Not worth it!
February 12, 2020

Some sellers ask for extra money, some for extra shipping (the book is heavy), so sellers are dishonest in the aspect of pricing. Misleading descriptions, books may have a lot of acid damage or pages missing that they don't tell you about. Misleading.

Misleading
February 6, 2020

I purchased a book that was supposed to be new and it was used and the registration code did not exist. I was offered a credit, then the next day I received an email asking me to purchase the agent an iTunes card and mail it to them for the amount of the credit that was supposed to be issued. Hmm very strange I asked for a refund they can have their used book back with the useless code.

Misleading
January 28, 2020

I ordered a textbook, ONE textbook, at check out it said 19.99 which was right. I hit proceed and it charged me for 2 books. It also said an electronic copy would be available immediately which was a blatant lie. I didn't receive electronic access for 24 hours and totally thought I had been scammed. Wouldn't recommend this (honestly I haven't even gotten my book yet so we will see if it even shows up).

Ordered a book. ONE BOOK. Said it was in stock. Was supposed to be a Christmas present. Paid on 12/13/19. As of 12/31/19 it still hasn't arrived. Supposedly coming from same country (USA). How difficult is it to throw one book in a bag and mail it?

Utter Failures
December 27, 2019

Utter Failures. I ordered a vintage, two book Junior Instructor set in November, 2019. They were described as Like New. I received only one of the books, and it was in Poor condition. It was unbelievable, but I tried again. I selected the highest priced set of those same books, which were also described as Like New. That time, I didn't get the books, at all. They sent me a cheap, paper Math workbook. When I brought it to the seller's attention, I was told that I must return it prior to receiving a refund. They were holding $65 of my money, while I had at most about $10 worth of goods. I had to provide shipping materials and then spend over an hour of my time to return the item they'd sent me, which I had not ordered and did not want. The error was unbelievable, and 100% the seller's fault. I had promised to return the book in my email, and expected that the seller would extend me a bit of trust and courtesy, since they had caused me such inconvenience, and there was very little of their money at risk. But, they chose to be petty and adversarial, and add insult to injury. AbeBooks carelessly exposes buyers to inept sellers who provide terrible customer service. I will never deal with AbeBooks again. It was nothing but a waste of my time and money, and I didn't even get the books I ordered. They still advertise that they're available, but I was finally told that they do not have them. It's false advertising. This is the most ineptly run company I've encountered in many years -- maybe ever.

SCAMMERS!
December 22, 2019

I parrot the recent reviews of AbeBooks and as many have shared wish I had read the reviews before "attempting" to order. I payed for an "expedited" order which on the website said would be 3-5 business days. Which mean the book should arrive by Christmas Eve. I got the email confirming the order with an estimated delivery of January 4! I contacted customer service and was told I could "pay" extra to have the order expedited. Duh! When I responded that I had already done that a response came a day later saying there would be no way to get the book by Christmas Eve but I would get it by Dec. 30. So given it was a hard book to find I agreed. No wait for it! 2days later I get an email that the book I ordered was "misplaced or sold without record" and I could get another one if I paid an extra $40"! You can't make this up. So how did a book go "misplaced or sold" when you sent me a confirmation and had exchanged emails about the book for almost 5 days? I rejected the offer and cancelled the order and turned around and ordered the book from amazon for almost $100 less. Yes, I won't get it by Christmas but dealing with AbeBooks was ridiculous.

Sorry Christmas
December 17, 2019

Boy I wished I had checked reviews before wasting my time using this site. Order on 12/2, no tracking info, inquiry to customer service supposedly to be answered in 24 goes ignored, email bookseller to get automated email that they will answer in two days. In this day and age, if you can't supply tracking information, you shouldn't be in the online sales business. I will end up buying something else to ship to my granddaughters in Florida for the holiday and use this order down the road... assuming it shows up. If you are reading reviews to decide whether to use Abebooks, keep clicking over to Amazon or B&N. Not worth the time.
UPDATE 12/19- Bookseller finally responded to inquiry that the books were out of stock the whole time. Two weeks after ordering and getting a shipped status! What a joke. Avoid this site at all costs.

I am so fed up with this miserable company. My order with Irish Booksellers has gone sideways, and when one tries to write to either the seller or ABE books, you get an answer that your email has been sent and you will hear back within 2 days, hopefully. Good Lord. It is the most lackadaisical company I have ever dealt with. Response hopefully within 2 days? Worthless. Buy on Amazon, where the sellers feet are held to the fire, and the sellers get things done--and fast--or are booted out.

Wrong book sent
December 11, 2019

I ordered my wife two books for Christmas and when the box was delivered 15 days before Christmas the two books were not sent and another book was in the box. Also after ordering the books they sent an email a few days later upping the postal charges by $20. I would not deal with them again.

WARNING! Do not buy or sell books to ABE Books or Text Book Rush (same company). They are a scam company that is out to take advantage of students. If you sell books to them, they don't pay you the quoted price. If you accidentally send the wrong bookthey don't pay you anything and keep the book! They are stealing from people. Don't trust them. There is no customer service phone line either. ABE Books or Text Book Rush is an unethical business that cheats people.

Complete rip off. Missed the delivery date by two weeks. When I reached out to them they claimed they couldn't trace the shipment which was laughable. They offered a refund. CONFIRMED the processing of that refund via an email. Nearly three weeks have passed from them and the refund has never been processed. Each reach out to them has been met with the standard "fill out this form and we will get back to you". STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS, SOMEONE IS LINING THEIR POCKETS WITH FAKE TRANSACTIONS.

October 25, 2019

I ordered Warhol by David Bourdon. The book was dirty. Get this, it even had a card for "Homeless Heath Care Los Angeles" The inside cover looked like it had dried blood spots or dead bugs. Disgusting. I don't even want to touch it.

Too good to be true
October 21, 2019

I ordered two textbooks one month ago. For the first book I ordered, I have not been given any tracking number and even though I have asked the company repeatedly to give me one, I haven't received any answer. Furthermore I have contacted the abebooks customer service to address this irresponsibility from the seller and I haven't received A SINGLE ANSWER IN A WEEK.
The second book I bought is from an Indian company which ostensibly had a maximal rating. The book was supposed to be over 800 pages, A4 format and over 1 kg. Although I paid extra charges for the 1 kg, not only was the book less than 1 kg, it was also a printed pdf with a paperback attached to it with a A5 format. Fair enough, at least it does the job you must say; well no, because the characters are so small, the book cannot be read.
At this point you must be saying that there may be some shady vendors out there. However abebooks does not do what it is supposed to do- regulate the relationship between buyer and seller. Instead it chooses to let customers resolve their own problems, and often without success.

Ordered an electronics book through Abebooks, the bookseller was "Bookdeals" from Lakewood Colorado. I paid for 3-6 day shipping. I contacted Abebooks 5 days later when I noticed my book hadn't even been shipped yet. All Abebooks does is automatically forward your email to the seller. I looked at their policies for shipping, returns, refunds etc and they all refer to the seller for these. The seller eventually contacted me saying he contacted Abebooks to learn how to do a PayPal purchase. I told them my PayPal account information. At this point it was 10 days out from purchase date. The seller eventually pulled the money from my PayPal. I asked that since I paid extra for faster shipping which had not been met, that they expediate my shipping. The seller then refunded my PayPal charge with no communication. Needed this book in a timely manner and wasted 2 weeks with Abebooks. Wish I checked this website first!

I was browsing for some "Phoebe and her Unicorn" books. This Abebooks.com site popped up with a six book set, seemed interesting. Then you see the price $1,000! Are you FREAKING kidding me? These are books sold on Amazon for $8-$10 each and they want WHAT PRICE!?!? Nothing noted in the description like "made out of gold" or "signed by the author on death bed" or "one of a kind edition, because there is are winning lotto numbers inside". Nope just $1,000 for a max of $60 worth of books. These books were being sold by a supposedly 5 star seller, see photos for proof of this ridiculousness!

Then I found this review site and felt the 1.5-2 star average rating was too positive so here I am adding my experience, another 1 star rating, in support of all those victims of this HORRIBLE website!
