Trusted Housesitters is far and away the better option for finding house and pet sitting gigs vs housecarers.com and Mindmyhouse.com. The website could use some better functionality but I am very happy with the service. As a sitter, I am able to provide my own references outside of Trusted Housesitters (eg previous employers and pet sit references from other sources) and provide my own background check. After my first pet sit through Trusted I was then reviewed by the host, much like on Airbnb, and I could leave a review of them as well. The sign up fee is a bit pricey, but if you are serious about finding a quality sitter, or a quality gig, then the fee is worth it. Certain areas have more sits available (like Canada, California, and England) but that is hardly the company's fault.
We've had great experiences in our sits but the only problem is that we constantly fall in love with the pets we take care of. Trusted housesitters provides a great way for home owners with pets to find suitable persons willing to care for both. I do suggest a phone conversation which gets everyone online to get to know each other and both sitters and pet owners feel to comfortable with each other. We can't wait to go on our next assignment!
We're newly retired and wanting to travel, but have plants and pets we also care a lot about. Trusted Housesitters has been wonderful, connecting us with good people - who often become friends. It's been a great service for us! Their only help with any questions has also been excellent
Trusted Housesitters is providing a fabulous service to people seeking loving care for their pets and respectful, appreciative Housesitters. I have used them twice in 3 months and had great experiences both times. I highly recommend TH for connecting people in a comfortable environment that allows both parties to interact with one another to find good matches.
Fortunately I currently live in a popular area for people looking to travel so it's a bit easier to find housesitters/petsitters, at least during key travel times. But, if you're just looking for a random weekend or if you're not in a popular area, it may be tougher to find someone. I have had great success so far with petsitters who came highly rated. The site makes it easy to provide everything in one place with the assurance of help when needed (though I have not had to avail myself of that help). As I've looked for house-sits when I'm traveling, that's been much tougher to find, as there don't seem to be many people using the service or else they've gotten snatched up quickly and if you aren't always on the website looking, there doesn't seem to be a way to get notifications of places available.
If you love to travel to new places at your expense and love animals, you can house sit at many beautiful homes and very enjoyable pets. Make sure your host leaves you refrigerator space and freezer space. We have enjoyed 4 very enjoyable experiences in less than 1 year. We look forward to more sits in warmer weather than we have in Ontario.
A great service to match pet owners with pet lovers. We have used the service twice and have had such wonderful experiences and made new friends. We have a small farm with cattle, chickens, turkeys and three dogs, and am delighted that Trusted Housesitters exists so we can leave our loved pets and farm knowing they will be well cared for.
This is a total win-win situation. Happy owners, happy housesitters, and most of all, happy pets. Wonderful trade. I've been sitting with them for over 2 winters and over a dozen housesits, and I've had a wonderful time.
We've used Trusted Housesitters three times now and have hit the jackpot every time with really excellent sitters, twice for a month and once for a shorter stay. We'd have any of them back. We didn't worry about our house or pets at all wile we were traveling. I'm so glad this site exists!
I used TrustedHousesitters and had a sitter take care of my pet last weekend. For the amount of traveling I do, this service pays itself many times over. It is fraction of cost as compared to other services( like rover) where I would have to pay 20$ minimum per night for a pet sitter to stay at my place.
I am very happy with the company and would suggest it to my friends. Only problem is unless you live in a city or a popular tourist destination, you might not find many sitters. Coz I live in a city, I had 3-5 applications for every sit date.
WE have had nothing but wonderful sitters and we loved our first experience as sitters. We were able to mingle with the locals, our host was friendly, very explicit on the needs of her pets and we just followed her instructions. Easy!
Communication with all of our sitters and host during the selection process has been great.
I recommend this site to everyone I meet and is a pet lover.
Someone told me about this website, so I thought I would investigate it. I ended up signing up and recently had my first house/pet sitter. Who ever developed/designed this site did a great job. Looking forward to using it more.
We recently completed our second pet and house sit. This service is perfect for traveling pet owners and pet lovers. The application process is easy and searching for stays efficient. Communication with the homeowners is straightforward resulting in arrangements that meet everyone's needs. We love finding new places to go and pets to pamper.

Common sense is the prime tool to incorporate into your search for a sitter... TH is only a connector tool which works well only (like the rest of life) when you put in what you get out. Bottom line is don't be lazy. Bottom line is... if you put lot's of time into your profile... you will be rewarded!
We used TrustedHouseSitters for the first time -- we were in Ecuador for two weeks. Kim was great -- she watched our house and cat--in exchange she got to see Seattle. We interviewed a few folks but settled upon a lovely young woman from the UK. This was our first time but will not be our last.
Easy to navigate website and found a house/pet sitter easily. The folks were great with our overly anxious dog. Great value for a whole year! Looking forward to our next time away from home knowing our dog will be in good hands.

I needed a house sitter so I decided to sign up with Trusted House Sitters. I got to the payment page and after many attempts, I was locked out! I called their phone number - "all our representatives are busy on other calls". I then went to chat and was successful in chatting with a young man who had no idea what I should do or why it happened. He said try again tomorrow. I waited the next day. Again a message that no one was available. I went to chat and typed in a message and waited. No one came. I sent in an email and never received a reply!
I will never use a company that I couldn't trust and I don't trust that Trusted House Setters would find a house sitter that I could trust!

This site suggested that there were a great number of house sitting opportunities in my searched area and only after paying their extortionate fee to join and make a profile did the search then reveal that there were only 2 places. One of which I am now suspicious is faked. Do not join this site it's a total scam!

This site didn't provide any sitting opportunities in the whole year, even though I spent £89. Even after cancellation of my annual subscription and change of credit card it was debt again.
