READ THE FINE PRINT! If you don't cancel during the trail you will be charged to cancel before the subscription ends. I realized that I didn't need to download 10 images/month and decided to cancel my subscription. I was being charged $29 a month for 3 months. In order to cancel I had to pay them $60. Needless to say I was livid and I would never use them again..
I made a subscription 3months ago using their free month trial. I gave them my card information. When I tried to stop the subscription plan turning the auto renew to off they continued to take money from my account. I tried to remove my billing information but I was send to talk with technical support. They didn't responded. All in all when they responded they wanted 60$ to stop the subscription! This is absolutely CRAZY. DO NOT trust the company!
There is no way to cancel your subscription on their website. I checked my billing record on my credit card and realised there is a transaction named "SALES: FREE TRIAL ENDED Dublin 2 IE". You can't trace back what the transaction is simply from the name.
Then I figure out it is the subscription of shutterstock from my memory. You can't remove your card information, unsubscribe the current plan or even delete your account as it said "a plan is running". If you try to get help, there is always error occurring in the page that telling you how to unsubscribe. If you email them choosing you want to cancel your subscription, "something must go wrong".
It feels like they are deceiving my money intentionally. Most horrible shopping experience ever.
Ps I cancelled my subscription eventually and it took extra charge for that.
Excellent photos, illustrations and they offer an amazing selection. Quality prints, good prices with multiple sizes and licenses available. I am in the U.S. and am truly "shocked" they have any bad reviews on this site. I personally have had nothing but a great experience and highly recommend this company! Their website is good too. I use them for personal as well as business use. The service is only $29.00 a month. I have tried other services including Adobe, Deposit and otherwise and always come back to an stick with Shutterstock! Again, highly recommend! :)
I subscribed to a free 10-download one-month trial and canceled my subscription and the automatic renewal a few days afterwards. One month later, my cancellation request was actually not taken into account yet and Shutterstock charged me €34.80 via PayPal for a one-month subscription that I never asked for.
I immediately sent an email to the support and open a dispute on PayPal. Ten minutes later, my Shutterstock account was "disabled for security reasons" and I am now unable to log in to contact the support once again or access my billing details!
This is absolutely insane and an utter and complete theft.
I had no idea I was signing up to a 6 month subscription. The whole process was misleading. No receipts or reminders. Plain and simple scam.
Shutterstock is such a scam. Don't even think about trying a trial offer…. Their system is designed to screw you over and steal your money.
BEWARE! They make money with their misleading free trial. I signed up for a free trial because I needed one image from their platform. Did not see ANY indication that there would be an auto-renew. My card was charged and at first my bank couldn't even find where it came from, they didn't even send an email notification to advise that they charged the card. When I finally figured it out, customer service told me I can't get a refund so I just accepted the loss. However, to cancel the plan, they wanted to charge me an additional fee. I've never heard that nonsense in my life. They claim it is in the fine print but they know damn well that this policy is not clearly stated and is just dumb. They're just trying to scheme money out of people. I thought this was a reputable website. I know they get complaints DAILY about that stupid cancellation charge. Yet they continue to try squeezing money out of people who probably can't afford it. STAY AWAY from this website unless you are willing to deal with that nonsense. There are better websites out there with more ethical policies.
I signed up for the "free" trial but was then automatically enrolled in an annual plan even thought I turned off the renewal thinking that this stopped the plan at the end of the trial. I did contact them to cancel via message on the website but there must have been an error in their website so the free trial was not cancelled so they took money. I contacted them again, this time via the messaging service, and they had prepared wording telling people that it's their fault as the trial being not-really-a-trial was somewhere in the wording. They clearly a deliberate attempt to mislead people as the free trial is not a trial and the trial becomes paid even if you attempt to turn off the payment AND contact them to stop it. DO NOT SIGN UP.
The worst compony. They will take your credit card info and start billing you. Never trust them!
Then they refuse to refund me
BE WARE DO USE SOMEONE ELSE BECAUSE THEY WILL NEVER HELP YOU. AUTOBILL SCAMMERS. 16 DIFFERENT REPS TO HELP WITH ONE ISSUE, 3 REFRENCE NUMBERS STILL NO HELP YET
I signed up for a 7 day free trial for Shutterstock without being fully aware that by not canceling I would be tied into a monthly fee for a YEAR long subscription. I was extremely disappointed and irritated to find out I would be charged an early termination fee and requesting the cancellation of my subscription due to the lack of content and quality images in my industry. I was told under no circumstance could I cancel without a fine, essentially and because I had utilized a handful of downloads. Not even a third of what I "paid" for I was not eligible for a discount. I feel I was misled and roped into a yearly commitment. Proceed with caution, ensure they have quality content for your needs, which they probably don't, and be aware of their polices regarding this matter.
I signed up for a one month free trial with intentions of maybe using one extra month for the end of my school year. Instead, they signed me up for a monthly fee of $30 plus tax and tried to say I am legally binded in a 1 year contract. Early termination of the contract would cost $80 USD, and as a student in Canada, I barely have enough money for groceries and my rent let alone a stupid photo subscription that I only needed for 1 month. I spoke with customer service in their live chat and he had to speak with 2 managers before saying he was able to cancel my subscription. Unless you have extra money to be paying $30 a month for the year, DON'T BOTHER.
I had mistakenly inputted wrong details at the moment of the purchase,
However, the customer support via email was reluctant to help by sending me justifications that they cannot cancel the invoice so I can enter my correct company details.
By the way, Shutterstock does not issue real invoices for companies residing outside US.
They just send you a receipt, and they tell you that this is acceptable (which is not) by you tax services.
These people are the worst. They charge you a stupid fee even you have one month of the plan with them. I'm glad I canceled at one month and not later. Expensive with everything.
Beware of fraud transaction made by this company. I subscribe for 3 months and they charged me for 9 months. There is no way that you could get your money back!
Like many here, I got scammed! They don't make it clear that they lock you into an annual contract after purchasing images! They also charge you $120 to end the contract early! I'm going through a rough time in life and that $29.99 per month is important. I'm so sick to my stomach and will have to deal with these jerks stealing from me every month! I want to cry! So pissed! Be careful of any company you sign up for online. All this subscription stuff is fraud!
I wish I could give them 0 stars. Disgusting sales tactics. The way they price gouge their customers should be illegal. Will never again return to them and hope this review gives other potential customers second thoughts on signing up or taking a free-trial.
They auto renewed to annual subscription. Charged me for two months and when I asked for cancellation they start asking for more money to cancel.
Can't believe I EVER gave these guys money... They will literally take money out of your credit card and make up reasons that are completely FAKE. Please do NOT give these people your credit card or bank info! COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY DISHONEST... never seen such liars.
Answer: It's the delta between normal monthly rate & discounted rate (based on year subscription) x the number of months into the subscription. Example: $50/month standard rate $30/month yearly subscription 9 months of usage $50 - $30 = $20 x 9 months = $180 for early termination.
Answer: Yes once downloaded the images are yours to use forever and they have many plan options, some of wish are one time payments
Answer: On tge website there is not a option to purchase a single image however, if you have an ios or android device you cam download the shutterstock app and purchase the single image of your choice
