Reputation Guards

I paid $4,500 to Reputation Guards in late 2023 for a one-year contract to suppress a negative website from search results. By the end of the contract period, the suppression appeared successful — so I was cautiously satisfied. However, within 1–3 months post-contract, the negative site began resurfacing. Shortly after, I was contacted by their financial department and informed that maintaining the results would require an additional $1,000–$1,500. This was never disclosed upfront. Had I known there would be an ongoing financial obligation beyond the initial $4,500, I would not have engaged their services to begin with.

I declined the upsell, and predictably, the negative website had fully reappeared within 4–5 months. The timing of the resurfacing relative to the contract's end and the subsequent upsell call struck me as more than coincidental.

My account manager, Josh, has been consistently difficult to reach via email unless I copied the general Reputation Guards inbox — at which point responses came promptly. This pattern repeated itself multiple times. When I eventually posted a 1-star Google review reflecting my honest experience, the company contacted me quickly and offered to resume work on my account at no charge in exchange for removing the review. I complied in good faith. Months passed with no meaningful progress.

When I formally requested to discuss termination of services and a refund under their advertised money-back guarantee, Josh again required multiple follow-ups before responding. When we did speak, he appeared unprepared, had no clear agenda, and ultimately told me he had no authority over financial matters — despite being my sole point of contact for over a year. He then suggested the money-back guarantee only applies within the contract period, which is a position that defies logic when the entire premise of the service is long-term, lasting results.

Before engaging this company, prospective customers should also be aware of the following: Reputation Guards is not BBB accredited and holds a B- rating — partly due to failure to respond to complaints — which is remarkable for a company selling reputation management services. Their legal business name is actually "Global Digital Marketing Group LLC," incorporated as recently as December 2021, meaning this is a very young company presenting itself as an established authority. Other reviewers on Trustpilot and elsewhere have reported nearly identical experiences to mine: results that evaporate post-contract, followed by upsell calls framing ongoing fees as the only way to maintain results — a tactic consistent with documented reputation management scam patterns.

I am currently pursuing a resolution and will update this review accordingly. However, based on my experience and research, I have serious concerns about this company's transparency, accountability, and the integrity of their guarantee. Proceed with significant caution before investing nearly $5,000 — or any amount — with Reputation Guards.
