The overall reputation of Talking Parents is mixed, with notable strengths and significant concerns. Positive feedback highlights the app's ability to facilitate communication between co-parents, aiding in documentation and reducing conflict. Many users appreciate its utility in legal situations, claiming it helps maintain accountability. However, negative sentiments are prevalent, particularly regarding service reliability, frequent technical issues, and perceived exploitation of sensitive family situations through increased fees. Customers also express frustration with customer service responsiveness and the app's limitations, suggesting that improvements are essential for enhancing user satisfaction and overall effectiveness.

This is joke perpetrated by idiot lawyers that haven't figured out what email is.
Yeah we so need the parents to only go through a website instead of just sending a text or email that goes straight to the other spouse's phone... Ya know because now the spouse can choose not to open the message because they have an email telling them there is something to ignore... Genius
Awesome online, 5++ have not used the app. 4 years using it, used it in court as well, without paying.
Pretty sure the lying reviews are competetors.
Thank you for your review, Matthew! We're thrilled that you enjoy our service so much. We hope to continue to serve your needs in the future.
It can be useful only when it's working, but can be documented, but through who's integrity. I've used it, never abused it, but can be taken advantage of. Only as long as your willing to be willing to quickly make arrangements to go back to court. This site does nothing unless you want it to. Again, as long as it's working. If your phone stops working, make a new gmail, if you don't know your gmail, make a new one. Problem after that, must make sure you get linked back up to talking parents, because an invite doesn't have to be accepted. If they don't except, you just tell customer support that the other parent won't except, then provide the old email for your account as well as the new email, both parties names including the child's, and the child birth date. Customer service will then swap emails for that account and you can continue on where you left off to avoid the delay when the party isn't being cooperative, and disregarding the websites providing ways of communication. Or that may be the full process, all I had to do was give them my full name and old email, and the next day it was done. First explanation of situation 24 hrs you get a response, ask your name 24 hrs, then ask your email, 24 response of swap.
This is just email like gmail etc. It groups conversations confusingly and its just another website with another password to remember. It doesnt help communication its not magic and its not really free. Custody issues need court orders nothing else has any teeth.
Hi, Kate. We're sorry if the layout of the conversations was not ideal for you. Communication is always free on our website and serves a purpose of keeping an authentic record of all communication between parents. We hope this helps.
I have been using this for almost a year now. It's honestly nothing special, just a messaging program with read receipts. Sadly, that's where the pros seem to end.
Cons:
* Full of ads, including redirecting ads and fullscreen ads that are disruptive.
* Email notifications don't work right, either tell you a message is there when there isn't or doesn't tell you when there is one.
* Sometimes marks messages you haven't read as read by you. This happens sometimes if you are reading a mesaage on a thread and another is sent, or when you are not even logged in.
* For text notifications, you will be charged $0.05 (as of this writing). For parents who have abusive and narcissistic coparents, this can and will be abused. Plus charging for a notification when they already don't work right is bad business practices.
* Forced paywall if you don't download attachments within the tiny timeframe.
* $4.99 a month of $49.99 a year to remove ads and use the app, which has poor ratings and hardly works. This seems like exploitation, especially when the court orders you to use this program.
* For $3.99 you can buy PDF court records, something that should be free, and can be done with a Print2PDF driver. They only allow you 24 hours to download it too. So if you misplace the file, get ready to fork over more money.
Overall, with this program being forced upon parents like myself, this seems like clear exploitation to me. Its clunky and slow and full of ads. If you are given an option to use Talking Parents, one word of advice: say no!

I'm really surprised by all of these bad reviews. I've been using TalkingParents.com for 20 months and it has been great. The notification that my EX has read the discussion is invaluable since she frequently does not respond or waits a long time to do so.
Completely free up until now. I've printed out individual discussions as needed to show my lawyer. Yeah, it will cost $4 to get a complete PDF if I ever need it. My lawyer will charge me way more than $4 to even look at it, so I see $4 as small change.
With respect to reliability, I use the web interface. I cannot comment on the web app. I don't really see the point of the web app. I get an email saying there is a message, I click on it and it takes me to the web page. That works perfectly for me.
Thank you for your great review, Ken! We're so glad that Talking Parents has been of such benefit to you. We appreciate you using our service and hope that we can continue to serve your co-parenting needs.
Only works about half the time. Tells you you have a message when you don't and doesn't tell you when you have a message when you actually do.

Joke site. Some legal "professionals" are essentially trying to make Internet coin by starting this joke of a site. They marketed the whole thing by sending flyers, promoting the site at legal conventions and people who are smart and educated bought their snake oil pitch. This site is biased against the male halves of a custody battle. I wish Trump would drain this sites swamp. I had everything taken from me and now gotta pay some battle axe for transcripts? This is run my people who never got asked to their high school prom. Beware, if your ex gets transcripts this site will audit them so that only the negative or derogatory things the male half said will be provided. A total biased pay site. And,... because they NEVER get back to you in a timely manner... and... BECAUSE YOU CAN NEVER GET AHOLD OF ANY VIA PHONE... you will suffer. You cannot even get a real person by phone or in person to validate the voracity of any email exchanges (which is required in my state). PLEASE... tell your attorney to tell your judge "NO"... don't use this POS site!

I really liked using this app. My ex is an extreme narcissist and everything that I always say gets misconstrued and turned around in telephone conversation. This puts the power back in my hands and lets me have more control over conversations and showing when he's not being honest or decisive. It was great because I could download copies and have it sent to the guardian ad litem and to the judge. The one thing I will say you never do win with a narcissist but it's a tool to add to an Arsenal to help combat them. The other thing I love is that it's taken away they need to have to communicate via the telephone. It's nice because it's free but for a small upgrade you can print copies as well. Highly recommend.
Thank you for your great feedback, Ronald. We're very glad to hear that Talking Parents has helped you put the power back in your hands. We hope to continue to serve you well at Talking Parents.
From their site, you can't records without paying for them, which I didn't see before:
"Parents can obtain a certified and complete record of communications in PDF format anytime for $3.99. They can also upgrade to a Premium account which includes unlimited access to PDF records and many other features for $4.99 per month. Parents can email electronic copies of their record directly from our site.
Parents can also order a printed, securely-bound, and personally-certified record from us for $19 plus 19 cents per page. That price includes shipping via priority mail."
Hi Laura, all of our downloaded and printed records are certified for accuracy, so that is why there is a nominal fee for these services. We will always allow communication for free, but in order to be able to offer the other features, there is an overhead cost to us. We hope that we are able to be of benefit to you.
My ex-wife constantly ignored court ordered cooperation with me on our children's issues, and manipulated my custody time simply by ignoring messages, etc. I insisted that the court order using Talking Parents, and after two years the judge finally agreed. It has been great. My Ex and I actually have important conversations about our children because we have to. The tracking of responses and views is important, because now she can no longer say that she "never received" my messages about our children (which was her code for "deleted without reading it"). She also knows that her behavior is officially being documented, so her communication is far more reasonable and civil. Use of T. P. has improved my family situation and helped to protect my time to maintain relationships with my children a great deal.
Thank you for your great review, Mike! We're glad that Talking Parents has been so helpful in getting you through your legal issues. This was our aim from the beginning and we're happy to have helped. We appreciate your feedback!
I've sent a couple of emails to the "contact us" address on the Talk Parents website. My message show up as "Right Aligned" instead of the standard "Left Aligned". As these notes will be submit to the court for review, I'd like the format to be corrected before the info in viewed. I sent couple of emails, I haven't received a response nor has the issues been addressed. Where can I find the customer service telephone number?

There many other no charge site, Yahoo etc. where you can keep your, the only plus side is you know when the other party has read your email (similar to outlook email receipts)
They do charge if you want copies of the conversations ie emails, $40
Hi Ralph. You are correct that there are free ways to communicate, but they are not as in depth and as accurate as what Talking Parents can provide. Talking Parents was created by a team with a law background, so they know exactly what information can be brought into court. There is a fee to receive records from us, as these records have been certified as accurate by our team and can be brought into a courtroom. Please let us know if there is anything else that we can do to serve you.
I guess this site is newer than I thought. Seems like people either haven't heard of it or they think it's only good for women with do-nothing ex's who don't care about their kids. I get along great with the mother of my child and we work together to provide a good life for our son, we use talkingparents because it's convenient and we've got like 16 years to go and we think it's a good idea to keep a complete record of our discussions about him. I just copy and paste the entire record every so often in case anything ever happens to the site, I guess thats the only real downside, though I don't know why it would ever disappear. I know some people who use it because they don't get along and it seems to work ok for that too
Hi, Jack. No need to copy and paste your records, we keep an archive for you! We're glad that you enjoy using our services and hope to continue to serve you in the future.
My ex and I never talked at all because we don't like to talk to each other but we ended up using this site so we could at least talk about our son which has worked out great since he knows he can't be a jerk and he can't just ignore me
Hi Laurie, we're glad that Talking Parents has helped to remedy your communication issues with your ex. We're glad that it has been of such benefit. We hope to continue to serve you at Talking Parents.
Answer: Hi, Michael. That decision would have to be made in court. We do not set any rules or regulations and act only as a way to record communication between parents.
Answer: Yes like any other text message it's still on your phone unless you erased it.
Answer: Yes, if an image is viewed an eye icon will appear and will say "viewed" and the time it was viewed.
Answer: Yes you can. You request a full report, or I believe you can request single conversations only. In Colorado these are self authenticating and can be used in court as exhibits.
Answer: If You typed out the messages originally on either your phone or your computer then unless you erased it you have the original copy You don't need a copy from nobody else You have it you typed it.

Hi, Tom. Our site is designed to be a certifiable copy of communication between co-parents. While we cannot force the other parent to open the message, you will have a record that a message was sent and ignored. We hope this helps.
