The worst company!

This company totally suck! Stay away, do not buy from them. Ordered a book, got the wrong one, unable to reach them. Website no longer available! Too bad I can't give them zero stars.

I rented a textbook that was in fact the older edition (didn't realize that was a common problem with this website until I read these reviews). I still have the textbook, and wanted to see when the textbook was due, but the website isn't up or running any longer. Although I was able to contact through email. Sandy is who replied, giving me the return address.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE LEGIT SCAMMERS THEY DONT OFFER RETURN TAGS, ADVERTISE THE WRONG BOOK, THEY DONT HAVE A CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER ONLY THROUGH EMAIL. JUST DONT BUY OR GET INVOLVED WITH THEM!

Sent me the WRONG version of the book, when they advertised a picture of a later version on the rental screen. Purposefully ignore my email asking for a return address until it was too late for a return, worst customer service I have ever experienced.

CHEATS!

This "company" is run by nothing but cheats. You know how it is, class is starting soon and you haven't ordered your text yet so you get online and try to find a used copy of the book you need. You don't do your due diligence because time is running out but, hey, it's just a textbook. Who is going to send you something you didn't order? THIS SITE! After complaining about the book being an old edition I was told I could send it back at my cost. Really? This is not how legit businesses operate. I have filed a consumer complaint with my state's Attorney General's Office. I would suggest others do the same (if you are a bilked customer) and to the rest of you thinking of buying; RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

Zero stars if possible - they make it look sooo legit! Confirmation emails with logos and everything! But, yes, it's a scam. Do not buy from this site. Maybe that's not clear... DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SITE! Bite the billet and pay the outrageous book prices. You'll end up paying double (once from this scamming site and once from a genuine, trustworthy site) --

I ordered a 13th edition, i clicked on the picture of the 13th edition to order.
After 10 days of shipping, I not only did i not get the 12 edition, but i get the 11th...
SCREW THEM.
Dont waster your money, time or effort here... go somewhere you know and trust.
-> they dont even have books, they order your book from a third party website. I made my order on the 21st and the invoice is from OPB (another company) with the order date as the 22nd.
They are running a middleman scam, and giving the wrong books.
I 100% believe theses other reviews because IT HAPPENED TO ME, AND IT WILL TO YOU.
DONT USE THIS SITE, DONT SUPPORT THEM, THEY SUPPORT TERRORISM

They took two of my payments for books i ordered and seven days later said the order has been cancelled and the book was "sold" when i had already paid and ordered it.

They rent if it doesn't sell, wait to see if it sells and then maybe you get your book. This is the WORST book company i have ever done business with. Will notify all my classmates to never use their service and to beware.

After reading all the comments and reviews below, I wasn't too surprised on how similar my experience was with Ablesbooks as well. I should have paid attention to that little bell ringing in my head when the ISBN # was conflicting with the information I had. Not to mention the dual cover images that were being advertised. I never received my book, $20 later which I guess I will have to swallo. I always thought online text book rentals were created equal. Avoid this shady business and go elsewhere.

Same as the others. This company lies about their products and refuses to do anything about it. Their terms and conditions say nothing about what the woman, Sandy, says when you email her. This is what she said:

We specialize in selling the previous editions of items. This is stated on our website and in your shopping cart at the time of purchase. In most cases the right previous edition will work for most classes and save you considerable money.
We honor a 30 day money back guarantee for all items.
We do not issue return tags.
We just accept return if you are not using the books, if that is the case please send the back in the original packages, the addresses are on them.

I then told her I was out of state and didn't have the packages, she refused to give me the address.
As well I continued to reference their terms and conditions on their site, none of which reference these absurd policies.
What a piece of work this Sandy person is. They should be embarrassed.

Ablebooks uses the current edition volumes; pictures, ISBN, and, detailed information only to inform you that they reserve the rights to switch the copy to an older copy at their own discretion, with no warning or explanation. After you have hounded them for weeks without returned emails, after they had sent the version 4 years dated from the version they were advertising you might get Sara the bot customer service since their advertised phone number is disconnected. They will not take any returns from 30 days from your order date instead of your books arrival date and will go out of their way to ensure you are not able to return the book in time, which under their terms means they owe you nothing even though they sent the wrong book. Company of scammers, and liars. The worst company online today. Do not buy from Ablesbooks.com 0/5 stars

I located the book I needed and placed my order. The next day I receive an email telling me they don't have that book anymore. I checked the site 3 days later and the book is still listed. Extremely frustrating. Customer service was not helpful or friendly in the least.

The customer service is awful. My book took a month to get to me and when I requested my refund for my $15 worth of shipping since the book was late they said they could only offer half back. They don't offer return labels so you're on your own when shipping the books back.

Copied an ISBN # for the textbook I needed for my class from my class syllabus and searched for it through google. A book from this store came up, so I purchased it. After purchasing the book, I decided I wanted to get expedited rates to make sure I had my book before class started. I contacted the company right away asking if they could get expedited rates for me (I work in customer service, this is something that I do for customers ALL the time, not a big deal) and they refused. Sandy, the person who I spoke with was EXTREMELY unhelpful. She wouldn't even acknowledge my request for expedited rates and just said "you will receive a shipping confirmation". Ignored all of my inquiries. Received the book and found out it is NOT the edition I need for my class. The edition number IS NOT listed on the book listing, but copying the exact ISBN # from the syllabus you would think I would receive the correct edition. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. So then I emailed asking if I could return the book. I am now being told that because I do not have the original packaging with the returns address on it, that I cannot return it. This is a BS return policy. As I said before, I work in customer service and when a customer wants to return a product I gladly give them our returns address. They shipped my book in some thin plastic packaging that needs to be ripped apart to open up, just to see your book. Obviously I would throw a torn piece of plastic away. They have a 14 day return policy and states on their website "We offer returns within 14 days of receiving a book. Please return the book to sender. If unsure of which return center to send to email us at *******@gmail.com." It does not make sense as to why they refuse to give me a returns address. I am not asking for my shipping charge to be refunded, nor am I asking for a return label. I am happy to pay return shipping which is more than what most customers would be okay with. All in all, a crappy experience. I will never buy from them again.

They shipped me the wrong book and the support (Sandy) kept saying that it was a previous edition of the book I ordered (Which it was not; different Title, Author, etc.). Throughout the email exchange she avoided accepting responsibility and would not communicate with me about their mistake. Avoid buying from this company at all costs, it is not worth the hassle when you get the wrong book and they refuse to work with you.

Worst experience ever. I ordered a few books off of here. I received the wrong edition in every case. NOWHERE on the site was there notice that they "specialize" in previous edition books.

Here is the exchange via email with "Sandy"... since they have NO PHONE NUMBER.

ME:

I'm confused. I received the "Ethical" book listed in your email above and it is the 7th edition, however, pictured in the order format is the 9th edition. Care to explain?

I find it VERY concerning that you are advertising the correct edition in the picture of the item, but selling a different product.

When I purchased the books from you the picture of the item indicated the 9th edition, not the 7th which has a completely different appearance.

You also state on your website that I can call or email. You have no phone number. Where am I to call?

I also reviewed your terms and conditions page as well as your policy page and there is NO statement indicating these are previous edition books.

I have also not received my second book via DHL.

I would appreciate you looking into this matter. At the very least you are false advertising.

They sent the wrong book, I emailed immediately and heard back that they would refund the book, not the $10 shipping or $10 it would cost me to send back. The edition they sent me was not the one on the webpage which is misrepresentation and they are REALLY OVERPRICED for the book they actually sent me. STAY AWAY!
