My phone does not work in my home,, it works fine everywhere else but not at my home. It used to work but they must have changed something. I can hear people but they can't hear me. Also often I don't receive texts until over 24 hours after they were sent. When I tried to get support I get" Opps something went wrong please return to previous page " over and over again. I could not recommend their service and I am shopping for a new one.
Once you are locked out of your account you are absolutely screwed. Impossible to contact anyone without being logged in. How the hell does that make sense? It's not that there is bad customer service, the issue is there is ZERO customer service. I have never seen a company run this bad in my life. I am finally done with them. Anything else is a better option. Please, sign up at your own risk. The frustration is absolutely not worth it.
You can't get help from anyone you chat if they responded it's doing it by luck if you want to transfer your numbers you have to pay extra monthly bill redeculass carrier or company don't waist your time and money on this.
The Public Mobile website is the worst I've ever used, and I make websites for a living. You have to create a "Public Mobile Community" account to purchase a SIM card, and you need a SIM card in order to make your actual Public Mobile "My Account" account to buy a plan. The website itself has lots of dead links that go to 404s or redirect to the homepage. There's an option to change your province, but it's not remembered any time you go to another page. God forbid you need to contact customer support, it's almost like they don't want customers. I'm surprised they have any at all with how many hoops you have to jump through and puzzles you have to solve.
I was finally able to purchase a SIM, but it didn't arrive after 2 weeks, so I contacted support and they sent another one which did arrive 1 week later. The booklet it came with has instructions that say you have to scan their QR code to download the Public Mobile app, but my phone is too old, so the app doesn't appear in the store for me. I opened their website and clicked their "Chat Now" bubble in the bottom right which opened a popup with nothing in it, then 20 seconds later some inputs and dropdowns appeared with no text anywhere to indicate what was supposed to go in them.
The last straw for me was when I went to make my "My Account" account through their website and it deleted my Community account, along with my purchase history for the SIM card. Telus is a 36.6 billion dollar company and yet can't afford to make a good website. I'll be destroying the SIM card I purchased and not bothering with this provider. If you decide you want to try, I wish you luck.
I have been with Pubic Mobile for two years and love it, except for their USA roaming packages. In the USA, P.M.'s carriers are AT&T and T-Mobile. AT&T have converted their entire system to 4 and 5G. T-Mobile has nearly completed their conversion to 4 and 5G. Here is the catch, P.M.'s USA roaming plan only can be accessed on 3G networks, which almost entirely no longer exists in the States. P.M.'s small print states that it may not work everywhere in the USA. They do not tell you either where it will work or when it wil not work. As it turns out, uit works almost no where. It is very discouraging to know that P.M. knowingly sells their loyal customer a product that they know is very unlikely to work. Integrity is an important aspect of any business. They should sell a product, even at a higher cost, that works.
Their website is arduous to navigate and will not accept any cards from outside of Canada, yet I still receive emails asking me to set up automatic billing. I have been to two parts of the US, one just over the border from Canada and very populated - and although I am connected, and paid for roaming text, I am not receiving text messages.
Customer service isn't on main site - you are told to join a separate community and have to create a separate log in to raise a ticket to wait for someone to email you back.
It is appalling.
Don't waste your time or money? I've waited so long to get the SIM card. They're probably not even gonna have the plan anymore I wanted
Some people won't like that they don't have proper customer service, so if you don't like that then this carrier may not be for you. I love it though because everything is done online, so that means no social anxiety associated with phone calls and no being left on hold for hours on end. Definitely a plus in my book. The set up process was insanely easy. Just had to get a sim card and follow the instructions. Also, you can't beat the prices. They use the same network as Telus, so you don't have to worry about having proper coverage. The point system is great. You gradually acquire points which can be redeemed for money off your bill. Also you can get a $10 credit if you sign up with the code 5VOOP8
There is no support from any staff whatsoever. The AI "Simon" is useless. My number wasn't completely transported and my original cellphone provider asked me to tell Public to send them another request. Of course, there is no one to talk to, just an endless login loop to try to start a ticket. Incompetent and useless by design. I deeply regret even trying with this provider. The only real person you may talk to is the sales agent. After that, it's $#*! you, too bad, nobody home, just a badly designed AI that hasn't the slightest ability to help. Even sewage garbage can't be this $#*!ty! Go back to cellphone provider school you idiots!
I have just transferred my phone provider to Public Mobile. The transfer instructions from the website were clear and straightforward. With support from the Public Mobile community, I got answers in a few minutes. Plus, I could accumulate points after paying every dollar. The points could be used to redeem the monthly bill payment. If you use the code"LWW8Z7", you will get $10, which covers your cost for the sim card. Try it.
Yup you read right, 3$/month! It's super easy to lower your bill with Public Mobile.
First, use code JPZ936 at checkout to get 10$ free (one shot deal, not every month).
Then, take the automatic payment for 2$/month discount
And just refer everyone you know to this deal for 1$/month discount each.
Finally, you get a 1$/month discount every year for loyalty.
Got horrible support from Public Mobile. Activation failed error 821. Two days of back and forth email with their support, nothing did work, no access to the website, no cell phone number transfer, they billed my credit card twice and no service was provided. They refused to credit me. STAY AWAY.
Hello, I have been with Public Mobile for several months now and I am very satisfied with it in addition to being very advantageous compared to the competition. You can subscribe directly to Walmart who can do all the activation for you. By using the code 20XQ2Q you get discounts of $ 10 on your activation and $ 2 per month discount if you pay your bill by credit card. The best price in town, I'm from Quebec City. Public Mobile is Telus, only the price that changes.
STAY FAR AWAY. Public Mobile never properly ported my phone number. Due to this, I could not get incoming calls or texts. This was never resolved, I paid in full for the month and did not get the services for which I paid. Opened multiple tickets to customer service, but they were either non-responsive or unhelpful. The most horrible part is, that my brother passed away and I will never be able to know if he called or texted. I explained this to Public Mobile and they responded with an exclamation mark and an emoji. The encounters I had with this company have been beyond what words can describe.
Public Mobile is a package with a great value for money compared to the competition, to which must be added a series of attractive commercial offers:
- a $ 10 credit in the 2nd month upon activation with the friend code XL6525
- $ 2 discount on the package by automatic payment,
- $ 1 discount on the package after one year of loyalty,
- $ 1 discount on the package for any sponsored friend...
- For a limited time use the Referral code: 2GBBONUS to obtain an additional 2.0 GB, valid only on a plan of $ 35 / month and more.
In the end, a series of great savings in prospect!
3G speed only
Public mobile is an affordable service, as it provides the bare minimums with 3G internet service and little customer support. But if that is enough for you then it is great bang for your buck!
I use the $25 plan that comes with unlimited texting/calling and it includes 1gb of data.
You can use my OK74XV code for a free $10 credit to your account.
They don't have customer service, you have to go online and make an contact to speak with volunteers who waste your time and never actually help. They drag the back and forth messages with endless verification questions. One of them even ridiculed me and didn't bother to proceed addressing my inquiry. I regret switching to this company. This is my last month with them, I highly encourage people to do your research and reconsider.
Followed all provided set up and porting instructions. I spent almost a month unaware my phone number could not receive calls or text. I am expected to pay for my next month of no service in a couple of days.
Calling their customer service line gives only account information or changes to, no assistance with problems. The ONLY methods of assistance are going to a physical store and complaining, or making a second Public mobile account for their forums and MAYBE getting a reply in a few days. Then waiting another few days to get a reply to your response.
Go with Public Mobile if you want to gamble on paying for a service you wont get, and jumping through hoops to MAYBE correct it.
Photos are from the Public Mobile Community 'Help' forum.
Setup was smooth and easy.
Porting an existing number is fast, or you can customize a new number.
SIM cards can be purchased for just $2.99 at Canadian Cell Supplies with free shipping.
Good national coverage on Telus network.
The basic plans with add-ons that don't time expire fit my needs well.
There are several reward options to lower your monthly bill, discounts that add up over time, and are welcome for those of us on a retired fixed income.
