The company has garnered significant negative feedback, primarily centered around customer service failures and issues with account management. Many customers report lost funds and unresponsive support, leading to sentiments of being scammed. Additionally, the limited and outdated restaurant options have contributed to dissatisfaction, as customers frequently encounter closed establishments. While a few positive experiences are implied regarding the product concept, the overwhelming sentiment reflects frustration and distrust. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance communication, streamline account management, and ensure accurate listings of participating restaurants.

The website sstated that both places (PLNT Burger and Senbeb) were eligible to redeem the gift certificate. Both places visited (because of the coupon) stated that they did not accept gift certificates. They do however accept the $5 off coupon if you purchase it. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING TO FIND A PLACE THAT DOES; I WILL NO LONGER PURCHASE FROM RESTURANT.COM AS A RESULT.
Tried it for the first (and last time). The restaurant does not accept their app certificate (Indian Spice House in Buffalo). Restaurants.com is a ripoff in that they don't check to see if they are working with dishonest restaurants like this one that say they accept certificates but don't
From what I hear, after having this card rejected, is that this business does not pay restaurants, they do not reimburse for unusable cards. BIG, BIG RIPOFF... time for a report to BBB and Chamber of Commerce. This rip must be stopped!
Some of the restaurants will not accept the certificates. I called 5 or 6 restaurants in my area and they said they don't accept the certificates. Customer service gave me a hard time to get a refund for the four certificates that I purchased.
I purchased a coupon for restaurant.com. And like so many others, I can't redeem my coupon. It has been challenging navigating this site. I followed the steps as suggested but the site does not locate my certificate or keeps logging me out. Whe I am finally able to get somewhere, the message I get is there are no certificates found. This website has a lot of glitches and not very user friendly. Also there is no phone nunber where you can call to have sonemone assit you with the problem. I would like to redeem my coupon; I paid good money for it. Shame on you for not offering assistance.
While we had one reputable business that accepted these, many others were not on board and were not happy to accept a rest.com certificate. I just checked to see if there were any new places, and the website shows zero places in MS, AL, TX, FL, CA, NY. I don't know if the website is messed up or if they are out of business, but I have a bunch of unused certificates and no where to use them.
This is not a deal of any sort. There are way too many limitations on these. I got a $50 gift card which I paid $50 for so my sister n law and her hubbs could go wherever they wanted- haha jokes on me. You can only use it in $10, $5, $25 etc increments in which case you have to spend a minimum at the restaurant out of pocket plus it DOES NOT INCLUDE ALCOHOL, TAXES, TIP, and most of the restaurants will only let you use you voucher Mon- Thurs or at lunch time. Also, there's no contact number to talk to customer service. It's a crock of $#*!. Don't waste your time. If spent hours and hours trying to make something of the $50 I spent.
Purchased a cyber Monday promo and then found that restaurant had a minimum order of $50.00. Cancelled this certificate and wanted to exchange it for another Certificate, but site said to call customer service. After much looking on site, I found the customer service phone number *******844), but company was then closed. Phone next day to their automated site which said to "hold for a representative"... but no answer... even after 15 minutes... company played loud music while I was holding and then music went off and I was disconnected. I should have reviewed their site on sitejabber before purchase. Stay away. 12/03/19.
I have been using Restaurant.com for the past 10 years. After reading the reviews I believe the issues with the low ratings are related to the perception of what your buying.
This is not a gift certificate but a coupon for a discount on your meal. Before going to the restaurant you need to call ahead and make sure they are still taking the certificates. I do this every time and about 25% of the time they are no longer taking the coupons. I simply go back to the website, restaurant.com, and exchange the certificate for either another restaurant or a credit to be used at a later date.
If your expectation is you purchased a gift certificate similar to paying with cash then I can see your frustration but what did you expect for a $25 off coupon that you paid $1-$5 for depending on the coupon code you used to purchase it. If you paid more than a few dollars you overpaid.
The reason the restaurants are leaving the program is this is a fantastic deal for the consumer but not so much for the restaurant. They do not receive any of the money you spent on the certificate. They simply participate in the program for advertising and get new customers. The restaurants are losing money on these transactions so I always tip well to make sure the server is well taken care of.
The availability of restaurants can be very limited depending on your location. If you are in a competitive area you can always find a few good restaurants that quite good bargains. The trick is to purchase the certificates with a good discount. Today on Cyber Monday they are giving a 90 percent discount so a $25 certificate only costs $1. If I do not use this certificate I can always exchange it at a later date.
The deals are getting skinnier lately. It used to be you would only need to spend $35 for a $25 discount or $75 for a $50 discount. Today the best deal is spending $50 for a $25 discount. This is still a very good deal and makes it possible to dine out on a budget or better yet if you are a road warrior on a limited corporate per-diem you can eat well and stay within your budget.
The bottom line is this is a very good program for the consumer as long as you check with the restaurant first before you go and only buy certificates when they have good discounts with the coupon codes, i. E. never pay more than $4 for a $25 off certificate and when they have deals like today, $1 for $25 certificate you should load up for the year.
I paid $139 a seat to see Hamilton in Philadelphia. I had to email and call 2 days before because I didn't get tickets. When they finally emailed me my tickets, the value of the tickets were $99. So I was overcharged $40 per ticket. Not only that the seats were obstructed views, Row M for rows from the very top of the theater. This was such a scam.
So if my headline didn't give it away, this company is trash. They harass you every single day multiple times daily. I've asked for 6 weeks everyday to be taken off the list. Today, I called them and asked to speak to a supervisor. The supposed supervisor came on and asked why I'm so bothered by a phone call. When I asked to be taken off the list he laughed and hung up on me. I called back again, I was hung up on. I called again and spoke to someone who seemed nice and I basically begged to be taken off of the list. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
If I could give zero stars I would. I've threatened legal action. I've threatened their lives and their families lives at this point. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE EITHER AS A CUSTOMER OR A CLIENT.
Save your money and do not do business with this ripoff scam. I have tried 8 different places and either out of business or do not know how they got affiliated with this scam company but an absolute joke. When called they wanted my bank info to see my payment to them. I am in no way sending my bank info to a scam company as such.
My name is Dhiren Bhargav and i live in Mumbai Vasai. I work with Restaurant.com since over 4 years and a BDM Business Development Manager with them. I would like to make a confession that this business is not legit. It is a scam and even me the business Development manager feels that way. I can only pity those restaurants who have been tricked to join this Piece of $#*!
Jump through these hoops, hold your tongue to the right, rub your belly and pat your head ALL while you put your sensitive information out there for everyone to see. WAY TO COMPLICATED AND IT MAKE FOR A BAD EXPERIENCE AT ONE OF MY FAVORITE EATING SPOTS. Don't waste your time and just cut a coupon off a piece of paper.
I too have been scammed. However, I was able to get a number to call these people at restaurant.com. I received my bankstatement and I saw that there was 11 charges for $20 even each time per charge. I had never even heard of restaurant.com let alone use its services. So here is the phone number,
*******985. Hope that helps every one out. Good Luck!
I'm so completely disgusted with the restaurant.com SCAM. I have $5 balance on a few certificates but your APP does not allow you to combine certificate numbers to redeem them. The restaurant choices are TERRIBLE and no where near the quality of those you use in your FALSE MARKETING SCAM. WHAT A DISGRACE!
Reading the reviews, it appears NO ONE is satisfied with your company but I figured I would ask if someone can explain why you have set up a system to SCAM people and whether you are taking any steps to correct it. Generally, GOOD COMPANIES respond to customers who have a valid complaint and take steps to correct it and improve, but perhaps you are happier continuing on with your SCAM to defraid your customers.
I have a total of $125 worth of certificates and my first experience attempting to use a certificate was a NIGHTMARE. The restaurant even complained about how AWFUL is has been working with you.
Wishing I could get a refund, as using your certificates is more headache than it's worth.
Sincerely,
A very dissatisfied customer
This is a big waste of money!
They told me and sales me so much and told me I can cancel anytime. I tried I really tried but nothing works because they only have small unknown restaurants and the food are not good and the prices are high too. I can go to golden corral and get so much more food for the same prices.
When I try to cancel they keep dragging and told they will reply and/or call me back in couple of days but no reply or call back; so I called and they recognize my number so they won't answer until I used different number then they answered and told me they can't and won't refund my unused credit!
We were totally not aware that you can only use one Certificate per visit.
Nothing wrong with having that rule but it should be "crystal" clear when you purchase multiple certificates for the same restaurant.
Answer: Same thing happened to me. There is no live person to talk to. They will give you a credit to use on another voucher but you will probably run into the same problem.
Answer: Burn it! Restaurant.com is not going to work with you at all. They are scam artists
Answer: Most likely because of people like me. I had never heard of this company, but, was offered their cards as part of a promotion. After being burned, I took the time to post my opinion. Others may not take the time to caution others...
Answer: Yes you need to pay almost 5 times as much as you pay. Dont do that
Answer: Terms of use make it nearly impossible to redeem gift cards.
Answer: No restaurants directly accept the gift card at the restaurant.
Answer: Don't even bother
Answer: You probably can't since it is virtually impossible to reach the company. I wish I had a better answer for you.
Answer: Your question is not very clear but if your certificate is "unused" I assume that means it hasn't been used yet and it is available for you to use. Be sure to check for other possible restrictions and minimum purchases.
Answer: And when you call restaurant.com Theresa K or some other staff member will politely tell you, in essence, you don't have any $135 value. They will find a reason but they will suggest you spend more only to loss that too. Be cautious.
