My querencia
October 8, 2020

I'm so glad that I found out this site! I think at times we all need a space to be vulnerable while trying to hold up and go with the flow of this busy world. This place is my querencia. It's nice to see how people come together and support each other. It's such an inclusive community with lots of opportunities too. I've been able to learn a lot and this site changed my perspectives on different things.

This is an awesome site with people ready to help you any time! That's what we are here for<3... Here, you won't ever feel like a burden...*snap* one drawback- it can become addicting over time-both as a listener and as a member... once we start spending too much time here, we withdraw from the people wanting to help us in REAL LIFE... it's way too ADDICTING :(. . But, yes, for short term help, we are great and we are always here for you<3

I love 7cups!
October 6, 2020

I've been using 7cups on and off since 2016. I am a listener and I absolutely love coming on here knowing I'm helping others, or coming on here to get support for myself.

Brilliant
October 5, 2020

I'll keep it short but this is a amazing site filled with brilliant human beings that you can connect to and help solve any issue you may be facing without need to worry about being judged.
This site has been a amazing asset to me over the past year and a half to vent my frustrations and work through challenging emotions and times. Wish I had known of it sooner.
Couldn't praise the people on here higher.
You wont regret using this site.

I've been an active member on 7 Cups since 2017. My experience with the site has been heavily positive. I've connected with a long-term listener who has supported me through various difficulties. It's amazing to think an individual on the other end is volunteering their time to actively listen to my challenges.

The anonymity factor makes this a safe experience for me. Because I grew up in a country that stigmatizes mental illnesses, seeking therapeutic support is nearly impossible - so I pour out my heart's appreciation for 7 Cups. Without this platform, I would remain in silence and left feeling alone.

I've also been active in the Subcommunities - specifically the Eating Disorder Sub community - There is where I could continue to check in with people who are experiencing a similar situation to myself, and ask others about their challenges and how they've been dealing with them.

The greatest experience 7 Cups has given me, is the experience of not being alone. When you know your struggles are shared with others, you're more likely to feel comforted, safer, validated, compassion...

When my listener is not available, I've easily been able to join a general request queue, where I can speak to other available listeners. This convenience has become part of the way I cope when something tough arises.

The beauty about 7 Cups is that it's constantly and consistently growing. I've seen this platform overcome it's own drawbacks and loopholes, and solving any issue that arises. For growth, you need patience. Cups continues to refine it's policies and structures, and continues to implement new strong projects and initiative which has remained inclusive for the wider community.

Thank you 7 Cups! For being an available option for those who have as close to nothing when it comes to mental health support. I will continue to utilize your available features and options for as long as the option remains!

I've been a user of 7 Cups for 5 years. Both as member and listener. The platform was great until 2016-2017 when they have made changes due to that, some great people left.
7 Cups is free and anyone can use it but it also attracts trolls and abusers, 7 Cups doesn't do enough efforts to stop them apart from intuitives for volunteers to help them with that issue. It's easy for anyone to make accounts, can be members or listeners accounts, and start abusing vulnerable members.
The platform is operated by multiple teams Tech, community etc. The community has very few members who are paid administrators, but 90% of the work is done by volunteers. The main purpose of all leadership roles ( both administrative paid jobs and voluntary roles) is to maintain the concept of " community". Being apart of support community can be helpful but in long run it's addictive. While many people find it helpful, 7 Cups also find it helpful because that what makes the volunteers make most of the work for 7cups (with enthusiasm and excitement) for free because they believe they are making valuable contributions to a community they belong to. It's anonymous and if you delete your account, all what you have done for the platform is forgotten specifically if you were someone who believes in 7 Cups. Your work remains at 7Cups and they will use it, but none knows who you are. 7 Cups has become as it is now by the efforts of volunteers.
7 Cups certainly uses aggregated data from the chats transcripts to conduct research and studies as stated in 7 Cups privacy policy.
All over those 5 years, there has not been any changes to improve listeners quality which is weird, the only thing that worries 7 Cups owners was making sure more users come to 7cups. For that they launched 7 Cups in many different languages and, of course, those who make the translations are volunteers.
If you want to be a listener and volunteer your time to help someone in need then do it. If you want to take leadership roles on 7Cups, know you're a volunteer and 7 Cups is for-profit organisation. It is not charity.
There are many listeners who sincerely want to help others. If you want to reach out to 7 Cups, do it but be careful.
Unfortunately, 7 Cups is getting worse every day and more good listeners are constantly leaving and many trolls coming. It gets harder to find good listeners.

7 CUPS, THANK YOU
October 3, 2020

Sometimes you could have a nice experience, sometimes a bad one, this place is for people that want to talk to someone, sometimes that someone is a very thoughtfull, skilled, kind person that's only willing to pay attention to you and your issues for a while and other times is a mean person that you can avoid. The bad experiences are based on the fact that over here, you deal with people. This place give you the opportunity to be a better person, help others, without giving advices but listening to them and talking with them. It's the most human place on the internet and has never let me down. You can block the people that it's trying to pick a fight, be rude or plain to have sexual chats so it's a safe place.

7 cups advertises itself as a mostly free service, with the option of one on one therapy for $5 a day with a three day FREE TRIAL PERIOD. Not only do they immediately charge you $150 should you sign up for that service, free trial or not. No refunds seem to be available after cancellation and the support email they provide is not a real email. I had to go to reddit to find a refund request form, which I have filled out about 15 times with a single response offering me $35 off my next subscription. I have called as many times all during business hours and am consistently sent to voicemail- a voicemail that promises a returned call or email within the week and sends me to a redundant email. DO NOT USE THIS APP! THIS IS A SCAM! I am being charged daily for an account in arrears and if this continues I will have no choice but to report their website.

TBH
September 19, 2020

I read all the comments, and I do agree that 7 cups has some issues that need to be fixed but honestly, I was googling suicide hotlines the day I found 7 cups. And it worked like magic for me. The intention behind the community is just so pure and good. People actually are willing to listen, and more than a therapist, you have a friend. I made some really good connections with many people on the site, relating to them in different ways yet so deeply. As long as you limit your use on this app, don't get addicted to it, keep healthy boundaries, I think it should definitely work on your end! But apart from that, I think the flaws are accurately expressed by some other people here, so I don't feel the need to repeat them! It's still your choice if you want to give it a try or not:)
Have a good day!

It has a number of trolls that kinda sour the whole, otherwise pleasant, experience of the site. Yes, it is run by volunteers and hence you can only expect so much quality from the site.
Although there are paid services where you can connect with professional therapists on the site.
