My wife and I bought an Outdoor Gourmet 4 burner griddle from Academy Sports a few months back. Please see the attached pictures. This griddle has been cleaned and covered after every use, yet rust continues to get worse. I've sent in pics and a review previously and the response from customer service is that I must buy products to remove the rust and it all falls on me. Academy will do nothing to address the issue. Why? I've sent in a secondary review and they refused to publish. No names mentioned, no vulgar language, just an honest review of the product and the less than satisfactory customer service response I received. Please stand behind your products Academy.
I ordered a Stanley tumbler. First one received was damaged. Returned and reorder. Second was the wrong size and color. Same thing has happened with shoes. Online order. Needed by a certain date and wrong size was sent. Whoever packages their online orders is awful!
Purchased brand new PitBoss January but did get a chance to use until July. Not working and academy refuses to return.
My order was placed for pickup and was changed to home delivery! I wouldn't have ordered it if that was the case!
I purchased a canopy to go to the beach & it was bent when we opened it, and we mananaged to get it open but it was bent, when we were ready to leave due to bad weather, the canopy would not close at all after numerous attempts. We could not get it I jammed to to it being damaged from purchasing it. It was not possible to close it at all to return it to the store and we had to leave without the bent medal portion of it. We have a small car and could not drive 2 hrs with a canopy on top of a car without being in danger while driving, it was wider than our car. We took pics and video of it and when I called the store they could do nothing. All they said was drive back & get it. Really? We have the bag & fabric to it. We only had it for 18 hrs& have a receipt & not even a store credit for selling me a damaged tent or 1/2 refund. It was my first & last time shopping there. I know you have insurance for damaged items. But when being honest it didn't help any. The fact that we were 2 hours away made it impossible to get anyone to assist us with it. It would not close even a bit. Bad management to a first time customer. Bad experience on wasting 52.00 dollars and left with no canopy. Wow. He rather wanted me in a dangerous situation bringing something back that would not close and potentially fly onto cars causing accidents. We traveled in a small car not a truck so there was no way to drive back with an open canopy
The website is incredibly slow, and half of the buttons you are supposed to click don't work (like the Checkout button). Not to mention the design is ugly. When I finally got the checkout to work it refused to let me place my order, making up a different reason every time. (Invalid zipcode, invalid credit card number, didn't confirm payment method etc.)
My previous purchases were paid in full. Now told "Academy does not sell to you" because we're I live.
Ontario Canada. We will not sell you High Gloss shoes. There web site statement covers California, no other place mentioned. Asked why, No Response, Closing soon?
Every time You run a sale. For some odd reason, you don't have what's on sale in the store, but will have something eles just like it for a higher price. That's not on sale. This is the last time. I will ever walk back into this store.
I ordered a bbq pit for my husband for Father's Day. Never left GA. So disappointed. Never again will I on line order from Academy. People were nice but that doesn't make up for the gift that wasn't delivered. Should of gone into store, would of been faster. I finally after 2 weeks I got my money back. So wrong. They passed the blame on Fed Ex, Fed Ex passed the blame on Academy. Smh. Aweful experience.
I got a gift dress size XL, brand Magellan. It is a store's brand. Sure, I do not have any sticker on it. I went to the store in McKinney, TX just for exchange. They told me I can't get credit store or exchange, or return with no receipt. I found the same color, same dress also with no sticker on it, but my size and I asked them if I can buy it, manager told me: "Sure, no problem". I asked again if I could exchange, and he said: "No". It is not understandable. No common sense.
I went there to get a Airsoft gun which took me 15 minutes to get there and when I chose one I went to the checkout and they said I couldn't buy it because I wasn't old enough and I'm like so I can shoot a rifle shotgun and handgun but not buy a Airsoft gun which is a non lethal gun!?!
After 20 mins of discussions they basically told me I don't need to order from them again because they screwed up 2 out of 2 orders.
Ordered a grill on the 28 of May they said I should get it by June 6 it's now the 14th and it's still say waiting for carrier pickup! Unexceptable!
Bought a gun. Went to pick up after 3 business days. I was told That I had cancelled it. I told them I never cancelled it and waited the 3 days. I told them if I cancelled, I would have wanted a refund. They obviously have someone else cancel and got it mixed up with my name. So now the other person is not getting his wishes taken care of and I was told that I would have to go through all the paperwork and background check again which was over 45 minutes last time. I informed in house at Academy and never heard a response back. They did not care. They did a thorough review of all paperwork and walked me to counter to purchase gun (even though no gun was in my possession at time of purchase) but did not even check to make sure they had the right person that wanted a cancel. Incompetence
I read the fine print it says not valid on Yeti products or discounted or licensed products, price matches or combined with other promotions. I tried to order two full priced paddles for Pickleball and was denied the first responder discount. My order fit the description of what is allowable for the 10% discount and it was still denied with no reason given. I ended up ordering from Amazon the same two paddles in a bundle with balls and covers for the exact same price. It's no wonder amazon is closing down businesses.
Terrible customer service. I do not recommend purchasing footwear at this store. If boots are defective, the policy is "its the manufacturers problem, not theirs". Save yourself $200 and purchase from a company that stands behind their product. This is why people shop online.
I had such a wonderful experience today at the academy sports in Dallas area located on Parker and the tollway I am recovering from a stroke and I've just recently started going out and shopping by myself from the get-go the greeter at the door I think his name was Andrew Andrei... Give me a genuine warm greeting then I was helped by a first day girl named Brooke who couldn't have been a sweeter and more helpful help me pick out clothes and then a manager training named danique bring me out help me with my credit card and made sure that everything was all right and the manager strolled by a couple times I didn't get his name but you could see why his employees were so happy because he seemed like such a nice guy too you cannot overestimate how important it is to accompany to have employees like these because all the money you spend to get customers into the store can all be flushed down the toilet if the employees don't go the extra step these young people did... I know it's just a little trip to a sporting goods store but you don't see that kind of caring and effort and pride in their job like this very often
Ordered 3 pairs of shoes that were to be delivered in 1 week. They showed up in 3 days in perfect condition. Very satisfied!
I bought a very expensive pair of Brooks shoes from them in January. They already have holes forming in the insoles I have the receipt and tried to return them within the 60 days, but they won't refund me because I don't have the shoebox. I have spent over $1,000 at their store, but won't spend another Penny there.
Seems like the employees run from people that need help. In the past this was my go to store, now its becoming the stay away from store. I wanted to purchase an item a few months ago, I found what I was looking for but it takes at least 2 people to move it. I looked directly at 3 employees a few feet away. These guys were in conversation with just them selves. They all 3 looked at me and quickly ignored me. I left. Today I ordered an item on line then got a text message that it was ready for pickup. My thought is they have now moved it up to the customer service desk. NO, I had to wait until they could find someone to locate the item and bring it to the front. Leadership starts at the top, so what does that tell you?
