So disappointed with the new-stye WU app! Too many reasons to list but most are mentioned in the reviews that pre-date this one. I might subscribe if I thought that would get me the old features and convenience back - but now trust is lost!
It is difficult to navigate and provides less information in a much poorer format than the previous version. In short, IBM, you have clearly sent a "screw you" message to formerly loyal Wunderground users. So long.
Weather Underground used to be my go-to weather App. Now it's so annoying and frustrating to use I don't even want it anymore. It's hard to read, and impossible to decipher rain times and wind speeds at a glance. You have to go to the annoying charts and scroll up and down to find the corresponding time. Ugh. They ruined a perfectly good App.
`Much like the rest of the web it's caved in completely to the dummy phone people. That's why they take away features as it's harder on phone people to scroll thru that not knowing what this or that does. On a phone you have limited screen estate and a lot of people it uses up minutes fast if they scroll thru these 'cool' options so no it's not at all profitable in their minds. That's why they still survive as they get 'unique' clicks and pay Google to be at top. Google is in BIG BIG trouble for their monopolies. Google forced the web to this dumb design back in 2011 when they purchased Watson AI and got rid of their human algorithms. Other search engines soon did the same. Such an ASININE choice.
LIBERALS do not know how to run a business except to the ground which is why we are in the retail crisis. The original founders either died or retired so the kids took it over then they handed it to board of directors that all went to Harvard never running a business in their life. Payless was one of the first.
They did As Seen on TV pills in all their pharmacy sections because it worked in Marin California where it's ultra left shortly afterwards Payless.inc went into debt and declared chapter 11. Sears bought Kmart which both were failing due to bad management. You don't buy a sick business while being sick yourself.
All these companies got propped up during the Obama era to keep going despite being failed. The props are now gone with different sets of people in charge. Google had an office next to Obama.
In the future the app community will use the phrase 'dont wunderground it!' to warn of impending app update doom.
What a complete travisty.
Obviously the bad changes were intentional. And designed to eliminate useful features and hide others. What would be the motivation to do this?
I deleted my weather station from their site. They won't help me, I won't help them.
Just piling on here. I cannot believe how much worse this app got with the new update. No more precipitation totals, far less functional forecast charts (the trendline labels aren't even by the right lines!), no detailed forecast descriptions, no widgets, slow to open and load, the animated compass points thing is pointless and distracting, etc., etc., etc. I assume we have IBM to thank. I've been a huge weather underground fan for years and am ready to give up on it now. RIP weather underground.
Amazing how something so good could be ruined so quickly.
This used to be my favourite weather app. If they would just bring back the widget that would be something. Such a shame.
Used this for years as my only weather app. Data I was able to find quickly before, seems to be gone. Display of data is utterly confusing.
Used WU for years... daily precip totals great feature, indication when precip might start good, all info in one easily to view location... now all gone with one update... who thinks this is product improvement... this is called turning a good product into garbage... already looking for a new app! Bye bye!
Was best weather app, but no more. Almost all info was in one place. Now need to scroll. Can't use in landscape mode on my tablet.
Whomever thought the changes on you app would be appealing to your users did not do their homework. We want quick and easy. We're not all "weather geeks". Don't make me go back to weather.com!
The UI is confusing and information is not as readily available as it once was. It seems some propeller heads decided to mimic windows 10 and the terrible metro interface. Info is either missing or moved to some sub-screen that nobody knows about. Is it wunderground (IBM) or Microsoft?
Not much to say increased clutter, bad functionality, poor displays. What else to explain of the IBM touch. I am adding a few characters to see if I can get it to display.
I have been a WU fan and subscriber for years. I have also talked with others about its accuracy and functionality and many of them shifted to it as well. I absolutely hate the updated app and no longer use it. The ability of using portrait mode on my iPad is gone, precipitation forecast totals is gone and the other changes are hard to use/understand. Not sure who thought all of this change was a good idea, but hope they are happy with the number of users and paid advertisers they are losing.
I am a landscaper who used this app for years very successfully to plan my days. I have an I pad stand and cannot use it in portrait mode and I cannot understand your graphs and re design. I am truly angry that you could destroy something that worked so well. I had to change apps and it is still not as good. It is unusable for me and it is going to fail for you! Disgusted!
Other reviewers have said it all. The new app sucks. The old one was terrific. Please fix this app. I'm looking for something better but not having much luck.
Where did the basically 'good' app go. The widget on my phone disappeared with no replacement in sight. The app is unreadable and full of spam. They don't even have to gather the data, since it's crowd sourced from 1000s of home weather stations, just compile and display the data. I'm looking for an opensource weather app now, this is a waste of my time...
Also I had paid to use the app with no adds, but can't find anyway to reactivate that 'account' or any record of me paying... strange. Wouldn't hand them a cent now...
I've used wunderground as a golf course superintendent for years strictly because of the precipitation accumulation forecast that was underneath every day... now that is totally gone and it's a game changer... totally ruined the app
Has been my go to weather app for years, then in December 2019 they overhaulef it and now its just complete trash. I finally gave up and removed it, so sad to see a company implode it's best product.
Answer: This was deliberate calculated sabotage for some reason
Answer: It won't come back. IBM bought The Weather Company to get at the data so they could package and sell that to their corporate customers using their "Watson" cloud services. Individuals mean nothing. That they've managed to so thoroughly destroy what was once the premiere weather site says a lot about the incompetence behind their core "Watson" products. You might want to tell IBM that.
Answer: They hired a bunch of idiots to manage and design their new site. This included removing features and gutting the radar.
Answer: Yes. We have many employees who come to work each day desperate to appear productive and relevant. We ask them to destroy functional lean websites with bloated nonsense. Meanwhile, our executives require more money so we like to devastate communicative websites with ad-infested infestations of pus-riddled idiocy. Thanks for asking!
Answer: Pointless giving feedback/complaints. I tried this and got an automated reply telling me how much better it was!
Answer: Your local Tv station meteorologist.
