I find this good networking site with the forums, competitions etc.
I've not had any issues with models and simply select based on references.
As I'm just starting out I've not had any issues people on the site readily give advice if requested, If you don't like NSFW just leave filters on. I've never turned them off as I just want to normal type shoots.
From what I see if people get banned generally they've posted or done something wrong such as pushed levels.
Regards
Steve
I opened an account hoping to show off my photography and recruit models. I uploaded small images to get a feel for this site. Within days they closed my account with a message stating that my images do not meet the minimum guidelines of dimensions. What a sham. I am an amateur photographer with some schooling and can safely say this place is to be avoided.
Had high hopes for joing this site, its not something Ive done very much of but am keen to do, amateur photography with models etc.
I 'applied'which consisted of sending 4 photos and ticking a few boxes.
Application rejected within 24 hours.
Innocuous photos of things round the house.
Hmm
Applied again as allowed, this time accompanied by 4 very high quality glam photos
That ticked a few NSFW boxes and were declared to be such, thinking this was maybe more their bag. I KNOW these shoots were good they cost around 4oo pounds time and are totally unique using professional paid models.
Rejected again.
No explanation.
Theres no pleasing.
Only other time Ive dipped a toe in this scene was some Models Organisation Union
Run by a woman, and boy rolls eyes they were difficult to work with too.
I left this site, agast, as the site moderators allowed for members to display their hatred towards a certain religious group. This clearly demonstrated a double standard view and totally contradictory to accepted values we all should hold, tolerance to all.
I could state more on other negative aspects of the site, however, this has already been mentioned by other reviews.
I joined a while ago and I must say that the website itself is very well designed and user friendly.
However, my problem is with the community there. It is quite toxic and the forums are full of angry people fighting each other or fake people who are just pretending that everything is amazing.
Also, a thing that contributes to the anger is the Front Page Image system. At first, I thought that it was a good way to promote the website and get the best images on the front page. But I just see the same profiles getting on the front page over and over again while there are other photographers who have also amazing pictures (I mean pictures that could be a perfume commercial or a magazine cover) and they never get that recognition. Which makes them feel frustrated and get angry on the forums. It seems to me that it is a small group of people just nominating each other and voting each other to get into the front page and MAYBE occasionally someone else gets on the front page, but it is quite unusual.
Also, it is true that there are a few of amazing professionals on the website but there are also too many GWC that are into photography for the wrong reasons and just want to see naked women. The review system works ok but I would recommend models to DM other models to ask for private references about photographers.
It is a good website if you just want to meet the professionals that are in your area and choose who you want to work with. But I would not recommend engaging too much in the forums or worrying about not getting on the front page.
Purpleport is a website for amateurs
Everyone can join the website and starts to declare to be a professional model or photographer
Escort models ask 30 /50 pound per hour to show tits and bums
In spitfire studio of swindon an unknown model asked 150 pound per hour to shoot nude in april 2019
Payment outside the website. Cash in hands
Another example
There is a kniwn british model who comes every month from sweden. Two weeks of photoshoots with pensioners of the countryside. At the end she goes back to sweden with the wallet full of pound without declaring taxes
She is british and must pay her taxes
Everyone on that website behaves like that.
Purpleport must be shout down by the authority
Banned from the site after paying to use it for 6 years. Why? I've no idea. Their claim is "too many reports", but as far as I'm aware, I never had a complaint made against me and all my feedback was 100% positive. At one point the site operated on a warning / suspension / ban system, but for whatever reason in this case they've decided to ban outright.
I asked what it was I've been accused of, and whether they had an issue with my communications, my content, or something about my conduct in person. (I've always tried to be professional as I know what kind of reputation the glamour industry has) obviously I'd want to refute anything that's untrue or submit evidence if needed, but they refuse to communicate, and all I get back is single line none-responses.
If I sound disgruntled, I am! I couldn't be any less gruntled if I tried!
They've sent an automated message to everyone I've corresponded or worked with informing them that I've been removed from the site and my former portfolio page now "strongly suggests" not to work with me!
As they seem perfectly happy to attempt to mischaracterize me as something I'm not, with no investigation, no facts, no evidence, and no apparent reason, I'm perfectly happy to portray them as something they are:
A decent selection of some really great models, a few hugely talented photographers, and a whole bunch of creepy unprofessional idiots, not least the muppets that run the place.
Good luck if you use it. It's one of the largest modeling / portfolio sites out there, but their unprofessionalism has me looking forward to their inevitable successor.
With reference to the other review many decent photographers no longer want to be associated with the site and have left leaving an even higher proportion of skill-less pervs.
If you join as a model you will be hassled by them. If you join as a photographer you will be assumed to be one of them. You can't win either way and I doubt I will be there much longer. Activity on the site seems to be fading probably as a consequence of the above although it remains the largest site of its kind serving the UK.
There are models trying to make money and a handful of decent photographers, but, the large majority of members are skill-less pervs paying (or trying not to pay) women to get their kit off in the name of art.
I used PurplePort as a means to gain some portfolio images, but, it's image has been tarnished by certain individuals, and the fact that, after my request, that an offensive article won't be removed, because it wasn't deemed offensive. Maybe not by those not of that minority group, but certainly the abusive language following up as multiple members found a means to vent their anger at this particular minority group.
The article, was mean't as an April Fools joke, but if very, very bad taste, mocking a particular religion. Further posts by the original auther, and others who commented, grew more and more foul in their language used.
Despite my efforts by writing a comment to end the article, it was met by hostility. Told by the author not to question their freedom of speech and that I've no right to comment.
Here's my comment;
"Can we please have respect and end this article.
April the 1st was two days ago now"
Of course, I reported this to the website admin, but they couldn't find fault with the article, despite me stating how prejudice the article was and how such an inclusive industry as performing arts can allow this.
I since wrote an article myself, not against the offending article, nor it's author directly, but demonstrating how we, in the 21st centry, have been working hard at tolerance to others, no matter their gender, ethnicity, language, disability and religion/belief.
This article was locked, because "it was a statement".
So you see, there still are intolerances, but anyone who questions it will be given a hard time and the offender is let off. And this is a repeated story.
How can society change for the better?
PurplePort is a much better site than Model Mayhem.
It is well designed and operated professionally.
Its only flaw is that its US membership is small, albeit growing.
I expect that when this site achieves a large US membership that Model Mayhem will pass into the dustbin of passe websites.
Answer: In my opinion the cheaper site I have looked at don't have such an enthusiastic membership
Answer: It has the widest range of models that seem to be serious about what they do. The revue system works well and both unreliable photographers and models are soon flagged up
Answer: No way this could in some ways paint a false picture and possibly a kind of commercial bullying.
