We have used „Americas Best" for many years but from now on we will get our glasses somewhere else. Their frames are total junk and we haven't had a frame which lasted longer than a year. Usually they break at the hinges and they can't be repaired, so they're trash. I also had a pair with the antireflective coating which came off (not completely but in a way that I couldn't use them anymore either because what is left of the coating makes the lenses hazy) We are under the impression that poor quality is part of their business model: instead of selling glasses which last 10 years or longer, they sell you junk which has to be replaced after a few months. They don't stand behind the quality of the stuff that they sell. When you complain it's „did you purchase a warranty?"
Ordered glasses on the 15th they said a week to get them, called on the 28th they say it will be at least another week, I'm sure they never submitted the order to start with, the person I spoke with seemed to be pretty uncaring, should have gone somewhere else
My mother had a stroke 6 months ago and can barely walk. We came to Americas Best in Steelyard for glasses. The whole staff couldn't have been nicer to my mother sister and I. Robert the manager helped with the glasses. He had my mother sit at a desk while him and I brought her frames to look at. This took a long time. Robert made this experience pleasant. My sister and I were touched that someone would show our mother such kindness and compassion. When the glasses came in I picked them up. My mother could not enter the store as she was having a bad day. Robert remembered us. He took the glasses out to my mother and fitted them to her in my car. Again, I was almost crying as this person was so kind to her. Thanks for this experience. We will be at Americas Best for life. Thank you, Robert.
Went to America's Best for eye exam and new contact lenses on May 28 and the order wasn't sent out from the store until June 17. And probably wouldn't have gone out then if I hadn't called to see where they were. I will never go to America's Best again.
I purchase a $90 dollar pair of glasses and within three weeks one of the lens fell out. I was able to place it back into the glasses. Then within 6 weeks I simply put on a hoodie and the wire frame came out and my glasses were useless. These are America's Worst Glasses, STAY AWAY!

Terrible customer service to the point that Terri the manger just walked away from me without answering my question. She went into her office and close the door in my face. My eyeglasses broke and Terri told me that she couldn't help me. I asked her repeatedly if she could put me in contact with her area/district manager. She never answered my question, just closed her office door in my face while I was talking. After I paid over $600 dollars on my glasses! Please avoid American Best like a plague. This is the third time I had issues with the same glasses. Save yourself stress and go to Lens Crafters. I took my glasses to Lens Crafters, even though I didn't buy my glasses from them and they tried to repair them knowing that I didn't buy the glasses from them. The young lady at lens crafters suggested that I go to a booth in Greenbriar Mall, which I did. The young man at the Sun Shade booth in the middle of the mall repaired my glasses for $10! American Best Is The worse place you can buy eye glasses. Save yourself pain, money and regret. Try Lens Crafters
Anthony at the Frederick store on Guilford is simply amazing! Courteous, polite, knowledgeable and professional. He has provided the needed attention and service every time we visited America Best in Frederick, Md
Milly M from the Yonkers location was very knowledgeable and patient.
The prices are great too! $79 for two pairs and an eye exam - fantastic!
Positives: Very affordable, good frame selection with some frames clearance-priced even cheaper. Staff is friendly and helpful though not very experienced.
Cons: Any specialized request will incur an upcharge, including (in my case) a request to polish the lens edges, usually a standard practice. I have a high-minus (thick) prescription and requested that the lens be mounted in the frame such that the thick lens is mostly behind the frame as opposed to in front of the frame (an industry standard if not a simple request that I've made elsewhere for decades) only to have the manager tell me that this was not possible (?!) at America's Best. Use this business for your emergency pair of glasses or other un-critical eyeglass needs.
I want to say that this was my first time at America's Best, I would have to say that I was very impressed with the service and attention I received at this establishment. I was very impressed and happy with knowing and feeling like I made the best choice. This comes from my experience with D. Griffith, O.D. To all the staff that attended me. I was also very impressed with the attention and knowledge given to me by associate Ellen, she helped me with my choices and was very informative. Ellen was also friendly and made me feel comfortable. This location made me feel right at home and that is important.
You have made a client out of me... Thank you.

I took my son in April for his first visit to get contacts. They had to order trials which took 4 weeks. It took longer NO ONE called me to let me know they had arrived. I had to call them. He was supposed to come back in a week. One of the contacts fell out (he had a special prescription) went back we had to wait another 4 weeks, lady stated she was ordering extras just in case. AGAIN NO ONE called me to let me know they were in. It was after hours she said she would call to schedule the follow up. I called and no one called me back. That was in May, June 6th was when his contacts expired. I went up there b/c no one would call me back. She stated he needs to stop using the contacts and wear his glasses. I told her I don't know if his glasses prescription is any good, she said he will have to order new ones but it was after hours so I would need to come back. I went again and spoke with someone on June 29th b/c they never call back. Stated she would order more trials and speak with the eye doctor to get a prescription to order contacts. Its July 18th spoke with a Pam she stated she would call me back b/c she didnt' see an order placed as of right now my son has been without contacts or glasses for almost 2 months and he is almost blind in his left eye. I am very disappointed and I dont recommend them to anyone.
I've not a very bias type of person and by far- this is the second review I made in my lifetime. I'm always very objective about what I'm gonna write or say and so very truthful about this. The experience was at 1541 W New Haven Avenue
West Melbourne FL ******* America's Best.
This is in regards to the 2 prescription progressive glasses I ordered (one is a standard and the other is with transition).
It took awhile for them to have it made for almost a month- but then I was very patient.
But when it finally been made- I went in to their office to pick it up- but apparently the transition is made with reading glasses. The reason why I have the transition is when I'm outdoor and so I needed the transition.
The guy whom I was talking to have it change was very unfriendly and unentertaining. Don't even listened to what I say- overtalks me as I explained the mistake politely. He wouldn't even look at me as a customer to address the concern. So he was typing- I believe so he handled it the way it should and took the prescription back- later after 3 weeks- I believe so I was expecting its progressive with transition type- but handled it to me without even have the casing. He told me gave it to me- I didn't argue- so I was walked away. It's just a casing anyway and I've an extra one rather than putting my energy to arguing. And so no trial made- with my confidence from their job- I trusted they handled it already.
As I was using the transition- I couldn't read like my progressive. And so I went back again and told them about the glasses- the same guy who handled it to me told me it's not progressive when he was the one I told then about the initial concern that it's again the same mistake.
I was turned it to Tiffany- and after reviewing the papers or documents in the computer- it turned out that the glasses from initial purchase is past 30 days when I was told that after 90 days it should be replaceable- I don't know one says different from the other.
And so my transition glasses is past the 30 days where I was told within 90 days and this is just the second month from the time I claimed from the first time they have mistaken.
They're not very friendly and not even nice to handle a situation. And again- I just walked away with frustration without arguing.
This is a very shady place where they are initially nice to you but unable to handle their own mistake. Not even able to meet you in the middle to assist you from their own mistakes, 2x in my experience.
With frames and style, it's not worth it for the expense you'll pay.
But for me the most important part is how they'd handled me and unable to meet at least the minimum service to what I paid.
Tiffany told me, "at least you can still use the glasses for distance and outdoor", the way she rudely told me. This statement is not how to resolved the issue- I ordered progressive lens and not distance or reading glasses as they initially made it for me.
They do not know how to listen to customers need, or even listen to you to address the issue. But again- I was still kind as I respond to them.
This is not a good place to get your prescription glasses.
Well i made an appointment two different times due to americas best calling me both times the day before i was to go in saying the doctor at the last moment won't be in first time it was said they won't be there for 2 wks now this time 2/14/23 just won't be in well i think they are full of...t this mays landing store is the worst it seems to me that in order to go here you need to have top rate insurance i will never try to make appointment here again
I scheduled eye exams for my three (3) children (15, 13, 6) with America's Best online and was ready to move forward. When I booked the appointments I found it odd I was able to book my teens' times 10 minutes apart (10 & 10:10 am), but when it came to the 6 y/o the appoint couldn't take place until 12:10 pm. All three (3) were booked at the same location on the same day.
Today I receive a call, to change my appointment date for the 6 y/o due to the optometrist having strict rules of ageism on patients under 7 years old and over 70 years old. The store manager informed my wife and I because of my 6 y/o age we needed to reschedule for two (2) weeks later, since the optometrist feel she would take longer to exam as would anyone over 70 years old. This is the procedure at EVERY location. The manager even tossed in if the elderly has high blood pressure or other medical issues.
How can you advertise you are more of a family friendly practice, but when it comes to these two (2) age groups excuses are made.?!
My husband and I pay cash for our glasses so we have to save to get them. We both got the 2/ deal here and they were good until we decided to take back to get anti reflective coating. Which is another 88$ for 2 so another expense. First 2 pairs came back very spiderweb like and we just thought that was coating then second 2 pairs were pretty clear. We were moving to Arkansas so I messaged the company 3 times explain how we can only wear 1 pair and we would like our other 2 fixed and we have not got any response at all just a robot message. We paid almost 1,000$ for all this junk and can only wear 1 pair and can't even get a professional response. Never again.
Girl is a snotty unpleasant unprofessional twit! And dirty feet to boot! Have been trying to get a MV form completed for 3 weeks but the girl is too stupid to understand what is needed! Garfield NJ!
Charge more if you have insurance - a ripoff. You see 79 deal, and pick out 2 frames
And then they say its not 79 but 500 because you have insurance
I called the store to explain my glasses were not correct. The person on the phone generally told me if it's been over 30 days there is nothing they will do.
Than I took them in and they found they were laid out wrong and offered to make them under my scratch warranty. Not do it cause they were in mistake but use my warranty.
I than called customer service and let them know the replacements were taking to long. They searched and found they were on a ups truck headed to store, ok great.
I get to store and identify my self and the ask me to try the new one one and see what I b think. STILL Wrong and I told the manager and he gave me all a bunch of excuses and told me that's all they can do for me. Than deflects there poor workmanship on me telling me that I should hold there card up to my face and so I did and could only than read the words with the card 3 inches from my face. I Than laid card on there counter and put old glasses on and read card laying on table. He proceeds to tell me most people hold item that close to there face to read it. Than accused me of baggering him when I said the new glasses are not correct. So tough crap $500 downstream drain for glasses I can not use.
In short if you want proper glasses made go somewhere else. The lack of quality and there ability to make there mistakes right are at a I don't care standard.
They have got the last of my money and word of mouth will be poor when asked about them.
I went to America's Best the first week of April for an eye exam and progressive lenses. I waited quite a long time for my appointment which was scheduled for 4:20 PM. At 5:30, one of the girls told me that the doctor ha left for the day so my appointment needed to be re-scheduled. They offered me a free eye exam for the aggravation. Well, I was purchasing two pairs of glasses that came with a free eye exam...so what were they giving me...nothing. So I spoke up and received a $250.00 credit. I took it. I finally had my exam a week and a half later with an online doctor. My glasses came in two weeks later and I could not see out of my left eye. I went back for an adjustment hoping that would solve the problem. Nope, still was not able to see out of my left eye clearly. They scheduled me for another eye exam which was another 7-9 days later. I sat down with a doctor that only spoke broken English and I felt as if I was one of the first people he had given an eye exam to. He was clearly not confident in his skills. He had to keep checking the computer.this was not a flawless exam. Received my new lenses two weeks later, and AGAIN, I still could not see clearly from my left eye. I went back four more times for an adjustment. Then I went to another optical center and had another eye exam and the prescription is slightly different than the one from America's best. I was told that the difference could certainly be the cause of not seeing clearly out of my left eye. I went back to America's Best, with the new prescription and now, the optician is thinking I do not know how to see with progressive lenses though I have been wearing progressives for 2 years. Then they asked if I had a resent physical.did I have blood work done, do I have diabetes, etc. They are now making new lenses for both pairs of glasses. Can't wait for what I see or not see this time. They should really pay me time and mileage...WTH.
