If you enjoy wasting your time cultivating an online order, only to see cart pricing surge for no apparent reason, Peapod may be what you are looking for... I recently spent 35 minutes putting together an order for pick up. One of the items, diced onions and celery was part of a meal deal promo... was advised store was out with no substitute. Upon hitting ok button, order refreshed, price jumped nearly 20 dollars... was not able to ascertain why pricing jumped... was unable to add bonus card in at the checkout stage... eventually i just went to the store to do my shopping... lo and behold, there was approx 15 tubs of the celery and onions... not ready for prime time... never again!
I am disgusted at the continuous downhill delivery from PEAPOD. I consistently order thinly sliced deli meats and cheeses (which is an option to choose as well) and I'm sent THICK already sliced meats from the to go section section. When you go into the store and request thinly sliced, I receive the label that says thinly sliced, this label doesn't have that and we end up receiving one third less slices of our meats and cheese which end up choke-able for our toddlers in a sandwich. We've now Complained about this three times and it never changes. This week I also received a rotten apple and our zucchinis broken in half.
This is very sad because Peapod used to be the best delivery service in my area. Slowly customer support became nonexistent and their policies are suspect and what I mean is that when an item is on sale they do not deliver saying it is out of stock even though it is still on their website as in stock. I think they want to substitute with a cheaper item but I don't allow substitutions. You can never reach them by phone and they do not reply to emails. The drivers are nice thus the two stars
UPDATED 2/28/2022 Everything is back to normal and things have changed dramatically for the better so all is well that ends well.
I understand that every one of us are facing hardships due to the global pandemic. Many supplies are hard to come by. With that said, I can't understand my failure to secure a delivery slot despite making over 200 attempts in 6 days. With items assembled in my cart for the past 6 days, I visit the delivery schedule grid multiple times per hour 20 hours out of a 24 hour day. Several times, I go to the grid, where there are no openings, visit 5 minutes later, and see a new day added with the slots completely sold out. Day after day after day. Are there others like me who are doing the same thing but are more tech savvy than me or do they visit twice as many times as I've visited? Love to know the answer. Can't ask Peapod; they disconnected their email option for the present time.
This would be a great service... if it ******* worked! It crashes all of the time. I spend some time carefully selecting groceries only to have the service crash halfway through the process. This has happened twice now. Screw it, I might as well just go to the store.
Drivers are rude and always late. The produce comes rotten or if not, it goes bad 2-3 days later. You can never get through to customer service, the wait time is 20 minutes or more. There are so many food delivery sites these days, don't waste your money on Peapod. I was a loyal customer for years but unfortunately, they are out of chances.
I had my first experience with Peapod at Giant grocery store & it will be my last this past Saturday. After I picked up my purchase I had a 2nd charge, I called Saturday, Sunday & finally reached them Monday after a 40 minute wait. They told me they put a hold & it would be released Tuesday morning. It's Tuesday & I now have a 3rd charge. One day before Christmas & they're cleaning out my account. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. I'll be contacting my bank as soon as they open to report fraud.
I recently ordered for the 1st time from peapod. The breads meats, lunch meat had sell by dates of the 14th. My milk container is leaking. I spent 176.00 on old food. I picked up the products on the 15th. I felt as if they were just unloading their old merchandise into my cart. I never used this service but had to due to having surgery. Also they have designated parking for pick up but this isn't enforced either as customers that are in the store shopping are using these spots. I tried to contact them but was disconnected telling me the call volume was too high and to call back later. Im asking for full refund if I can get through. Very dissatisfied and disappointed with this service.
They never have half of what I want, which confuses the bill, I can't tell what they charged me for and what they didn't, never let me know if they don't have something, WEIRD substitutions that make no sense - I ordered fresh basil and they gave and charged me for dried basil -WHO doesn't already have dried basil on hand? They didn't have the ice cream sandwiches I ordered so sent Soy ice cream sandwiches. What? There's more, but since is the third terrible delivery in a row, I give up. Like others have said, if you have a problem there is no way to let them know. Very frustrating.
Tim was today's driver. He was the nicest young man I've met in a long time. He was extremely helpful! After bringing in the groceries, he took a half case of water out of the fridge and put it in my garage. He then put the turkey on a cookie sheet and put it in my fridge! He knew I didn't really have the strength to do this. All without my asking! What a fine and considerate fellow. Kudos to him! Please commend Tim for his consideration of an elderly customer!
I ordered groceries from peapod - got a text saying that the driver was in my neighborhood and I was next on the list. I went down, stood at the door and watched the driver deliver to my neighbor, then drive by my house without stopping. Then I got a text from peapod informing me that my groceries were delivered.
I've called; their phone system no longer even puts me on hold, just tells me to call later because the call volume is too high. I've sent emails; they reply that they'll respond within 5 business days. I've submitted webforms. The only reply asked me to check to see if the groceries had been delivered yet - which indicates that they hadn't read the part of the email where I said, "I watched the driver drive by without stopping".
There are multiple grocery delivery services out there. Don't do giant.
My delivery time was changes three times. The last delivery notificaton stated delivery was going to be between 9:50 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. The phone app indicated at 10:10 p.m. that my groceries had been delivered. My groceries were never delivered to me. The charge was on my card.
I have just waited 37mins for Customer Service over a $5 promotion which I did not receive. They refused to give me my promotion so I won't be using them again. It's not the $5 it's the principle of the thing that $5 dollars needed 37 min from Customer Service. I will not be using them again there are too many delivery / pick up sites around to be treated like crap from CS.
Driver took a $20 tip, but then just left groceries on porch. Including 4 bags of cat litter. Also wouldn't take plastic bags for recycling. Call customer serve and was told that they don't do in-house deliveries and it was a health department regulation they could not take bags for recycling. Driver was rude and cursive when I tried to explain what I thought was supposed to happen and when a call to Peapod confirmed what he said I thought he would come in his pants he was so happy. Will never, ever, ever, use again.
I always use peapod. Last month my 24 box of soda when I used it was expired. I didn't even know soda expires. Only wondered why it tasted different and looked closely at the can. Anyway 24 cans down the drain. I thought oh I got a bad batch and thankfully didn't serve it to guests!
Now I ordered another set of soda boxes and the expiration date is around 30 days! Why would I buy boxes of soda that will expire in 30 days. I don't actually see that close of an expiry in the store when I go since now I check.
When I spoke to a peapod rep she said I can return it to the driver if I order again within 30 days. I said I just made a bulk order and won't be doing so. But that's all she can do she said. Won't even let me talk anymore. I had to politely say can I ask something for her to stop reciting. So I asked her to give me a free shipping for the next order for the return and I'll make a special order just to return the 4 cases I bought. She gives $5 only. When the cheapest delivery fee is $6.95 She said that's they policy and shipping fee varies. Huh? Never down to $5
Will I be using peapod again, most probably not for goods that expire. Which leaves little choices. So would the delivery fee be worth it? I'd rather order from Amazon or Walmart now.
Too bad since the Peapod driver in my area was supper nice!
ShopRite has a much better selection for online delivery or pick-up. You can shop from the Weekly Flyer,(not with PP), get All sales going on,(not with PP), and use coupons with ShopRite. You also have a Personal Shopper, who will call you, BEFORE any substitutions or cancellations are made. I switched 6 months ago, and glad I did. Have not had one incident with ShopRite yet, after experiencing all off everything said below.
The benefit of using Peapod is convenience. Their produce is awful! Every time I have ordered fruit I have received hard, unripened, in eatable fruit! The other issue, if the product is not available, take it off the web site.
I placed my 1st order using a $25 off $75 purchase yesterday, sat. 6/22/2019. My order confirmation email receipt had a total of $48.89
OK so I pick up my purchase and 3 items were removed, just not at all listed. Not on the substitution list nor the out of stock. Completely removed, Giant says they received the order as is although my email order confirmation lists those 3 items which totaled $6.50.
It is ever so convenient that the $6.50 brought my order total to $70.40 therefore making the $25.00 off coupon no longer applicable.
Fast forward, after holding for CS for half an hour I put in my number to get a call back - NOTHING. I called back on Sunday only to experience a "higher than normal wait time" of 60+ minutes, entered my number and again no call back. Sent, two emails, as of today did not receive a response.
I called again today and finally spoke with someone who said there was nothing that could be done, I asked to speak to a manager, another woman picked up & said the same, nothing could be done then offered to transfer me to a manager. I said I had already asked to speak to a manager and was told that you were one, I shouldn't be surprised but she hung up on me.
Please be careful when using this service, they will overcharge you for an order, the amount you see on your confirmation email is an "estimate" and you can be charged more once you pick up your order or its delivered and you will be missing items--without the store saying anything. If that is not insult enough, you can be DOUBLE charged at any time (they will take no blame and INSIST that it's no on their end even after the bank has confirmed it was a SECOND charge)
Excellent and trustworthy grocery delivery service. Provides almost all the foods you need, and delivers in a professional manner. Everything comes in perfect condition, the delivery drivers have been on time, and it saves me time through the past orders. Easy to use site, and service. Would highly recommend Peapod for grocery deliveries to anyone. It's the best one I've used for delivery!
