We enjoyed a wonderful cruise with American Cruise Lines on the Columbia and Snake Rivers. The ship and its crew were magnificent! The crew exceeded our expectations in every way. The cruise was all that we expected, and more. Each port had plenty of shore activities, either planned excursions or just on our own. We really appreciated that almost all the ports had extensive riverfront walking trails. Going through the many locks incorporated with dams was very interesting. The meals and snacks and beverages were outstanding. The cruise had a Lewis & Clark theme, and we enjoyed many on-board talks about Lewis & Clark, the Oregon Trail, and native American tribes. Also, the evening entertainment was very enjoyable.
We have traveled to all seven continents, and while this cruise may not rank at the top of our travel list, it is certainly among our favorite North American experiences. We aren't "cruise people", but we certainly recommend this cruise
Great for a single woman fun safe way to travel and be with interesting folks. Love history so the speaker are always a hit for me.
We had been told by friends that American Cruise Lines was best. ABSOLUTELY! Now: Maine's "Coastal Cats!"
This was my ninth cruise with American Cruise Lines on the Columbia and Snake rivers. I think my
Return business speaks for itself. I am always satisfied and feel very comfortable traveling with them.
I am signed up for my tenth cruise on the Tennessee River.
This overall should have been a 5+. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is that they were having crew shortages. But the crew was outstanding in the face of it all. Maybe I should give it a 5+ because of all the hard work, by all of the crew, in overcoming the shortages. The ports were great and the excursions were wonderful. I'm celiac and need to be gluten-free. I have never felt so "taken care of" in my life. The chefs were on top of all of the food that was brought out to me. They even made GF bread for me.
We loved the entire trip! The staff was so incredibly nice & helpful! The food was top notch and the entire trip was truly wonderful!
My husband & I experienced the Highlights of the Columbia River cruise. We were so impressed with the personal service, beginning with the phone call from our driver who picked us up from the airport to all on-board & ashore services. All crew & staff were friendly, approachable & attentive. The spectacular scenery was enhanced by our views from the ship. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The views from our private balcony were fantastic! The daily excursions & entertainment were fun & informative. Our meals were delicious. We have nothing but positivity. Our entire experience was so memorable! Thank you, American Cruise Lines!
This was my second cruise with American Cruise Lines. My sister and I had a wonderful trip full of fun and fellowship. I would recommend it to anyone, especially people that do not want to go out of the country, but like to cruise. It is so refreshing to have a company that is American and the ships are built in America.
Incredible destinations, new boat, and pleasant staff made our journey on the Mississippi unforgettable.
This was a great way to start our cruise experience. Great service and interesting ports. Met a number of interesting people. The food was well prepared and very good.
We will be doing this again.
We saw the mighty river while sailing north and south upon it. We felt a part of it. I was born and raised on the Mississippi River, in Quincy, Illinois, and thought I knew all about it. Well, I learned that I had just scratched the surface. On our cruise, we really saw the South, past and present. We learned about the history of the South through some museum tours. We also visited some modern plantations where today's cotton, sugar cane and crawfish are raised. Absolutely fascinating!
My wife & I booked this Mississippi Cruise as part of our trip to the USA from Australia, it turned out to be the highlight of our entire five & a half week trip, everything from the staff, the food, on board entertainment to the onshore excursions were first class. We boarded in New Orleans the afternoon prior to our day of departure, this included an excursion the next morning to the New Orleans WW2 Museum (Fantastic) Our room on board the ship was absolutely first class. We finished our cruise in Memphis, with a Graceland tour (the best) We will definitely be sailing with American Cruise Lines again, we cannot recommend them highly enough.
There wasn't a single aspect of my cruise on the lower Mississippi River that I would change. The employees were all very kind and helpful, they went out of their way to make everything enjoyable. The food, chefs and wait staff were all excellent. My room was clean and comfortable. The excursions were interesting and well planned, the onboard and guest entertainment was wonderful. I signed up for another cruise this year and cannot wait to see what they have in store. It was very helpful having laundry facilities on board also. I cannot recommend this company enough, and I also appreciate that it is all American!
Great cruises on Columbia and Mississippi rivers. Great new boats and caring crew. Great gourmet food. Love the eclipse Cafe for casual eats. We booked our third cruise for this November.
The scenery on the snake and Columbia River was amazing and the food was delicious.l would recommend taking the jet boat cruise on the snake river. It was just amazing
Worry free, tip free, no hidden fees. What's not to like? Great entertainment, especially "Mark Twain".
The first thing that we like about American Cruise Line is that there are many people our age on board. We don't need the princes lunches, gambling, mammoth slide into the pool or the mac and cheese. We are older and enjoy lectures about where we are, guided tours at our pace and cookie time in the morning and afternoon. We also enjoy it being all inclusive drinks, Wi-Fi, many tours included and gourmet meals every night. Yes, we feel very pampered with the ships only having between 90-130 on board. This also means we are not walking forever to get to our rooms or to the entertainment areas. These are fun river cruises well worth the money and very relaxing.
We really enjoy being onboard these cruises. The small ships make every cruise interesting as you can go to towns that nobody else can visit. They have itineraries all over the country and different types of ships. Weve been on the paddleboats and the new ones that have a modern design. Both are nice, but the modern ones are the way to go in our opinion.
We cruised New England in August 2022 on the American Star. It was awful. The worst cruise I have ever taken. The ship is old and in need of much maintenance. We had sewage back up in our shower 3 times. We embarked the ship from a different port than advertised. Had we not been on the pre- cruise exercuion we would have missed the ship, because we wre never informed of the embarking port change. We were supposed to embark in Providence Rhode Island but it was New Bedford that we embarked. The ship never made it to 3 of 7 ports advertised. We missed Providence, Nantucket and Block Island. Martha's Vineyard was cut short because we couldn't dock and had to ferry over from New Bedford. The captain kept us in New Bedford 3 nights, because he said the wind gust were too high and the anchor wouldn't hold. However, we were suppose to dock not anchor. The ferries and other boats were sailing, but not the American Star. The excursions mostly consisted of trolley rides around the town. The ship had one weathered elliptical and one weathered stationary bike on the ouside deck for its fitness program. Thevstaff was friendly but they were understaffed, unorganized and untrained. Some staff walked off in the middle of the cruise and new ones came on. I called customer service. I was told to email. I emailed customer service and the president. I stated my dissatisfaction with the cruise. I asked for a statement of why the ship couldn't sail so I could file a claim with my travel insurance. I have ask for a statement a total of 5 times. Two while on the ship 3 in emails after the cruise. A month later, I have not received a statement. I also asked for a partial refund. The president sent a letter say they advertise the American Star as their oldest ship. He was glad I had positive interaction with the staff. He said, he wanted to restore my confidence by offering me 25% discount on another cruise. They had already offered 20% off to everyone, if they booked on the cruise. Their customer service is non- existent. I will not sail with them ever again. I do not recommend thier cruises.
We were really looking forward to our 1 week Mississippi River cruise but were sadly disappointed by this cruise line. Our ship was so poorly maintained that it's generator broke down and we lost an entire day to repairs. We missed an entire port of call and all of the excursions we had paid for were cancelled. We were told we would be contacted about reimbursement when we returned home but no one has contacted us. No reimbursement, no apology, nothing.
Apparently, American Cruise Lines intends to just keep the money we spent without delivering what was promised. Very disappointing.
Choose a different cruise line.
Answer: American Company with American staff. Great cruises within the USA.
