ZenMarket has 61 customer reviews and ranks 525th in the Marketplace category. Common review topics include customer service.
As someone in Australia who has used Zenmarket for years, I can highly recommend this service. They offer multiple competitive prices and exchange rates. The method of purchase is very easy, and they also offer a number of Japanese platforms from which to purchase. Shipping has always been timely, and the parcels have always arrived safely. I have never had to deal with customs issues or fees, though that may have to do with my location.
Overall very good service, good value for money in both buying a product as well as shipping. More than enough shipping options covering all prices and time ranges.
I ASKED FOR SEVERAL FAKE REVIEWS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND THEY HAVE BEEN REMOVED, PLEASE SEE VIDEO ON THIS PAGE - (IN FACT MORE HAVE BEEN REMOVED SINCE THIS VIDEO WAS MADE)
First written in Feb 2023, I proudly showed Zen and Andriy this review around the end of April.
Then between May 22nd - May 26th a total of 22 - TWENTY TWO! 4-5 star reviews magically appeared to boost their ratings! Makes me wonder who these people really are...? 39 REVIEWS ACROSS A PERIOD OF YEARS, THEN...
22 REVIEWS IN 4 DAYS!
Before May 22nd 2023 and THIS post in their faces, 39 reviews and total 2.5 star rating - CUSTOMERS OVERALL UNHAPPY
After May 26th 2023, 61 reviews and total 3.9 star rating...CUSTOMERS OVERALL HAPPY! WOW!
Please see my photos for a review by Diala on Trustpilot, and also for the EXACT SAME REVIEW BY DIALA on this site! Wow, she was compelled to really show her gratitude. Then there is the message from Igor on Trustpilot where Zenmarket managed to reply to... themselves?! OMG! **(Diala has also now been removed, check video vs site at present)**
In other words check out all the 1 star reviews and don't trust Zenmarket!*
Three bad deliveries with broken electronics, one of which caught fire. You can see photos as attached and also the linked Youtube video below. They will blame anyone for packing. One time they dragged it out and to appease them, I did what they asked and contacted SF Express; they said Zenmarket didn't even answer their response! They certainly didn't tell me! (see the email from SF express attached). It's clear they just try as hard as possible to pass the buck.

I made them so many videos and showed them the truth as best I could capture it, also left a review on Trustpilot which Zenmarket chose to flag instead of comment upon or respond to. I had to edit the review, but thankfully this site (SiteJabber) allows people to write honest reviews, provide links, photos and videos as evidence. Note the difference in ratings and you get some idea of how things work. There is something really fishy with the differences to reviews written here as opposed to other review sites.
I then got in touch with their CEO Andriy Naumov, who fobbed me off for a week and then gave me some kind of pre-written response, or his secretary wrote it for him. After a week, I asked for some kind of answer, he told me the same old from the team, or his secretary did.
Check him saying "Zenmarket are legally obliged to contact shipping companies regarding any refund they are making!
Legally obliged to the Japanese government? He's the CEO of his company, I'm not sure if he needs to write expenses receipts to himself by law in order to settle up for damaged goods. See video attached and pics too for my convo with "him". It's utter lies!
Last time I messaged them, they blocked me from all activity other than messaging (see attached pic with brown banner). There are so many better companies, again check the video linked above. Also, after Zen kicked me off I eventually did have a package checked by customs and they taped everything and stuck a note on it to say they had been inside, so they clearly don't smash up my stuff for fun. Also FromJapan who mailed it did a stellar job of packing, just like the other two parcels in my Youtube video.
Zenmarket's packing is terrible, they try to blame everyone else. I've been using FromJapan since.
As said, watch the above YouTube video, AND WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW HERE or look at the sheer amount of smashed up items in photos below if you want to see why!
They scam you on shipping prices if you live in the USA. Extremely slow reply service, please use any other reshipping from Japan.
I input my full address but for some reason, they system only captured my postal code and phone number. I was charged SGD 21.40 processing for incomplete address. Approached Zenmarket but they refused to admit fault.
My balance in the Zenmarket, i wanted to withdraw but was told that payments beyond 180 days cannot be withdrawn. Really angry. I had more than 7000 yen.
If not for the money that I had topped up to Zenmarket, I would have used Buyee.
The reason why I topped up money to Zenmarket was I wanted to make a pre order but after payment, was told that order cannot be placed.
Hello everyone, this is a serious and good company and have a good line of Customer Service, if anytime you have a problem they will do their best to put you in your side.
Everything was fine until the shipping cost. My item was $7 i waited a 3 days for them to buy my item then 4 days for it to get their and 3 more for them to pack my item. Before i bought from here again since ive used the service before i used a shipping calculator to check what my shipping fee was going to be it said $5 once the shipping fee on the website came back it was $14 now if my item is about $7 and the fee i should be paying is $5 then why is my shipping fee double the price of my item please do not buy from ZenMarket it is way to much the items are cheaper but the shipping fee is way to much.
It's all fine and dandy until anything goes wrong, such as the seller sending you a completely different item to what was listed.
They will do absolutely nothing about it, and have the audacity to charge you a further fee to dispose of it with zero reimbursement what so ever. They flat out refuse to report the sellers, stating it'll hurt their business (meaning they can't profit from others being scammed). The seller I purchased from relisted the identical item with the same pictures and description days after, with the intention to deceit, and they just shrugged their shoulders.
They've taken their commission and will milk more out of it.
To make a long story short I ordered a limited edition lottery item priced at about 700usd for my birthday and it ended up being declared lost
Fine not the fault of zen market at all
The problem is how they are going about handling my refund
I called the shipping company to ask if zenmarket had taken the steps yet to open up a claim for my already declared lost package and they informed me that there was nothing generated on their end for my package and that I should urge the shipper to start the process so I could receive my refund as it's supposedly not too long of a process
So I did exactly what they told me
And when I did zenmarket gave me attitude about how I had been informed that nothing was generated yet and a date they supposedly started it but completely ignored that I asked for a case number or some sort of something showing the process has actually been started after being told directly from the shipping company that there was nothing generated for my tracking number
The package being lost is absolutely not their fault but I'm realizing that the customer service isn't that great
It's been months and that's a decent chunk of money to just loose especially for something that can't be purchased again I just want to know for sure I'll get my money back but at this point I'm feeling like they're just gonna string me along and hold the other small packages I have with them hostage
Especially after reading reviews of others with lost packages and experiencing the customer service attitude myself
100% not using this service again after this mostly because the customer service is leaving a bad taste in my mouth
I've used many different proxy's and never seen customer service anything like this
Just the lack of information and communication about the issue on their end in combination with attitude
I'll pass
The entire process was confusing and complicated, you need their permission for everything you want to buy and it can take over 24 hours. So, obviously, I missed the opportunity to buy things I really wanted because it took too long. Then there's the 'shipping cost calculator", this thing is completely useless unless you can predict the size of the box, and you'll only know the size and weight of the box once you've purchased everything and can't go back anymore (because if you cancel you have to pay 10$ per item + whatever fees the original seller wants for shipping and stuff. I had 5 items, so if I wanted to cancel my order I would have to pay at least 50$ in fees.) I used the calculator based on the weight (the only info you have before paying for the items) and it said it would be about 30$ for shipping, a little pricey but okay... It ended up being 50$. I forgot to mention that they also make you pay for shipping within Japan, which is unacceptable because I know the website I used offered free shipping within Japan. So, my package was worth 55$, I paid 25$ in fees (ZenMarket) and 50$ in shipping (FedEx). Then, a month later, I get a letter from FedEx saying I have to pay 20$ in custom fees. So I spent a total of 150$ on a package worth 55$. Don't bother buying with ZenMarket, it's not worth it. Check eBay or Amazon Japan if you're desperate for a specific item.
I have had a few orders from Zenmarket. The main issue is calculating shipping costs. If the seller do not give out approximate weight, then it's impossible to know how much it costs exactly until the item is ordered. There will be a nasty surprise if the item is heavier than what you think it is. I bought a $80 toy car and thought it shouldn't cost too much. The final shipping cost was over AUS$200! More than the toy itself. So I decided to cancel the order. The cancellation fee was 2000yen. Since the seller refused the refund, I lost AUS$80. Then I'm told I have to pay 1500yen for a disposable fee! So in total I lost AUS$150 for absolutely nothing! Great place to shop… not!
I will never even go into zenmarket site! I placed an order in Sept 1, I still don't have the item. They suspended my account because I opened dispute against my purchase. I paid over $100 on a toy, beyblade. I've been requesting to cancel my order, they declined cancelation instead keep charging me STORAGE FEE? The worst customer service ever! Think twice before doing business with them. I can not even leave a review on their site. All of the reviews are bias. Be careful! They will rip you off. I just lost $100!
Best proxy company. Good customer service and reasonable prices. The time of delivering the products is also very quick
They over charge for everything from bids, to initial shipping to their own warehouse!
They have an arbitrary storage period, afterwhich they will charge you per day. I kept paying the storage fee, then they literally threw my item valued at ¥7500 in the trash!
Buyer is better!
Do not buy from this company. I recently purchased two electronic goods and they packed the parcel with nearly 4Kg of material. It does not sound legit. It is not mentioned on their website how their packing process is and once you find out and want to change shipping method, they charge you repackage fee.
Communicating with them is a nightmare. They answer vaguely and only reply message once or twice a day.
I believe their company strategies to earn money is to charge customers high shipping fee and repackaging fee if the customer does not feel the shipping method is reasonable and wants to change it.
Beware, this company is not honest. I purchased a trading card for my son... the shipping was advertised to be around 2 dollars... in reality the cost was over 20... the card cost less than 10. I wrote to cancel the order... they charged me a cancellation fee equal to the cost of the card and still charged more for fees (I am still not yet aware of what they are)... meanwhile they are still asking for more money to cover shipping costs of an item they have charged me to cancel... the shipping cost is nearly triple what the item is worth... so if I pay everything they ask, I will have purchased the item (twice) and paid more than twice that for shipping as well as some other fee... STAY AWAY FROM THIS if you want to keep your money
It takes weeks before you have your order ready to be shipped to you and they charge high fees
I will never use their service again
I've used Zenmarket about like 6 times and i've gotta say they are pretty straight forward with the payment systems and the 300 yen fee.The only real downside is often they just deduct the shipping within japan(from the seller to the warehouse) with out any real confirmation... like its not a huge deal but often sellers on yahoo auctions give this vague estimate for how much it'll be. So i recommend adding about $5-$15 extra when you wanna purchase an item via yahoo auctions japan just to be safe ( they do have the net of credit if u don't really care so that's really nice)
I cannot comment for those who have had issues but I bought the items they were sent to the warehouse and once everything arrived it was packaged and shipped. It took longer than expected but not by an unreasonable amount. This isn't amazon and things are not instantaneous particularly given the current pandemic but as long as you're rationally patient and don't expect miracles you shouldn't be disappointed. Customer service does take some time to respond but are helpful.
I've been using Zenmarket Pretty much every week.On yahoo auctions. And i dont have one complaint. Fair shipping costs no hidden fees. A "rewards" type system with a credit line for faithful buyers. Which is fantastic. Anything from In box neo geo cd system to rare anime collectables. It's not them taking time for shipping its the sellers on the auctionsAnd they deal with a lot of people. You have to be patient 10 out of 10 for me.
