If everything is going fine for you but you just need a confidence boost the site is fine but, the problem is that most people go there because they need help. Listeners are not allowed to help and are effectively just echo chambers or they push the therapy services. If people had money for therapy then they wouldn't be there and I shouldn't have to explain why someone with emotional/mental turmoil doesn't need an echo chamber. I think that the worst part is that if the listeners actually try to help anyone or if they don't constantly push therapy they ban their accounts. It's about as useful as the auto insurance spam calls trying to give you a quote for the 7th time in one month.

Bonjour, je suis une jeune française de 14 ans, il y a deux ans maintenant, j'ai fait une depression, j'ai tentée plusieurs fois de me tuer et j'ai fini par aller un peu mieux l'année dernière, je n'en avais parlée à presque personne exceptée ma psychologue que j'ai fini par arrêter de voir, cependant, je sentais depuis quelques mois déjà que je recommençais à me sentir mal et à penser à des choses mauvaises, j'ai donc décidée de ne pas me laisser faire et de rechercher de l'aide en ligne, mes relations familiales étant très mauvaises, j'ai trouvée une "pub" sur pinterest/instagram il me semble et j'ai voulu tenter.
Il était deux heures du matin et j'étais en pleurs sous ma couette.
J'ai parlée à deux personnes, la première, très gentille, à essayée de m'aider mais j'étais gênée et ai fini par inventée une excuse pour quitter la conversation, j'en suis encore désolée et ai quand même mis la note maximale à l'écoutante car elle a quand même su me mettre un sourire sur le visage.
La deuxième personne, était plus directe, j'étais étonnée au début et ne m'y attendais pas, mais au final je crois que c'était ce dont j'avais besoin, j'ai voulu la recontacter par la suite mais je n'ai pas osée.
Me revoici, quelques mois après, me sentant mieux qu'avant et ayant l'impression de guérir.

You know when life seems to be going downhill, there comes one ray of hope out of nowhere and it completely shifts the paradigm of your life? 7 cups has been that to me. I can express enough, I'll fall short of words to tell how helpful being a part of 7 cups has been for me. So much so that it has become an integral part of my life. I can only speak for myself as I'm sure most people are on there with the best intentions and have truly tried to help others like me. I've been dealing with some heavy stuff alone lately and was desperate for a listening ear as I work for the only counseling agency in my area and can't afford to seek help elsewhere so I found this site with the help of google. I connected with a listener and irresponsibly began to share what I was experiencing without testing the waters. The listener dismissed every thing I had just shared and told me to just read a book,, and to go get a girlfriend. Life changing advice lol. He then asked me where I live when it clearly states not to. I felt humiliated sharing my most vulnerable thoughts with someone who's response only invalidated my feelings even further. However after leaving the chat I realized anyone can sign up to be a listener and I was unfortunately paired with phony so I may give it another chance. I think being able to report listeners like this would really earn 7 cups some respect. I worry this could happen to someone in a much worse place mentally & one lousy response like the one I got would be enough for someone to abandon hope & take their life. Please don't think I'm trying to gain pity but people should really get a feel for the person they are paired with before getting too vulnerable :( the listeners screen name was Understandingbiker

I have been using 7cups for a few years now and I started as a member to get help dealing with my emotional issues.
I found some patient listeners who helped me express and stay calm.
Since the last few years I have started as a Listener myself, trying to help as many members as I can. The app is a wonderful place for those struggling to get help. With the feature of connecting to a professional therapist, it could definitely help people better.
Although there are a few members who do take advantage of the app to reach to the listeners, ask person questions and also go to the extent of verbally abusing them, I feel it is very important to have a secure space as everyone is a stranger.
But, I do feel 7cups is one of the most helpful apps available where we can talk to about our struggles and get real time help from people like us and from professional therapists.

I spend so much time on 7 Cups because it helps me every time I visit the site. I am scared of going to my family or to my friends but having a simply helpful person to chat with online is leagues better.

This site is amazing and has truly changed my life. The system they use for the listeners is really amazing, and just makes me feel better than I did every time.

I am a man of God. And as such, one of the core tenets of Christianity is that the meek shall inherit the earth. This ideal clearly did not translate to this website. Some on here even regard such thinking as unrealistic and primitive. I have struggled all my life with positive social interaction. Not entirely my fault, but my tragedy. I am on the autism spectrum. So I frequent this website daily, and much the same problems occur: being largely ignored in favor of young people talking about their romantic woes. It seems that the site is predicated on a sort of mental illness hierarchy. Some problems generate more responses than others. And if no one on the website can assist in offering even a kind, non-judgemental ear, mods refer participants to crisis management as a vapid default. I feel like this website is far from egalitarian in its appeal. And as can be the case, it has worsened my paranoia. I also struggle to sleep comfortably at night dwelling on said paranoia. And I was banned from the site, only being allowed back after submitting a statement to improve my behavior. I did not adhere to this rule. It seems that the admins of the site have developed a certain superiority complex. So already severe mental conditions can worsen if someone falls prey to this website's "unpredictability".
