I booked a rental car via Rentalcars.com (Booking.com) for pickup on July 22,2025, from Guerin (Setúbal). Upon arrival, despite presenting all required documentation and offering to pay the €600 deposit in cash, I was denied access to the vehicle solely because I did not have a physical credit card. I attempted multiple solutions, including a virtual credit card and cash deposit, all of which were rejected. The service had already been paid for in full, yet I was denied its use — a clear case of a paid-but-not-delivered service. The requirement for a physical credit card was not clearly shown during the booking and only mentioned in fine print on the voucher, which I consider misleading. I was pressured by customer service to accept a partial refund under threat of losing the entire amount. I am demanding fair resolution and restitution in accordance with Portuguese consumer protection law.
