Tumblr is definitely a win!
September 22, 2012

Tumblr is definitely a win! On Tumblr, you create your own blog and you can post your own art, stories, pretty much anything you want. You can also find other blogs you like, follow them, and "reblog" their stuff. Try it yourself--you won't regret it.

Web 2.0 tools have made sharing tastes, interests, and more than anything stories more possible than ever. Social news and networking sites are the primary vehicles for this exchange of information, with different sites geared toward different methods of distribution.

Tumblr delivers content through a "dashboard", an aggregate feed of any tumblelogs subscribed to by the account holder. Users sign up for an account, which includes the creation of a blog of their own. Tumblr's approach to content is interesting as it is not simply just following other blogs and posting your own original content. Tumblr allows you to "reblog" others' content, which conveniently copies whatever the content was, with an option to add new text. Additionally, if enabled on a tumblelog's settings, users may submit questions to the blog which can be responded to privately or published on the blog.

This direction in content publishing means Tumblr is best served as a way to communicate personal information such as taste, stories, and multimedia. Essentially, Tumblr takes the format of a blog, and pairs it with the social networking aspect of Twitter. Just like Twitter though, Tumblr is increasingly being used as a method of spreading more than just personal information with groups and companies as well as individuals, such as GQ, Barack Obama's re-election campaign, and The Economist running very active tumblr accounts.

Tumblr is another blogging platform where users can post text, quotes, pictures, video, etc. I have tried several other blog websites and this one might be the easiest to use. Most people just read their feed and simply reblog things they like. Search for any keyword and dozens of things will pop up. Most entries on the blog are short or just pictures, but it's still useful for longer entries. There's a lot of neat, new things you can find from this site, and it's a lot of fun and simple to explore new interests or delve deeper into things you already love.

I think tumblr is a really great website were you can find many photos you like and post them into your own photo blog. It takes some people a while to get the hang of it but once your've got it, it is pretty addictive.

At first this seems like a really cool website. But it gets really boring really fast. You can't interact with other members easily. You can't comment on others' posts. It seems like it discourages social interaction.
Also one can get followers really easily which is nice and fun, but it can only be so much fun.

Tumblr is fun!
June 29, 2011

Tumblr is fun! For an amateur blogger, and someone who just wants to vent, it's a great place to be! It's pretty easy to use, although they just installed new updates on the interface, but regardless, it's still convenient! It has kind of lost it's flair of really being a BLOG since mostly what you will see on your "dashboard" is a ton of pictures of boys and girls from celebrities to people you don't know and a ton of animals (but it all depends on who you "follow"! If you're looking for a REAL blogging site, I don't recommend you getting a tumblr. It's filled with mostly middle school to high school kids, with a few collegetes!

If you're looking for light, casual blogging, Tumblr's the way to go! Find a different blog host though if you're trying to get serious!

This is somewhat like a combination of a blogging tool and twitter. Very easy to use and I think this may become my blogging tool of choice. I would suggest anyone who has a blog or is interested in starting a blog to check this out.

Tumblr has found a "Unique" Audience - According to Compete.Com, Tumblr.Com has over 1 million unique viewers a month, and almost 3 times that in total visits on a monthly basis. Before I even looked at Tumblrs numbers, I was prompted by friends to check out the site. Often I find myself in a flutter with Twitter and can't seem to save myself from the sea of numbers, letters and links, overwhelming to say the least! But Tumblr has pulled me from a feathery grave of "Tweets" and planted me in one its visually expressive universe that I can relate to. The only thing wrong with Twitter is that its not Tumblr. Thank you Tumblr.Com!
