I have been a customer of Academy since I was young. I finally got a credit card from them. This has been the worst decision ever. Unable to speak to manager, rude representatives and multiple of them hang up when I asked to speak to manager. My problem was unresolved and I have canceled my credit card. I WILL no longer shop here. So disappointed with their customer service.
The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced! I was on the phone with these people for over 2 hours trying to find out where my order was and they finally gave me the number of the shipping company that had it! They pretty much said it's up to me to find it! The shipping company never answered the phone! I placed my order on june 17 and as of july 5 has not recieved it! I don't recommend anyone buying from these clowns! I will never again! Larry Oakes
I placed an order online and put in my discount code. Did not get my discount, when I contacted them I was told to cancel that order and reorder, which I did but still no discount. I was told I would get an email when my order was ready for pickup. Nothing! I sent a complaint in and was told I would here back in a "Few days", over 10 days later and still no response. Thankfully I checked on my order the day after it was supposed to be delivered to find it was ready for pickup, or it would have been returned. Terrible online system and customer service!
Even though they didn't take payment from people living in California, they charged my account twice and won't return my money to me! Do not do business with these people. They need to give me my money back!
I have not had this quality of customer service in some time. The ladies are great, helpful and non discriminatory.
I tried to order an Old County gravity fed smoker and I called as I prefer to speak to someone and not order online. I had an issue with my credit card, my fault, I had a daily limit I didn't know about. The ladies helped me work through the issue, no judgement.
My smoker was delivered damaged, a lot of cosmetic damage. It was not in a crate, it was shipped in one, damaged by the shipping company. There were a few defects like the wheels were bent and the door also. I had to cook for 200 people so I needed to use it, runs great. Academy Sports worked with me on a mutual agreement and made good on the damage. I chose to keep it and live with the cosmetic damage with the offer they made. I wish there was one in New Hampshire and I recommend them. Thank you for your outstanding customer support.
My kid purchased a bamboo rod from academy. It's had a bad connection can't even use for first time. We brought it back to Academy and they don't want to take it back because he doesn't have a receipt with him. When I try talk to the store manager she said she will gave him a store credit for the rod but only $0.12 cents. Compared to $3.99 at the time they were selling. Was insulted, ripped off fr a kid? Will never spend a dime Academy no more.
Went to Owensboro Ky to shop at academy and look around and was treated very poorly by a cashier. We were very nice to her and she was no help at all with anything. Seemed like she hated her life. Definitely didn't even want to buy their products after that. And I don't plan to ever shop here again just because of that one encounter.
Went to the West Monroe, Louisiana location with my husband and 2 year old to exchange some shoes they are new un used and purchased just 2 days ago.
Brought them in box WITH receipt and simply wanted a larger size for my son bc they where a gift. Before we went to shop I told the people at the front and they told me it was fine and to go get the larger size. After walking through the big store and getting the size I stood in line and the guy told me he couldn't do exchanges very rudely( which he Never mentioned prior and I told him I was told by the lady beside him and all he said was " oh she's not a manager ") and that they had just stopped all exchanges on Monday! My problem was not this new rule but was that I showed them both first thing upon arrival and they did not tell me this but let me with 2 year old spend over an hr trying to exchange them. They should fire the guy working customer service he was very rude and did not try to help us at all. Horrible place I will NOT return.
Ordered 2 girls bikes online. Received confirmation the order was received and the bikes are shipping. 24 hrs later I get a cancellation notification on one of the bikes. I call customer service. They say the bike is no longer available. (yet available in stores) I do not understand why they could not take stock from a store and ship it. I am sure FedEx delivers to the store. Anyway, I was told no other 24" girls bikes were available. As this is an Easter gift, I was forced to order a 24" Boys bike because I was told no 24" girls bike was available. (Not true, they had a few listed)
So, I track the 1st bike I ordered and the tracking number is not working. No bike can be found. I have spent several hours on the phone, emails and texts. I get an email telling me they will give me a code for 10% off up to $20 on my next purchase! I am NEVER ordering from these guys again. How is 10% going to make things better. Customer service means nothing to these guys.
I ordered a shirt as a Christmas gift for my husband. I opened the package a couple days after it was delivered to wrap it and it was the wrong brand, color and size. I could understand grabbing the wrong size, but this was not even close to the same. I contacted customer support via chat and all they could do was tell me that they will send me an email to initiate a return. I'm extremely disappointed with the lack of care that Academy shows their customers. I will not be shopping with them again.
Quality Control and customer service are both terrible. I purchased a pair of pants for my son. The first time he wore them they appeared short, even though they are the same size as others that fit him. After washing them and hanging them up for the first time, I noticed that they had different lengths of legs on each side. One side had an inseam of 18.5" and the other had an inseam of 20". I messaged their chat service and they offered me a 10% coupon to buy a new pair. No thanks! (Don't want any other wonky made pants.) Then, they gave me an email to contact. The email I sent was NEVER responded to.
Their online store simply doesn't work. They don't know how to run the business and customer care is even worst. Tried once didn't work, tried second time also couldn't get what I bought, but they quickly charged my credit card. Bought five itens which I only got one and could not cancel the other ones, still waiting for over 2 weeks for itens already paid for. Who knows when I'll get the itens or my money back? They should sell their online business for someone that knows how to handle it.
The people at the store are helpful. Prices are pretty good. Beware their credit card via comenity bank! They held our payment until we were late. We called them and used our debit card to pay and get rid of the late fees and interest. The next day they cashed our check and charged us a late fee. I have learned in the meantime that this is a matter of practice for them to hold your payment, charge late fees etc. Stay away from any in-store credit via comenity bank or you will regret it.
Unless you get an instant approval on your background check for a gun purchase forget about buying one here. If you get a delay response they will never call you back and cancel the sale. So you may as well cancel it yourself instead of waiting for them to call you. Worst gun purchase experience i've ever had. Go to a local mom and pop store.
I have purchased 2 firearms from academy and have been well satisfied. The only problem has been that the online information is sometimes inaccurate. Not this stores fault. These reviews are all just sour grapes. Mechanical firearm problems have to be resolved by the manufacturer no matter where you buy it. Aspiring team members? Wake up and smell the roses. Life doesn't owe you anything you have to earn it! Waiting on the status of a firearm is the government, or you, everything ok on the application? Didn't forget about that felony on your record? I like academy! Not whiners
Sad sad day I will never purchase anything from Academy sports Again I purchased a 22 ruger a little over a month ago for my son fired about 20 to 30 rounds out of it and a quit working the hammer won't pull back with ease and the squirts trigger pool is schedule took it back to Academy and they informed me that it's going to be repaired and I can't get a replacement or my money back because all gun sales are final which they said I signed a piece of paper and everyone that walk me out that they told me as well and not one person told me all gun sales are final there are no signs up anywhere because if I would have known that all gun sales are final especially after owning it for 30 days and only firing 30 rounds out of it I would not have purchased it I will no longer do business with Academy they told me they could have my gun for over a month for it to get repaired and in the mean time my son was is without a firearm to shoot with
Not helpful. Over a month to ship. Wouldn't refund. I flushed something down the toilet that was better than this company.
Applied for the credit card, I was told I would get $15 off the first purchase so I ordered A grip for my shotgun. After a couple weeks I called them to find out where my order was and they knew nothing about it, after half an hour of talking to them they finally found out that they canceled the order because they didn't have any in stock, so I placed an order for a reflex site and they wouldn't give me like $15 off because I was told " In order to get the $15 off you had to place the order at the same time you applied for the credit card( which I did) But because the grip was my first order they wouldn't honor the discount, I will never waste my time with their company again
