So I found out about POF from a friend of mine and started my page. After I wrote a nice profile about my self and posted a few pictures I started looking at guys profile. I took a couple of "test" that they have where they show you who you could be compatible with and you could put not interested, interested or maybe. From time to time I would talk to a couple of guys here and there but nothing serious. There was a profile that keep popping up over and over in my search. I read the profile before and thought this guy was attractive so I clicked "maybe interested" I had no idea that when you click "maybe" it shows the other person that you are interested in them. A few days later the guy I said "maybe" too decided to message me... now almost 4 years later I am on my way to saying yes to him for the rest of my life. In the end its not the website... its the person. Some people get on the site looking for love, well if they are really ready and put their all into it, then it can work (just like any relationship) Others go on for fun and games, which is fine, but if you are really trying to start dating someone and you know you want a relationship, don't even try to talk to the ones that is just looking for fun or to just be friends. Just my advice... but the site worked for me!

I tried the site with a 3 month trial. Just discovered today they automatically charged me for a renewal I did not ask for. Going back over the upgrade email it does say they will automatically renew but that part is conveniently off to the right of the email so it doesn't show up to notify you of the sneaky practice. I have sent an email to this company with the information they requested for a refund but they have not responded. Cant leave a message as their complaint/refund voice box is full. I have been forced to file a dispute for the charges on my Visa card through my account with them. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CARD NUMBER ONLINE. ITS A TRAP! GO BACK...

I've been using this site for a few months now. Its not any better than Match, or OKCupid, or Our Time. You still get the stupid fake come on - "So and So wants to meet you"... NOT! I actually got a "reply" from a woman kindly turning down my request to strike up an acquaintance... I never sent her a message, and I never even saw a profile to send a message to! The only difference I see with this site is apparently more women in my town use it than the other sites. The absolute WORST thing though is POF slows down wiithout warning. One minute you're surfing profiles or messaging someone, and WHAM! You can't go to the next page, or get to your mailbox for 45 minutes to an hour... the pages just time out and the site becomes useless. My recommendation is, if you use this site, DO NOT opt for the paid subscription... you won't be happy.

The biggest complaint I have about this site is not really about the site at all. Instead, my complaint is about the women who post profiles.

I wish I had statistics about the percentage of women who write that they "love to laugh" and "don't want drama". There are many, many other cliches used as well. But in short, the primary message that most women on this site seem to want to convey is that they are seeking only good times and have no patience for a real relationship. Why would anyone want to date these immature, hedonistic, and spoiled women? Even more significant, why would anyone want to marry these women who appear to be only interested in fun and nothing else?

This could be a decent site, if only members would provide more detail about themselves, and avoid all the dating-site cliches like the ones I mentioned above. And members should exercise great caution to avoid sounding like children in search of nothing but good times.

I've been on the site for a couple of years on and off, and it truly is a nightmare of a site to the point I'm closing my account. Firstly the site owner feels you shouldn't send messages to people more then 9 years younger or older then yourself. Rather then giving users the ability to adjust age ranges of who can message them instead.

Secondly, if you're a genuine guy out there, like myself who is actually looking for a meaningful relationship, yes ladies we do actually exist if you look enough.

Forget POF, you will waste your time messaging and getting little in responses back on this site. Even if you share interests or talk about hobbies, interests and places they've travelled. Ratio wise, out of 10 messages sent, you might be lucky if you get 1-2 replies back. Can be very demoralizing.

Thus making the point of writing a meaningful message pointless, as an experiment recently. I created a female profile, with permission from a friend to use some of her photo's. Within 2 minutes of setting up the profile, it gained 11 mails from guys. In 20 minutes nearly 50 messages and 99+ Meet Me's.

I think it's got to the stage now, where women are getting so inundated with messages from guys. That most simply will not respond and those who do make an effort are being lost in the ton's of messages from sex addicts who aren't really looking for dating and a relationship.

Match.com is even worse, full of Fake Profile's/Scammer's & fake messages, hacking into
Your Email account.
If u want to meet someone, the internet dating game, is a no go. Go to the Supermarket, go for a walk, go the the library or for a walk on the beach or go to your local food & produce & Art & craft markets to meet someone,

POF is by far the worst dating service that You will ever use. I used to be a member and all I got was fake profiles, scammers and unhappy ladies that are trying to make men pay for what their exes did to them. I was as polite as you can possibly be and got My profile deleted just because I politely turned down some of these ladies. The POF management won't even look into it, they will just take their word. If you're looking for an honest dating service, try OKcupid. POF is just garbage.

Dear Ladies,
Don't lower your standards or think you will find the man of your dreams in this cesspool. In my market I have seen and experienced men on here that are only looking to find a woman to play around with. Rarely are they genuine or worse yet, who they pretend to be in their profiles.
In fact, I saw my loser ex boyfriend put on a new profile on there just 2 weeks after we broke! We were together almost 3 years! I stood by him through thick and thin! He says in his profile that he's had a few casual relationships in recent years! Lie. His says he's self-employed--? Another lie. He has no job, no car, and just found out he has major health issues. He also spent a year in jail! He's a disgraced disbarred lawyer! Has an ex wife he hates, but claims in his profile that he"s great friends with his ex-- who is a real nut job, and gets jealous if he has a woman in his life. He's a real hot mess! However, he's also a narcissist of the highest order, and is looking for his next victim. Someone to use and abuse and drain every penny from, because he has no money! He's on social services in New York State. Lives for free in his parents dumpy apt., that they need to sell. So in other words, Beware of the type of bottom feeder men on this site! They are rarely sincere or who they say they are. Because the site is free, it attracts guys of the lowest common denominator for the most part! Same men have been on there for years!
