Best place ever to connect with other Knitters and crocheters. Not to mention the massive library of patterns with the best filtering engine there is. Best of all no hate or racism allowed.
This site is free and has a wealth of topics and forums about any craft you can imagine. I had an old loom from the 50s my mother gifted me. When it needed to be fixed I found a group for that. So many free patterns and friendly supportive people. The recent controversy has made me like the site even more. One member crowd sourced hate against another member and they took a stand. I love that they stood up to hate!
I enjoy looking for and saving crochet patterns. This site makes it super easy to do both and more. I sometimes just scroll to find ideas for new projects..
If they started out this way I would have never joined. But they sucked me in, took my money, then turned into a biased bigoted whining fest for wokeness but no fairness for any difference of opinion. Why not just ban all politics? Because it's just too much fun for them to bash Christians, Jews, conservatives or anyone they disagree with.
These forums are chock full of hate hate hate, nastiness and vulgar comments, but all that is A-ok if you agree with their bigoted ideas.
Wow. I ignored the p*ssy hats and a lot of the profane, rude knit and crochet ware out there. It's interesting that the same people that knitted up and wore those same hats don't know how to do the same. Disappointed that a useful website is now a "safe space" for crybabies who don't know how to just scroll past something they don't agree with. Will be deleting my account and taking my money elsewhere.
Nothing more Ignorant than to say your protecting everyone by alienating others and not even based in truth.
I look for knitting patterns and information about yarn and yarn stores. I didn't know there were forums and until now, I wondered why it was called a social media website. The negativity has been out there in fiberland with many people looking for slights, passive-aggressively misrepresenting themselves and deliberately misunderstanding each other because they can do it anonymously. I hope the naysayers enjoy their many different, new websites. I will continue to look for knitting patterns and information about yarn and stores, both online and local, on Ravelry, because that's all I want from a needlework website. I get political support from political websites.
So, I have been told in no uncertain terms that on Ravelry.com a knit hat pattern that says "Trump 2020" and a knit scarf that says "Make America Great Again" are banned, but a scarf that LITERALLY says "F#$% Trump" is ok and "protected by free speech". I don't know how you sleep at night, Ravelry.
How wonderful to see a company stand up for the values they believe in. Ravelry is a wonderful, supportive community and provides excellent resources for any project you could think of.
It's the best site I've found to keep track of my knitting projects and yarn stash. I've participated in some group projects there, too, which was fun. If you have questions about a pattern or yarn, there will be someone on the site who will help.
I can't help but love a site that takes politics out of the yarn arts and makes a site that thinks of *all* of its members. Allowing posts/patterns that celebrate a racist/homophobe does not do this and I thank Ravelry for recognizing this and taking action.
That said, I never fail to find a pattern that works for me and fits my skill level. It's easy to search and find what I need.
If you are looking to share or get knitting patterns there isn't anything better than Ravelry.
You can find just about anything!
A great resource for anyone interested in the fibre arts. And a great way to find out that Aunt Becky is racist trash. A+
I love this site and the stands they take. Thank you Ravelry and your staff for making the world a little bit of a better place.
Good on ya to stand up for what you velieve in. I hope more companies follow your lead. Racists have no place in this world, not even here.
Amazing resource and community for fiber artists. Created and run by dedicated people with big hearts and a firm moral compass.
Excellent resource for all things crafty, so many good patterns and information! I especially like the site layout and ease of use. Since there are so many patterns, it makes finding what you need a breeze.
Came here to say I support Ravelry. I think standing up for what they believe in is what America is about.
Ravelry is doing exactly the right thing. I stand behind them 100 percent. The variety of patterns is wonderful and it is awesome knowing that they are being hosted by a site that takes a stand.
The recent comments by Ravelry and policy changes are a welcome message to the crafting community. Crafting should always be a bastion from hate and a beacon of goodness.
