After reading numerous negative reviews up on this website I find it hard to feel sorry for anybody that has lost money to quibids.

1) How could you spend so much money without fully understanding how the website works and what you are getting yourself into.

2) Obviously, for example, a television doesnt sell for $30.00. By doing simple math you can calculate how large of a profit is made off selling an item at that cheap price. ($30.00= 3000 bets x 0.60 = $1,800-($30.00+personal bid total)= obvious profit). So to call this a scam is just dumb.

3) You will also notice that, for example, on those televisions they still come with the warranty given to you as though you boutht it through a local retail store.

4) Yes it is basically gameling so you have nobody to blame but yourself. You can basically consider it a form of a silent auction except you pay for each bid.

5) Finally I don't think anyone should disagree with me when I say I would have loved to have thought of this idea for a website first after seeing just how much profit can be made.

QuiBids is such a fraud! They only let you raise bid by 1 cent and every bid adds 15 seconds to auction time. Which gives others plenty of time to place more bids. There is an illusion that it is just going to end in few seconds but it actually never stops. Yes, the final price may be 250 USD for IPAD, but this means all who were competing to buy it have spent 250*100 = 2 500 bids (each bid costs, depending on the package, on average $1)! This is what cumulatively all those who were trying to win are paying, 2500 USD! Highly misleading FRAUD. You can spend 180 USD to get 300 bids and waste them all on one item without getting anything.

After hearing every side I will speak only from experience. I read the first review and almost got scared away. However when I saw the news broadcast I took a very big risk. I got the 75 bid package (I believe its $45). I started on Friday night (8/13/10) and since then I have won 6 bids (25 Bid Voucher, Alice in Wonderland Blue Ray DVD, The Blindside Blue Ray DVD, My Choice Blue Ray DVD, Twilight New Moon DVD, George Foreman Grill and a Dartboard). I did this to practice on smaller items before going for bigger things. Never did I thing I would be this successful in only 2 days. Besides my initial investment, (and shipping cost) I ended winning these items and still have about 25 bids left over. So I have gotten about $180 worth of items (things I was planning to purchase in the near future) for less than $2.00. This is a true story and I do not work for this company. I am in sales but in the hunting/shooting industry. Looking forward to next month since you can only win 8 times a month. Great investment. Just be smart on the way you bid, do your homework, it does payoff.

I don't think the site is a scam for 45 bids which came to $30 I won 2 $25 gift cards one for Amazon the other one was JCPenny & 2 bid packages one for 25 bids & one for 50 bids. I won all of these 4 items separately for a combined price of $1.76. I read every aspect of the website before I joined. I also reread it about 3 times before I bid. Of course everyone wants the pricey items, but that may not happen on your first go around. What worked for me was winning bid packs & waiting until the bid was under 10 seconds to bid.

Wish I would have read these reviews before I got suckered into quibids. After spending over 100.00 with nothing to show for it and wasting 6 hours of my time I deactivated my account. Really people be aware, if you want to blow $$ and stare at a clock continually count down, get a life; I've moved on

Anyone who blew money on this site is an idiot. It clearly states not to buy anything unless you are willing to pay full price from the beginning. This isnt a scam, just a clever moneymaking website, i wish i would have thought of this first. You really can get great deals, but you have to watch them carefully and not start bidding until the bidding action decreases, or you will just waste a lot of money. You have to bid with a mathematical approach. This is a deal for the winner, it just so happens that all the stupid bidders lose(those who bid unknowingly), and the owner of the site turns almost a 400% profit on every item. Its really quite clever. I would advise that you do some research and watch trends before you try this site.

I bought the smallest package of this stuff, placed one bid and at this moment they still owe me $54.60 from withdrawing $27.00 three times from my account.
My account bounced and I will probably face overdraft fees from WELLS FARGO too!

I will never do business on the internet like this again.

Maybe this is Madoff from jail...

I cannot thank those of you who pointed out that you can only go up in 1 to 5 c increments. What a scam! I was about to join the site and thought it was too good to be true and looked it up and ended up here. Thanks a lot guys. For the person who had positive things to say about this site in upper case letters and claimed not to be an employee or associated with the site. Are you kidding? Great scam though... the thought does cross my mind... why didn't I think of it?... just kidding...

Ok, so yeah this site is a little misleading... Basically it cost roughly 60 cents per bid to bid on an item. You can get ahead with this but not by doggedly following after one item... ESPECIALLY high ticket items, and you will lose your shirt if you get into a bidding war! It is all about timing and discretion. I bought the 45 bids for $25 and immediatly spent a couple to win 25 more bids. Then i picked a couple of low ticket items that werent anything spectacular... like rubbermaid containers and an 8gb flash drive. I figured out the cost of each retail (not what the site says they are worth) then decided on a number of bids to spend and went to work. I won both items for a few pennies and after shipping and handling and adding on the amount i spent on the bids i saved maybe a couple of dollars but nothing significant. In the end for me it all balanced out and i spent about the same i would have if i had just gone out and bought the items.

This site has a HUGE allure to it with their adverts showing the huge savings, but in the end the only one really getting anything out of it is Quibids. Stay away from them unless you just want to try it for the experience. If you really want to bid on something, go to Ebay, but stay away from Quibids.

I think some of us should be reminded of the "FAIR's" we went to as children or Adults... recall those penny stalls with the Darts you have to land on a Card or the floating Ducks you have to throw a ring around the neck or the Rifle to hit the target?... Well, we know the darts are dull... the ducks weighted and other tricks however, we still spend to get that cheap soft toy or the grand prize a Huge stuffed animal... I recall spending 30.00 determined to get that big beauty (worth approx 15.00 retail not wholesale)... for my little boy and coming away with a consolation prize instead... lol... sometimes the guy at the stall will sell you the darn thing (for more than it is worth of course) just have to ask him and after you spent 50$ trying to win it...
QuiBids to me works on the same concept..."the thrill of the bid". The idea/thrill you might win that big fluffy animal (TV or whatever)... while spending more & more & more... This site should NOT be called an AUCTION site or PENNY AUCTIONS for it is NOT and AUCTION site at all that aone is a misconception... It is a "TRY YOUR LUCK" site and as far as I can tell those names coming up clickiing way to often for cheaper items are no more than weighted Ducks (BOTS)...

This concept is not new if you have ever gone to the "Fairs or Carnivals"
I have been a Seller mainly on ebay for 13 years and a buyer occasionally and as much as I hate them for the high fees and endless rules from the buyers point of view it is FAIR and you do get what you have paid for and never walk away with NOTHING for your money and should you, you then have eBay itself on your side protecting your investment all the way... Honest & Fair to the buyer and you get what you spend your money for, not walk away, having made a bunch of freeloaders rich...

Not necessarily a scam... If you want to buy something then bid away and if you're not outbidding the people to "buy it now" which deducts your total bids ($. 60/ea) from the total retail. If you blindly bid with no intent to walk away with the product then keep your money away from the website.

I saw a $1,600 camera sold for $546.54.
- That means there were 54,654 bids.
- At $. 60/bid:
-- 54,654 X. 60 = $32,792.40 profit for the company in bids alone.
-- Add in the $2.00 service fee as well as the winning bid (don't forget to include shipping) and subtract the $1,600 cost; that's a potential total profit of $31,740.94 for QuiBids.

Sounds kind of like a scam that people blindly buy into. Also sounds contrary to the statement given in an interview by the Quibids founder that this was a good website for people struck by a tough economy... Kudos to a very profitable business model! Wish I would have thought of it first.:-)

This site is a scam
August 10, 2010

This site is a scam. You end op spending more for an item than if you just purchased it outright. Then good luck getting your overpriced merchnadise from them. I spent $42 to get $35 in gift cards and one of the cards never came. I tried to contact cust. Svc but live chat agents all busy--try back later. What? All busy? What about putting me in line for the next available rep? They probabaly hope you just give up. I'll just call AMEX and dispute the charges if they don't fix things. Bet that will light a fire. These people suck. STAY AWAY!

LMAO!
August 9, 2010

LMAO! Its so funny because this site is simply an internet casino. One hell of a hustle. Just like you would do at a slot machine in a casino, you put $20 in a quarter machine and get 80 credits to play. While on this site you pay $45 to get what 75 bids to play.

I've just about used up all my bids and tonight had the bidding clock freeze up right when I would have won the bid and then got a sweet email saying you didn't win this bid but you can buy it for the difference between the price and what you have spent on bids. They cost 60 cents a shot to bid above the price if you make it to the winning point. I'm done.

This iste is nothing more than a rip-off. The auctions go on until you pay full price for the merchandise, and then they act like you got them for $19. You could never possibly get the items for a few dollars the way it operates with never-ending bidding you have to purchase. Once you are into them for so much money, you are left with no choice to pay either more than the est ret price; which is inflated, or simply just purchase the item to recoop some of your investment. THIS SITE IS A HUGE SCAM!

Very interesting, but VERY DIFFERENT. Learn the ropes and you'll do well. Try to act like you're on eBay and you'll get hammered. The "price paid" for the item is nearly irrelevant... since you pay to bid, most of your cost will be in the bidding. Virtually all of the negative reviews I've seen about Quibids don't seem to grok that concept (although to be fair, some of Quibids ads could be clearer on the subject).

Develop strategies to reduce the number of bids you post to an absolute minimum - either by jumping in late, waiting until only a second or two is left on each round to see if others will jump in first, or finding times when fewer people are bidding (middle of the night, during the workday, etc). I've actually seen bids posted before the auction starts - you're wasting money, people!

Cool concept... I like it, and I'll be interested to see how it evolves. (They're pretty new, and still send personal responses to feedback.)
