i got so annoyed on this issue
I contacted them and told them.
Come pick up tbis turkey applicence and give me my 800GBP i paid
They came right away two collection lads which i found very strange since compared to waiting 6 months for replacement if i played the infamous "guess the date We will deliver game" Ao staff love to play with Customers
Took away today But STILL awaiting for my money to be returned to bank account
Cancellation invoiced on account
Had high hopes for Ao but biggest lesson i have is Aviod them & Samsung These companies are lovely until they paid from you yet do nothing when you have issues (Unless you are willing to pay more)
Ao are just pratically useless
As i write this im sat listening to cheesy pop annie lennox on Ao awaiting 3 Working days to Get my money back
And for damage to home they offered me £30.00
Stay away from Ao

Bought a MacBook and then returned it. It took 3 months to collect it and when it was finally collected they claimed it was the wrong Macbook. When I asked them to return it they said it was thrown away. When i complained they told me to call the Police. I opened a small claims so hopefully will get my money back.
One of the worst companies that I bought from.
I bought a 3k item on eBay from their shop they contacted me outside of eBay asking for my driver's license & Bank statement and they kept calling and sending SMS Messages to me, after 48hours of wasting my time they dispatched the item and before the driver deliver the item they contacted DPD and asked them to return the item. This company is doing something sketchy and fishy.
A police report will be made today, I have contacted Information Commissioner's Office regarding this incident with AO.
They violated Ebay's rules, GDPR Rules, and Uk Law. And yet they still working as if nothing happened and I'm still waiting for MY MONEY.
After buying an LG washer 8/9/ 21. From AO I registered my Boots and scanned it.
No points were added, I called the number at the time of purchase for help each time I got through, the call would be put down, emails queries were also unanswered. I am unable to locate my original receipt, but have included the reminder after a year of purchase, to but extra cover.
Ordered a new Bosch dishwasher for delivery on 29th September 2022, waited all day for a smashed dishwasher to be installed by the delivery man who installed then left the house and only when I noticed that two of the buttons were broken with several large scratches was then when I noticed that the drain hose had a hole in it flooding my kitchen. Customer service did offer a discount of 37.50 if I kept the machine, I now have nothing to use and have to wait several days for them to deliver a new one, this isn't fair I have a 7 month old baby to look after... After further investigation by use of next door CCTV you can see his assistant drop the appliance then still try and install it knowing it's damaged... Very poor on all aspects, even customer service is condescending and don't care, I will be issuing a county court claim for the damage caused to my floor and kitchen units... There level of install you can see it's damaged... Installed and left the house
Just got delivery of fridge which I didn't order, fraud, scam AO.COM, be careful, customer serive doesn't want to help you find fraud. Totally scam. Careful
As useless as John Lewis in the end.
Chose them because I needed a new washing machine very urgently and they could deliver in 48 hours. JL wanted a week or two. Same price as everywhere else, reasonable fees for installation (could do it myself, couldn't be bothered) and to take the old machine away.
Score 5 stars for pre-service. Easy website to use, good communication on delivery.
Delivery itself fine - brilliant driver and assistant, machine installed fine.
PROBLEM: Paid in advance for old machine to be taken away. Driver said no room on van as we were very early 7am delivery.
He spoke to his "Driver Line" and passed the phone to me, so I spoke to them as well.
Initially I was happy to leave the machine in the back garden (we are not chavs who want used appliances out front - a security risk as well as unsightly).
BUT "Driver Line" told me they would pick up any time between 7am and 7pm the next day. Meaning having to hang around very early on a Saturday morning and all day to open the back gate for access. Getting a text 30 mins before doesn't really cut it, does it? And 2 days running as well.
Now, AO made the mistake - and it is a very regular thing, the driver tells me. The VERY LEAST you would expect is that they would bend over backwards to find a confirmed time slot to put things right. But NO. This outfit is totally robotic in customer service. Actually, not customer service - they don't do that - I mean, in their system for dealing with their victims, I mean, customers.
Upshot was I agreed to the chav option, machine sitting outside right now, so at least it will be collected without further disturbance.
Asked the "Driver Line" to get customer service to call me between 9am and 10am, so was delighted to get a call at 9.10am from a friendly man.
Turns out he wanted to sell me extra insurance (don't do it folks, "Consumer Rights Act 2015" gives you 6 years cover, free of charge, and a local repairman is far cheaper).
Told him I was expecting Customer Services. He put me through, and I spoke to someone after 15 minutes on hold.
They refunded my "collection fee" but as for actual compensation for stress, time and hassle?
A long exchange of views - me talking over the person who just constantly repeated herself and even got the item I purchased wrong at one point - made me understand they don't give £75 or even £55 or basically cash back. Nor an extended guarantee.
Oh, and the hilarious hopeless accused me of phoning the company before they had a chance to call me! When they were the ones who called but not for the right reason. We did stay talking until 10am just to see if anyone would call me back. They did not. When "Driver Line" said "OK" to calling me between 9 and 10am, guess he was just trying to be agreeable rather than actually do anything (now there IS a surprise with this lot).
They do own the mistake, but not the fact it makes the company look terrible or wastes the victim (not customer, remember, this company doesn't have them)'s time.
Eventually got a £30 voucher code out of them, and person even said "I won't bother sending that" as I said I probably won't use AO again anyway. But did so anyway in the end. Probably won't use it, may pass it on to somebody I can't stand so that they can.
Deeply regret trying AO. With John Lewis as bad, I guess my local Euronics or Independent gets a try next, or maybe Hughes which I think are owned by the impeccable Richer Sounds.
There is a reason AO are going bust - they really don't have a clue about making customers happy and strangle the service staff who could do so.
Avoid this circus. The extra star was due to the actual driver and assistant, or this would be a one star review.
UPDATE: Gets worse. Machine left outside at THIER SUGGESTION and against my advice that it was a SECURITY RISK. Just 2 hours later it was targeted by scrap metal man who thought he could help himself to it, meaning it would not be recycled. AO are happy to expose their customers to street crime if you buy from them, too. It just gets better, doesn't it. If you just want a washing machine without any hassle this is NOT the company to buy it from.
FINAL UPDATE: A second load of "scrap metal" dealers just stole the machine while I wasn't watching. Now 20 minute phone wait to tell AO not to bother trying to collect it. Yes, I have some manners, though why I am bothering I am not sure.
And guess what. Told them. They couldn't care less. No compensation, another 20 minutes wasted.
Writing to the Company Secretary now, just so I feel I have sounded off at everyone possible. May as well, as they have wasted so much of my time another 15 minutes to cut and paste this won't do any harm.
1 day later: AO did not cancel the pick-up, so a van turned up 11.20am. Can't even get that right- so customer service woman lied about that as well.
AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID.
If I could give no stars I would. I ordered a fridge, detailed that I live on the top floor with 3 flights of stairs (wide and large landings). I wait in for delivery and I get a phone call saying they're not going to deliver because my stairs are a health and safety issue (!) I said that no one has tried to deliver! I look out and there is a white van - so I go down and the passenger man is holding his stomach saying he feels ill and can't work, maybe tomorrow. The driver then says that I have too many stairs and that is the line they hold in all the subsequent phone calls to their management who say they "can't force them" if they "don't want to" deliver (!) Incredible. I had a plumber here who was happy to take over the second man's position, but they refused to allow us to do that either. They even refused to let me and the plumber use their sack barrow to take the fridge up, and Hannah (manager) was very jovial telling me that they can't make their staff do things. Awful experience - I will never purchase from AO again - wasted time and food that will now have to be thrown away. Disgusting company - lies compounding appalling delivery and customer service. They would not undertake to send a competent delivery person this afternoon, or the next morning - the most CAN'T DO attitude of any company I have ever had the misfortune of ordering from - never again.
Horrendous, "Computer Say's NO", attitude. I have never come across such incompetence before. I skipped customer service and just went straight to complaints. A debacle covering, 3 machines, 3 installation services (trained monkeys would be more effective) and pathetic, withering platitudes stating that we will fix everything, do not be concerned! Well order refused and now considering legal action due to blatant fire risk of mentioned Installation Service Personnel.
AO insurance sales recently got in touch with me on the phone to try to sell us continued washer dryer insurance (as 2 year warranty runs out next month) and were INCREDIBLY pushy and rude in their attempts to make me feel stupid for even considering not taking that insurance! Absolutely awful. When I said that I had to talk to my partner before deciding on it, since both of us would pay (she expected me to just sign up to this without discussing with anyone else), she acted incredulous that I wanted to do so. She said she'd ring back and sure enough rang back today and again was very rude at my decision not to pay £8.99 a month for insurance.
This experience ALONE means that I will not be using AO again in future. This behaviour means there are folks out there who can't say no and will be guilted into paying them insurance.
All it needs to be is 'hi, are you interested in continuing insurance with us' - 'no?, ok no problem' - not a guilt trip and bullying behaviour, honestly it was like some guy who wouldn't take no for an answer!
I Understand these folks probably get commission on every sign up they get, but that doesn't mean they should make the customer feel bad for not wanting to spend money with them! If your calls are truly recorded as they announce at the start then I hope that this behaviour isn't encouraged. See ya AO!
Also, avoid the Haier brand of washer dryers at all costs! We got the Haier HWD100-B******* 10Kg / 6Kg. Not reliable at all.
I have ordered a AEG washer dryer from AO.com, including full installation and set up of the machine. The machine has been set up unlevelled and experienced problems in operation. There have been four different drivers sent from AO.com to level the machine but none of them came with spirit level so they were unable to check and level the machine. This has wasted four full days of me waiting for the drivers to visit me (including weekdays, which I took days off work).
At the end, I have been contacted by AO.com with the offer of my machine to be replaced with new one, and to be compensated for the wasted time. I have sent an email to agree on that offer. However, extremely disappointing, the AO replied back to me that they do not have in stock the AEG machine I have purchased from them, so they cannot provide me a replacement. That really hit me and disappointed me as per the controversial information different AO agents sent me.
I have bought the machine at a big discount time. So even I get full refund from AO, I have to pay additional money (more than £200) to buy the same machine from alternative retailer to cover the price gap. Hence, now it is not possible for me to buy the same machine from another retailer at the same price and I have to suffer monetary loss.
I really regret for purchasing my washer dryer from AO and I would strongly recommend noone to use their service!
Ordered a dishwasher and it arrived badly damaged in about four places. Paid for installation but was told (before unwrapping the machine) that we'd need a plumber due to the pipes being what they were (no real explanation). We cancelled the order and got a refund, ordered the same with Currys with a discount code so it was less expensive, the delivery guys were great, installed it no problem and the machine was perfect.
One of your delivery drivers crashed into our parked car (likely writing it off).
They then fled the scene. Fortunately another motorist reported to the police and left a note on our car. Despite a crime report being issued no-one from AO has responded to our calls for 3 days.
Simply terrible and law breaking.
Was promised a delivery date. Prepared my home, the fridge was cancelled without notification after I had spoke to several reps for several days repeatedly who failed to tell me whether it was available and only were concerned with taking my money and signing up for a. O care payments when they don't even care if I have the appliance. When I called and asked where it was, I was encouraged to pick a different one. What kind of sales operations is that. Now I have to wait a further 2 weeks and it's not guaranteed because they indicated I was on some kind of uncertainty as to whether they were ever going to give it when its my money I've worked hard for and exchanged for goods not received.
A new washing machine was purchased from AO.com and two guys duyl arrived to fit in on 19th May. We tried to run a wash programme on 20th May, whereupon the machine broke down. Upon calling AO.Com we were told an engineeer would call us on 23rd May but only to get the serial number. Once tihs had been established we were told it would be several days before they could come out to deal ith the matter. After some arguing, I told them to come and take the broken machine away and simply refund us. However, this is where it got interesting. AO.com started to try and convince me that, even though the machine was less than 24 hours old before it packed up, they were not legally obliged to replace it or refund the cost. I pointed out that under the CPA they were obliged to do so, but it was only when I threatened legal action that they backed down. Very poor customer service and bad business practice.
Took over a month to receive the mixer I ordered.
The delivery was delayed twice via e-mail.
Something like that would be unimaginable in amazon. Never ever again.
I placed my order, made payment through PayPal and they sent order for delivery the next day. They recalled the item back before it was delivered but couldn't tell me why. I am told I will not receive my order but I am now expected to wait for my refund 3-5 days - I would expect an immediate refund! I will not be placing any more orders with them steer clear.
I ordered a Sony KD43X89JU TV this morning from A. O. On their website they say the sound quality of this TV is excellent. However, a couple of hours later I received a call from A. O. confirming delivery and to inform me that due to the size of the TV and the amount of electronics inside, that a sound bar would be needed as the TV speakers were too small. "So i'll just add that to the account shall I" were the words of the arrogant A. O. staff. When I said that I didn't want to buy an extra sound bar, he sounded amazed, asking why on earth I didn't want to enhance the sound from my new TV for a mere £89.
After we eventually got passed that I endured approximately 5 minutes of him talking about insurance and when he finished I only just caught him saying that he'd set it up and I wouldn't have to pay the first month. When questioned, he was basically just putting me on their insurance. To be honest, I was used to 1990's hard sells, but this was just dishonest.
I have since cancelled my order and recommend you don't touch A. O. with a barge pole.
