Imagine an entire site where people post art. But in reality its just a place for gatekeeping weirdos. Weebs who have no soul. Furries who think they are animals.

Thank goodness its 18 plus became you where on thin ice with the other art hoes in the art community obsessed with young artists and posting 'P.

Worst of all it's gatekept with a code. You need an account just for one site you can only have.

The site's features and functions are good and work for it's intended purpose, however the issues come from the fact that this site is only run and moderated by a single person, and they're negligent in their site management duties to extreme levels, inconsistent with enforcing the site's official rules and refuses to bring in more admins and moderators to help manage things.

The site's community is extremely toxic, discriminatory, quick to savagely dogpile users over minor mistakes/misunderstandings, will hate and block you just for existing and is also rawling with scammers, trolls, art and character thieves, harassment and other weirdos that shouldn't be allowed to have a platform as a result of the complete lack of active staff and moderators, the existing admin won't even lift a finger to do anything about the serious community issues such as harassment or child endangerment that's present and actively happening on their site when it's reported with undeniable proof and instead blows the victims/negatively affected users off with the nonsensical 'we don't deal with personal issues' excuse.

The only reports they ever seem to respond to and do anything about involves removing people's characters that take inspiration from existing canon characters from popular media (even to a very minor degree where you can't tell it's inspired by a specific character) and punishing the owner of the character without a second thought or even bothering to check the validity of the report, characters that follow the site's official rules as written to the very letter aren't safe from being wrongfully removed if a user decides to be petty or malicious and goes out of their way to falsely report it as 'a canon character ripoff' or 'fan art', this is all very hypocritical as the admin themselves owns blatant ripoffs of canon league of legends characters on their personal account. It seems to be a rules for thee but not for me situation, very unprofessional.

The vile community culture isn't just contained to the toyhouse site itself,'toyhouse drama' blogs exist offsite in places such as tumblr where people anonymously contribute to and use to incite harassment, bullying and attempts to tarnish the reputations and cause mass blocking of innocent users by spreading lies and misinformation just because they personally don't like that user or their art/characters, or they want to see someone torn down over a small mistake/misunderstanding or something else all together stupid such as having different interests in harmless media (good luck if you're a genshin impact, hazbin hotel or harry potter fan, many toyhouse users have a nasty woke mob virtue signalling mentality and seem to really hate people for simply liking or having an interest in these properties) and there's nothing the unfortunate target of this cyberbullying can really do to block, report or otherwise defend themselves from the culprits because it's anonymous and happening outside of toyhouse. These drama blogs really highlight the childish school yard bully and clique mentality this community has.

Keep your kids and vulnerable folks away from this hellsite, the userbase and lack of staff is a serious danger and all the petty, entitled, hateful, childish hair trigger drama will leave your mental health in the gutter.

You know that one family or friend who's amazing at art but for some reason dyed their hair like cotton candy and got crazy hateful and political after 2016 who vanished one day just popped back in to celebrate 2020s election their probably on this site.

Got unlawfully banned and managed to get a code for an account to message the admin. Spent 2 hours debunking claims against me and why my account had been unlawfully banned only to get that new account banned for "ban evasion". Uh- you didn't give me any option to refute the bans or even COMMUNICATE with the one and only mod on the website on my old account, its unorganized and biased. Ran by bullies and drama.

To quote their TOS: "Toyhouse may disable your user account at our discretion without notice or explanation and regardless of your conduct or submitted content. "
Translation: even if you didn't do anything wrong or violate any rules we can still ban you for no reason because we dont like you :)

Great for organizing characters & keeping track of who drew what. HTML & CSS (CSS is premium but premium is inexpensive if you think you need it) customization is available. Very much a site where you don't have to be public or noticeable if you don't want to. Just don't make things public and/or use automatic watermarks and bam.
Do keep in mind this site has virtually no staff response to save you if something happens. Watermark your images so nothing gets stolen, don't interact with minors as an adult and vice versa, don't fake your age if you're a minor, and don't upload anything that doesn't belong to you and you should be fine.

I was given an unused Toyhou.se account and it was great and then I decided to make my own two accounts and i wanted to add an art peice for an oc and I clicked the wrong image for the oc and people started to call me out that the oc was stollen And they started to post pictures of the stollen oc and i replied to them that in the morning i would change the picture and so when i logged on the next morning all three of my accounts were banned and i sent an email to the toyhouse support team last year saying i apologize for uploading another users oc by accident and to this day i still haven't gotten a response from Toyhou.se support...and my accounts are still banned and to top it off my original account was unbanned and i sent a ticket on my other two accounts apologizing for any stollen ocs and what did the admins do banned my unbanned account for bann evasion. I am currently trying to get my accounts unbanned I have a ton of ocs on my accounts that im wanting to save to my computer but the chances of me being unbanned is *******.1% a problem i saw on toyhouse before getting banned is some of the folks on toyhouse were falsely accusing the innocent people of toyhouse for no reason and asking for personal information inorder to adopt a free or to buy a character which is Illegal and dumb. I am still trying to get my accounts and ocs back to this very day. I even have friends on toyhouse who are fighting on my side to get me unbanned...Toyhouse will respond to their support email about bugs you found on the sight this is what i did one time and they responded to my email but then when i sent them an email asking to be unbanned they ignored my email compleatly

I joined toyhouse a few years back as a way to archive my ocs and art but shocked to find how bad it was, the site is hard to use with little to no advice unless you already have friends who know what they're doing, toxic groups of people + just bad people in general but hey good luck reporting them and getting them banned (I've done this a few times but only got one person banned). I've had some serious issues with users, one refused to give me back a character they had said they would multiple times, when I told toyhouse and provided proof I got told since it was on discord it didn't count. Then I delt with someone who contiues to stalk me and encourages people to make false reports on me, all toyhouse have done have said "oh we can't actually do anything but we'll keep that in mind for future reports". I wasn't even shocked when I learnt there is only one admin on the site anymore and they refuse to hire any new staff. Hell I saw someone recently have their premium stolen and given to their friend when all they tried to do was buy their friend premium. Which btw some basic functions are locked behind there: want to look up certain fourm posts? Want to mass upload characters or images, maybe you wanna customised your whole profile? You have to pay for those features not to mention thats pretty much it apart from a star next to your name, not to mention it's not worth the price of what your getting which a broken website. The site has been in beta for years, with your only way of getting in is codes or paying which btw the admin has said they won't do anything against people who want you to buy or trade huge things for codes, like wtf, I've been extremely lucky to find many that work as I have. Tldr I don't recommend this site at all, I've seen people be wrongfully banned but seem actual bad people get to stay on the site, oh and if you do say good bye to all your characters even if your the creator, you won't get to see em. I recommend miniors stay away from the site too its full of ped0s. Look for toyhouse alternatives as I am it'll be much more worth your time

This website is great for finding unique artists and original characters. That's the main function of the website, and it's simply just that.

Forget this website honestly. While it might be the most "popular" OC website, it has absolutely zero moderation. The admin is incompetant and refuses to hire any help and on a website this large that is ridiculously stupid. The website has been in the same alpha development for years with no sign of ever actually going public neither, not that it even matters since getting a code is very easy.

The website is full of doxxing, harassmennt, stalking, callout posts and generally drama hungry children to the point the website has multiple "drama" blogs just dedicated to talking about the users who use it, often full of nefarious claims to the point many users will admit to feeling on eggshells while being on site. Users have no etiquette and will dogpile you openly if they disagree with you. If you like problematic material ie. Anime with 18+ themes, transgressive works of fiction, forget it - they'll harass you off site. Tickets raised do not get answered for months at a time - if you're okay with being scammed, having your characters disrespected or stolen or otherwise planning on locking yourself down on "quiet mode" and being a hermit go for it. Quite frankly out of all my years I've never been on a site as badly run or with as many reactionary cruel users.

Stick to other OC sites. Refsheet, charahub, ocbin, etc. The lack of moderation or concern from the admin at all and seemingly being complicit in allowing users to make insane bogus callout posts accusing people of horrific crimes ranging from pedophilia to abuse is absolutely monstrous. I actually think the admin is scared of the userbase and backlash that they have lost all sense of a backbone. It's the users that control the website and they do it by bullying and harassing others.

I've lost a lot of characters because I got banned…wrongfully. You also need a 'Code' to get in. And he'll these codes are VERYYY hard too get (and when I say very, I mean VERY). So yeah don't join…also has a bunch of bullies. One time I even made someone FREE ART of their Oc…and what do they do? BLOCK ME! The only good thing is the complements and free characters, but other than that…

I have been trying to revoke one of my designs from someone who attempted to exploit my art for s*xual purposes and has s*xually harassed multiple minors including myself. It's been ~2 weeks with ZERO response after showing evidence of her p*dophilia and her frequent tracing and character theft, and both of her accounts have been left untouched.

This is unacceptable, child predators should not be allowed to run rampantly and tickets should not just be ignored.

Toyhouse is rampant with user drama, mostly because a fair share of the users are teens, which can be extremely irritating at times, but so long as you try to keep out of it hopefully you wont find yourself wrapped up in any of it. The HTML and CSS aspects on the site (even if one is locked behind a $5/month paywall) are really nice touches to customize your character information pages and your own personal profile, and most people are really nice too, however, the moderation is a nightmare. Theres only one moderator on the site so I dont expect it to be super great, and its amazing how well theyre able to keep up the site on their own being responsible for everything to do with it. I do think the site needs more moderators, it likely will improve with such, but I can understand its likely very difficult to find more people to maintain the site and pay for them and the site upkeep as well. Speaking of premium, there is an optional $5 subscription to support the site. Personally I find premium worth it but its entirely dependent on you, and not using premium doesnt negatively effect your experience or block off anything major. Its just a way to support the site.

Keep in mind whenever you report the site only has one moderator. Their response time has gotten a bit better over the past year, but still likely wont be near as fast as any other site

I spent a few quiet months on Toyhou.se, and my experience degraded very quickly over this time. I would not suggest anyone ever sign up for this site if they can get a code, if you have any integrity whatsoever as a creator.

First of all, this site does not promote creative freedom. If the large, toxic community does not agree with something you write, you will be harassed incessantly.

I was personally told I was "suspicious" for venting often about a topic close to my heart and that affects me in real life: being short and often compared to a child for genetics that I CANNOT CHANGE (except, in some rare cases, with extremely expensive and invasive surgery that I have no interest in taking part in). I have been on the internet since the advent of AOL, I guarantee I am older than most of the people on Toyhou.se (especially given the childish way they react to anything they dislike), and I can and will live my life as an adult because I am, legally, an adult, and have been for a while. But because I am short (genetics), have small hands and feet (genetics), like to wear clothing that hides my body (personal choice to combat social anxiety as well as comforting because I'm autism spectrum) - anyone who interacts with me is somehow a pedophile, and I am a pedophile for defending people with similar genetics as well as characters that have these traits but are legally adults. This is offensive to a staggering degree.

Make a neocities or something and store your characters there. Do not give Toyhou.se the money they do not deserve - mods do nothing about this system where the forums are a toxic mess of people shrieking "CP" at things that are not and getting the entire site to defend their asinine views.

When I was in the toyhouse community, (I've gotten banned wrongfully like. 3 times?) my experience there wasn't that great.
CS' taking down innocent characters at the speed of light when said characters have one simple trait from their weird species, p3d0s, st4lk3rs, and gr00m3rs running freely, children getting banned by random people that they had a bad experience with, people not being taken seriously by the mods and never getting responses, yeah.

Their banning system is awful, too. They don't warn you or let you try to fix your mistakes (ESPECIALLY with the age falsification ban), and when you contact their email they simply ghost you.

That website is basically only good for scamming gr00mers, basically. Just creepy adults that the toyhouse mods somehow take seriously.

When I was banned, my friend was permanently banned as well. Why, you may ask?

Because two adults who loved to take advantage of minors banned us because we told them we didn't want to talk to them anymore.
We were INSTANTLY banned (since only the adults are taken seriously!) and weren't allowed back. My account is banned for 4 years while my friends is permanent.

I just do NOT recommend. ESPECIALLY for random kids that just want to store their ocs or writing, if you're planning on doing that, start running because GOOD GOLLY is that site awful.

And, mind you, in the screenshot it says I interacted with sexual content (which I did NOT, it just says that for every age falsification ban which is quite harmful since I did nothing of the sort lol. I didn't even know you could upload nsfw or have nsfw on the site, so I believed I was okay)

I got banned wrongfully because I accidentally put the wrong date of birth year when signing up, I'm a minor. Due to my age, I think they thought I was "fake my date of birth" so I can look at 18+ content there, I did but I always click away because I get very disgusted when I see any nude and or sexual images. (Also, I actually got IP banned too because I used my other accounts but I only did that so I can let my friends know my main account got banned).

I know I should have changed my that of birth in settings, but I have a huge problem with saying I going to do something but never doing it, it because I forget to do it, but anyway that's some context of why I didn't change it. When I got banned, I contact them via email, but they never responded I've been contacting them a lot and they have yet to respond. I don't know how many people are running ToyHouse but I'm going to say this, please don't waste your time contacting them, they probably won't even respond.

Also, the website is fine but there's some people that should not be on the platform like pedos, stalkers, kids under 13, etc. luckily, I never came across people like that, so my experience was good until I got wrongfully banned. (Also, sorry if my sentences are a mess. Anyway, this is my first review^^)

I'm an avid toyhouse user, even bought premium in fact to customise the pages. I also have a few gripes with the website.

Note this is coming from an individual who is Over 18, a part of the closed species sphere and nsfw artist.

Pros
- The site has good customisability even without premium to decorate your pages.
- the organisation tools are great
- the message boards are fairly helpful on some occassions
- like all sites there are some nice people.
- does what it sets out to do which is create a big character organiser
-trigger warning tab just in case

Cons
- rampant with under 18's lying about their age.
- complaint tickets often dont get responded to for a while.
- need an invitation to acsess the site
- the interface can be hard to learn at first especially when none of it is really explained.
-like all sites, often does come into contact with z**philes ans p*dophiles, only difference is not much is done about it on this site.

If you stick to just using toyhouse as a storage site for your chars you can avoid the crap pretty much and just stick to linking it you shouldn't really face any issues

Moderation is non-existent. I've had a ticket for a well known and documented pedophile submitted there for a year with no response.

Toyhou.se itself is a very useful website when it comes to fiction and storage of your creations. However, it's very difficult when you need to report problems to the helpdesk. The admin is very slow when it comes to dealing with reports that could of been sorted in an hour at the most. I am still having problems with someone stealing my characters and the person has only been warned once.
