The problem with this site is that 90% of the definitions are totally incoherent hodgepodges of sexual crap that doesn't make any sense and it's also full of trolls

POOR
April 22, 2018

Get everything wrong. So many examples! For instance saying 'cream crackered is wasted on drink/drugs. 'Cream crackered' is 'knackered' or tired. So wrong. About as urban and hip as a portacabin on Mars. Rubbish

Vile racist entries are accepted and published. No system to leave detailed feedback. It should be shut down as promoting hatred. A site to avoid.

A single fetid mind can log on to Urban Dictionary, make up a "definition" that absolutely no one uses, and UD and search engines such as Google will give it weight it doesn't deserve. Many perfectly fine terms and phrases are tainted because some vulgar kid got to them first. As a writer, countless times you can invent a new term for something, Google it just to be sure the name's not taken by something real, and find that the top results are vulgar garbage with one or two upvotes (and thus not worthy of being remotely close to the top results). This is partially the search engine's fault but UD is also to blame.

Clearly, a typical UrbanDictionary boardroom meeting must reek of pretentious tats, excessive cursing, and skateboard epoxies -- pew! I would use this site sparingly, maybe for a slang synonym (at most). And even there, it's so childish and subjective.

I'd opt for sites like slangsite.com, peevish.co.uk/slang, Thesaurus.com, rhymezone.com, sentencedict.com, and etymonline.com for a more mature and professional inquiry.
If you're serious about your future, and not just looking to stretch your adolescence with delusional comradery, then avoid Urbandictionary all together.

Rather informative at times to find out the meanings of words I sometimes bump into. However I`ve seen some of those which have slightly other meanings - would be great if it had some function of editing or smtn like that.

Someone posted a definition of a last name, clearly this person had a beef with a person with that last name. UD published it without any kind of verification and now my child is getting teased at school. I have written to them to have it removed.

Urban dictionary allowed anyone to bash another person freely on the internet using derogatory language. A feature that should NOT be allowed to use freely on the internet because it promote cyber bullying.

1/3/2017 Update:

They clearly don't care about the blatant exploits on their site. I know removing another star from the review won't do anything but I'd advise people to ignore this site full of tryhard script kiddies and 4chan $#*!s.

I emailed them regarding my issue and never heard back.

This means:

A) They know about this exploit (downvote scripts), could fix it, but don't care.
B) They don't know how to fix it.
C) They've tried to fix it in the past, and have given up.

In any case, this site sucks.

9/6/2016 Original:
I have been using Urbandictionary since 2003 and have added over 100 definitions. They have increased their standards in the past 5-10 years but a lot of the top definitions are relics from the past that wouldn't be accepted by the editors today.

The worst part about UD is the awful voting system. It is very easy for dedicated jerks to exploit it and downvote people. I was a victim of this over the past few days. I used to have several definitions with many more upvotes than downvotes, but due to the dedication of some script kiddie brigade, all of my definitions have more downvotes than upvotes. I suspect they don't care but I filed a report with their help section and if they respond to me and fix this issue I might give them another star.

TLDR: Do not trust the votes on here.

The Urban Dictionary is extremely racist and offensive towards blacks and many other people. I don't really appreciate seeing the "N" word used to describe black people in so many shameful ways. The site should be ashamed!

Disgusting
March 28, 2016

The first (and last) time I used this dictionary to define the word 'trenchant' it uses a very filthy word in the definition- ( motherf...). Totally uncalled for! What if it had been my grandchild looking up a definition for a school project? Disgusting!

I agree with most of the reviews: Urban Dictionary is a really fun and interesting site. And especially useful when looking for a name for your brand new creation (your site, business, program or app). Doesn't hurt to search here after googling the term, just to avoid surprises.

This is very interesting and my favorite site. Children, parents and youngsters use it many times. They can bookmark it. They can find the proper things that they actually want to know. If you are looking for a word or phrase meaning in your handy Encyclopedia, I would like to suggest you to use this site named online urban dictionary. It is really an awesome site.

If you are looking for a word or catch phrase meaning that cannot be found in Webster's or in your handy Encyclopedia, I would suggest that you make use of this site called as online urban dictionary. When we come across a "gangsta" language, we cannot help but be confused with what the other is writing and talking about.
With the openness of online communication nowadays and the steady influence of social networking, the use of slang terms easily spread around making it sometimes hard to comprehend what the other person is talking about.
I have seen many bloggers and friends routinely including these slang terms, and I think it is best to know what they mean so I won't get lost in the process. With the online urban dictionary and its newly developed app on your mobile gadget, I can easily find the answers I am looking for without any problem.
