I do not know how they can call themselves an Auction site.
Was the winning bidder on a printer, unfortunately never met the reserve... if i was using Ebay (A Proper Site) i would have sent them an Email asking the reserve, so i could agree and purchase the item (To do this in tradme i would have to deposit money). If this wasn't bad enough they only give the option to open the auction to every member (What was the point of me bidding in the first place should have just waited)... Its a poor mans Ebay, best stay clear.
No protection For the buyer or the seller. Not like the other websites eBay or Amazon has very good Protection both site and if u lose the money always refund without ask. Trademe is the worse charge higher fee and you lose money no protection at all. They even charge $2 per minute mint for calling the customer service at the you have to take the person to court if you not happy with item or the service.
Trade me closed my account and sent me a email stating that i had multiple email addresses linked to trade me that had made purchases but had never fully gone through with sale. Which was a load of crap i have only ever had one account. They then took my funds that was on my trade me account and refuse to refund and not to mention they had stop my auction and claimed against me for it im so mad and angry with them i have emailed and emailed and they have failed to answer me. I have only brought 4 things from trade me and all 4 were full no hassle trades what can i do next? To make matters worse meant to be a new zealand page and have no free 0800 line for customers absolutely ridiculous. Im so disgusted!
I signed up thinking i will have a good shopping experience but unfortunately this site is all about fee, money and spam emails and there is no way to solve that problem. I tried disabling email but no success, i tried closing account but for some reason they need my bank account no and 5$ to close the account. What a rip off. Absoulte disgrace. NOT HAPPY at all
TradeMe used to be a trusted kiwi site - but over the years it has just become a money making corp. Ok - they are there to make a profit - but it should not be at the expense of its own loyal customers with no protection at all. I even reported fake merchandise to them - they didnt care less. So... anything to make a quick buck for them. Over the years I have brought 100 items via TradeMe - with 4 issues. I have brought 2,000 via ebay - zero issues. That says it all.
I was subscribed to the newsletter without my consent and have requested to be unsubscribed several times to no avail.
First time I ever bought from trade me and *******@hotmail.com
AND LAST!
Keep away!
It was clearly sellers fault & items arrived smashed!, because of the negligence of the seller, not the post office, never the less I never got my money back after numerous letters but asked to fill different government forms to complain to government bodies! Shame on you "trade in"! You should be the one who should do that &pay me back in first instance!
This is the worst shopping site I ever used. People try to charge retail prices for damaged 2nd hand junk. It is impossible to find anything because of 100s of auctions for the same $1 shop products on sale for $$$ more than they cost in a shop or on ebay. Shipping is expensive, I can get free shipping on the same products shipped internationally from ebay but have to pay $6-7 for delivery within Auckland. Their customer service is terrible. And it's not related to shopping but the message board attached to their site is truly disgusting. If you're a racist looking for a place to slander Maori and Muslims you will like this site but if you want to buy anything avoid it!
I bought a few things off this site, not many though. I've seen a lot of people who had bad experiences from this because they didn't buy responsibly, but just make sure the seller you're buying from has a good reputation. The purchases I made took a long time to arrive but were exactly what I asked for at a fairly low price. However I have had no experience on selling.
If I could give negative stars I would. This crappy company does not protect the buyer: I bought an item the seller admits was wrecked when they sold it to me and my only recourse is to go to Disputes Tribunal because the clown refuses to refund me and Trademe doesn't intervene in such situations, in fact their customer service team is less than useless and entirely unhelpful, to the point I feel they are practically accusing me of being in the wrong... okay so if I go take this seller to court (and spend even more money filing a case) I have been advised by lawyers should I even win at the Tribunal it's likely the person will try to dodge paying me my refund anyway, even with a court order. Then I'd be out of pocket for the useless item, and have spent even more money on a fee for filing the dispute, and be even worse off! Trademe needs to enforce refunds where seller fault is clear, but they do nothing at all apart from sit on their hands. They should do like ebay where funds are directly removed from a dodgy seller's bank account. Fine then, another buyer off to ebay where buyers are actually valued!
Exorbitant fees - from selling, withdrawing a listing to their $1.99 per min phone calls. Why are New Zealanders supporting this? Do your homework - look at other auction sites and eBay Australia. They have a monopoly here which is ridiculous.
Trade me is ebay wannabe but has no consumer protection
I purchased a pump that the seller said was working and holding pressure this
Was a complete lie but trade me did nothing as the seller sells multiple items every week with them but seller says he isn't trade?
Trademe you only copied the basic structure of ebay! They have the protection in place to protect purchaser and seller using paypal (which is owned by ebay and used in virtually every country in the world) what protection do you provide? Apart from being able to recover your fees?
They charged me for removing an auction that had 0 bids on it. Doesn't get much worse than that. Don't support a site that would do this.
Trademe sux eggs, the fees are exuberant, and because of there stupid cockups they have removed me. Wheedle seems the better way to go.
STAY AWAY FROM TRADEME!
Dreadful site no problem paying to place an advert but then if your auction is successful you must pay another ' success' fee....hilarious that you could sell something for $1.50 and the success fee would be $.050! Even more amazing is the cost to speak to someone in their customer service team $1.99 (plus GST) PER MINUTE! Someone really has this sewn up hard to understand why ebay isn't used more in NZ. People looking to sell online have little or no other options. Without doubt a rip off :-(
Trademe offers no buyer protection whatsoever. If you buy and pay and don't get your goods, or they are broken in the post you hjave lost your money. All you can do is leave feedback and Trademe will all to often remove it when the seller complains, especially if it is a big seller - that makes money for Trademe.
Trade me is a New Zealand website designed for selling and buying things. There is only a very small fee for selling things however it is worth it as this website is really great. Me and my family have sold and bought many things from this website and were very happy with it. Trade me has a system where you can see what others have said about some of the sellers and what they rate them so you can decide whether you want to trade with them.
THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE USELESS WEBSITE OUTSIDE OF NZ. THEY EXPECT YOU TO HAVE A NZ BANK ACCOUNT TO BE ABLE TO SELL ITEMS. AN ABSOLUTE SCAM!
The NZ alternative to ebay with great local support. Used many times, everytime a fair trade. Would recommend all use it to save money on items you would otherwise pay alot more for at the stores.
trademe.co.nz is a great site, you don't pay for bids and can see who you will buy from, i have had many great times there and never had any trouble!
