Total scammers
October 23, 2016

I got caught up at first but quickly realized it was a scam. I played around with the Filipino for awhile and then finally told him exactly what he was. The fool called me back with a number from Boca Raton Fl and threatened to kill me if I ever called them again! So of course I tried to call back and got a dial tone followed by a busy signal.

Scam
October 11, 2016

This business is a total scam. They use pop up ads to convince people their PC is infected and that they were notified as part of a partnership with Microsoft. Check with the FTC or Microsoft and you will see these tactics are a scam. I just shut down my computer, ran a scan and there are not issues other than the pop up these people use to try and get your money. Report them to the AG, FTC and BBB.

I called the number to find out the name of the scammer, *******305, and it was support buddy. The BBB report on them indicates one of their marketers was using the tactic to drive business. They said they stopped the practice, but clearly it still continues. This business needs to be shut down.

Any 5 star review of this ransomware is a pure 100% lie. They are the worst kind of dung on the net. My wife got caught in their garbage while I was gone, instead of waiting for me to get home. I immediately called the credit card company and told them it was a scam and not to pay them as they are crooks and thieves of the lowest class. I also turned off her laptop & will have a computer tech person come over to rid the junk they have inserted in the hard drive. DO NOT GET CAUGHT UP IN THIS BULL CRAP. AND FOR GOD'S SAKE DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO AND DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER. Turn it off & if it won't let you by windows, then hold the power button down for about 6-10 seconds & don't turn it back on til you have a local computer trained expert do it. You may have to pay someone to do it, but it will be a heck of a lot cheaper than paying these scums.
Also, if you have been sucked in, immediately notify your bank to put a hold on any activity within your account & if you can go to another computer and change all your passwords plus notify your credit card to again put a hold on any attempt to use it not authorized by you.

Finally here is the best one yet by these scum baggers. When they called back, I told them to cancel the order, so he turns me over to customer service where I was put on hold for about 20 min. Then the scumbagger says customer service is very busy & they will call me back within 4 hours. Its been nearly 4 hours now & guess what? Your right, the phone has not rung at all. And it won't, at least from these con artists.

My 79 year old mother was using her Mac computer when it froze and a warning appeared on the screen telling her not to shut off the computer lest her computer get damaged. Mysteriously, Support Buddy's phone number also appeared on this warning, telling her to call them so she could fix it. Being naive to this sort of scam, she called the number and Support Buddy charged her $350 to "fix" her computer.

So, HOW DID SUPPORT BUDDY'S NUMBER APPEAR ON THAT WARNING SCREEN, YOU ASK? Because Support Buddy froze her computer in the first place. That's the scam - they seek out naive, unsavvy, unwitting computer users - often the elderly, like my mom - remotely freeze their computer, and then charge them to unfreeze it (using techniques and software, btw, that are totally free).

This company preys on society's most vulnerable. They should be shut down for unethical business practices and be forced to return the money they swindled - and continue to swindle - from vulnerable consumers.

SCAM - BIG TIME
August 7, 2016

I, as many others was hit by these people. I have Kaspersky installed, which I thought would stop crap like this! The "support" tech is in India, with warehouse call center background noise so loud that it is hard to comprehend what he is saying. The part was clear, that you could go to Microsoft store and pay $500 to get it fixed or pay them $179 to fix it online. Once they take over your PC, they would have all the information they need to process FB, mail, and credit card charges to our account.

STAY AWAY from these bastards!

Liars and a rip-off
July 26, 2016

They lock you out of your computer and then place their number there so that you have to call them. I was told that I had 12,000 issues and needed to pay 179.99 to protect my computer and rid it of all the viruses. I KNEW this was crap and I told them this. I told them to UNLOCK my computer and they said that they would do it for 179.99. There has to be someway to stop these people.

July 22, 2016

Don't do it! I did and it took 2 days to get it all straightened out. They are very convincing and courteous, SAID they were tech support for microsoft. They use scare tactics like, you must act now, every minute, means more of your data is at risk.

Hi all Hard working folks,

I confirm Supportbuddy.net is a scam. I have read the posted reviews from the last so many months. I was almost going to be hit by there racket. It all starts with a 'locked up' screen with instruction to call a toll free number - that's where cyber crime begins. The recipient of the call on the other side identifies himself as 3rd party company partnered with Microsoft. For solving problem they will like to remote login into your computer -Suspicious Behavior - (SB) #0 by telling that they are using remote diagonostic tools - (SB) #1. When I asked where are they located they would not tell - SB #3. For me three strikes and you are out. In fact I did further investigation of their identity based on which more than convinced that this case needs to be reported for cyber crime. I'm trying to find out who can help. If some one has any lead and would like to share and I'll do the rest.
Thanks. I hope you find this narration credible and at least protect your resources - hardware devices as well as your data.

I too was scammed by SB the other day (7-18-16) and was charged $179 for one fix and then another $149 to have them install an anti-virus program. All of this was charged on my Visa. After reading about this being a scam via this website, I immediately called the credit card company via their toll-free number on the back of the card and had my card cancelled before any charges could be made. My new card will be ready tomorrow. Not only am I one of the lucky ones, but also much wiser!

PLEASE keep in mind, if you think you've been scammed, IMMEDIATELY cancel your credit card and apply for a new one. This is crucial. It's well worth the trouble.
