I was denied a grocery store purchase, so I contacted the infamous Direct Express customer service, who claimed there was nothing wrong with my card,and that. MasterCard was denying the purchase (I contacted MasterCard; they are not authorized to deny any transactions.) The recommended complaint line for Direct Express is an email to the Federal Trade Commission, which after emailing them explaining I cannot access funds a available on my account, and that Direct Express/Comercia Bank, contracted by the U.S. Dept. Of the Treasury offers no resolution, the FTC just sent me a disclaimer stating they cannot access my account and to once again contact the disfunctional Direct Express customer service for more lies. They acknowledge that there are funds available; everything else is deception and smokescreens from liars guaranteeing if I go to another ATM, the card will work. Not true, as it's Christmas, and all transactions are still Wrongfully Denied. THIS IS A TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE AFFECTING THOUSANDS OF SENIOR AMERICAN CITIZENS WHO ARE HAVING THEIR RETIREMENT REVENUE WITHELD WITHOUT ANY RECOMPENSE FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT? GREVIOUS, SICKENING, INCONCEIVABLE PRACTICES BY A BANK CHOSEN BY THE TREASURY DEPARTMENT,AND STILL GETTING AWAY WITH IT? THIS DESPICABLE, CORRUPT BANK IS RUINING LIVES, WHILE THE FEDS LOOK THE OTHER WAY! UNBELIEVABLE, YET TRUE.
Money was fraudulently removed from an ATM. Direct Express denies this. There is a discrepancy on the date between what their record shows and what my account record states.My card was denied a day before the fraud occurred, so I reported it. According to my DE account record, the fraud happened one day in the future? Absurd! Direct Express handles money for the federal government, and is being sued in a class action lawsuit because they have ripped off many elderly, and disabled Americans on fixed income. This travesty of justice must be addressed by the Attorney General of the United States!
Avoid this bank. They refuse to let you ACH your money to another bank. They are scammer. They hold your money to make the interest on it. There is no communications from them and their customer service is lazy. They just tell you everything good on their end it the other bank. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Get your money in a real bank and not this bank. They should be closing their door soon I we are lucky.
My son has a direct express card where his disability money goes too the people who work for direct express are thieving ur money and pretending they don't know and saying the can't help you or file a claim. I go to us bank to make a cash withdraw for my monthly benefit in the amount of $1000 plus $3 dollar fee. The ATM machine said hardware malfunction your cash has been retracted. Failed to dispense my money, but still charged my card this entire amount...US bank has not done anything to investigate and direct express has not even once contacted US bank ---- it's going on a week now! I have been out of money A WEEK, nobody seems to give a s***. Not even a provisional credit has been issued ON MY ACCOUNT. I've been using direct Express for over 10 years and have never had to file a dispute until now. I am not happy about how any of this is being handled both by direct express and us bank. Im sitting here broke and can't buy food or EVEN pay bills. It's unacceptable!

This company is a joke. You can't get through. If you do it's over a 2 hour wait time. My account was accessed and address change and for extra was able to get a new card expedited to a different address. Then for extra fun they took all my money from another state. This company couldn't offer any protection from this happening. Where is our security? This is our income and now I have to wait 45 days for the company to review the case. I can't believe them. I already called Medicare and had my next deposit transferred to my other bank account. Please don't use this company. And they charged me for a new card reg 5-7 day delivery. No care in the world.
My first call was the wrong number. I was told abruptly that I had the wrong department and to call back. No sorry, but...no let me see if I can help you get to the right person. She disconnected with no hesitation like I had interrupted her day. That is what prompted me to look at reviews. I will not be signing up!
To anybody that uses this card I don't know why I don't even know how Social Security is using it. I'm gonna be calling Social Security on Monday morning because nothing but the runaround with a bunch of foreign people that don't speak English. They've hung up on me several times. I just got hung up on again this morning, this is ridiculous These are my government checks. Foreign people are asking me for my Social Security number all my information and then hanging up on me. These people are getting sued left and right and I want my $450 back.
I see a lot of people did not get their ssi benefits on their card and Direct Express is saying it's fraud and people are not getting their cards in the mail my kids were robbed for their money this month I've been with this company for seven years and this has never happened until now innocent people are being robbed this company needs to get shut down and it needs to a class action lawsuit filed by everyone this has happened to they told me it takes 90 days for an investigation and I don't think it's guaranteed after that, you will get your money back I'm going to SSI and switching everything to paper checks somebody that works in Direct Express out of NewYork took my kids ssi benefits before it could even land on the card at 1:15 AM 11/1/23 when I called to see what was going on I was told that I made transactions with a vendor Valerie LLC out of NewYork I've never did business with this person I think their using AI and authorizing purchases on people's cards and making it look like it was the card user that authorized the purchases only Direct Express have access to every customers card information I never authorized anybody to use my card my card was in my possession the whole time and I did not make any purchases 11/1/23 I can't believe they are allowed to do this without getting in trouble who is better than Direct Express? I suggest everybody need to cancel their accounts this is a hard battle but we must stand up against these crooks.
Customer service rep sounded like he hated his job and had a TERRIBLE attitude. Should definitely get More customer service training or be fired. Terrible experience after being on hold for a hour and on top of that being hung up on twice without ever even talking to anyone human by the automated system. All over terrible experience. But I did get my question answered. GEESH!
If you need to talk to someone about a problem with your account don't bother you have to call 50 times in a row just to get it to not hang up on you because they set up a automated website so they wouldn't have to work and even when you do get someone on the line (expect it to take about 2 hours btw) they tell you there is nothing they can do even if you tell them you where assisted with the same problem before

I have my veterans disability payments going to DE and am in the Philippines ever 6 months I have to update with them. They make this process very difficult and this month of October I have not been able to update. They won't give me access to my funds due to they believe fraud. I have given them all the info they ask for SS # home address ect. They say that in order to update my card has to be declined here. And I have to call within 24 hours but it takes 2 to 3 days just to get to speak to them. I am a long way from home and I need my money. Bad business I will transfer my benefits to another account. They are really bad hard to contact
I'm in my fourth week still no card the investigation took shorter than me getting a replacement card. I reported foreign activity on my account. I did not withdraw money from ATM on that day in Queens I was in Long Island NYPD detective's house celebrating his son's 1 year birthday. Just a reminder the birthday boy father is Batman. Investigation took less than a week to decide that I was at fault can't be in two places at the same time I wish that was possible. US Direct 1.2 rating really sucks
Answer: Absolutely not! The system is automated if you can meet your need via that system you will be good to go. If you need to speak to a human it could takes hours and days. I've been calling for 4 days. Every hour 2 - 20 calls an hour. I receive the message they have a high call volume, they tell me to try again later and then they disconnect they call. Their practices are abusive.
