Bad Business practice
July 9, 2018

We used OpenTable.com for the first time. We also have an account with them. The very first time we used their service they sent us an email accusing us of not showing up at the restaurant and should have cancelled our reservation. We WERE THERE and the hostess marked off our reservation. Will never use OpenTable again!

The owners of Canyons in Blowing Rock sold recently & The Ridlgeline opened in its place.
My husband & I went there this morning for Sunday Brunch. No only were the drinks terrible and watered down, but we wound up walking out after an hour of waiting for our order.
Would not recommend at all!

Reward Program Bait and No Reward
June 15, 2018

I used Open Table 100 times over ten years with the goal accumulating 10,000 points and finally getting a $100 certificate. After 10 years, my 10,000 points turn out to worth only $25, AND I get an email from Open Table this morning that last night's birthday dinner for my wife doesn't qualify for any points - no explanation was given.

Always call to confirm!
May 20, 2018

Thank you La Morra in Brookline for honoring our reservation - confirmed by my email from open table. They had our 5:30 for eight listed for Monday; our reservation was for Sat. We had to rush a bit but the meal and service was amazing. And a graduation celebration was saved.

Easy to use, but know they generally steer you to the more expensive restaurants. The point thing is mainly a scam... they make them very difficult to find on you desktop computer... not accessible on cell phone. Most restaurants do not award the $ value OT says you have, e.g. you have $20 worth of points, but restaurants either do not accept at all, or give you only $10. Then OT sends you a picture of a credit card with your name on it... the restaurant has never seen it before, and when they plug in the number, it is rejected. Sonuse if you like for some convenience, but the whole point thing is a scam. The restaurants probably pay something to OT to lure people in, and It is not wanting to share that revenue.

My family recently went to a new Peruvian restaurant that we felt was exceptional. All three of our dishes, snapper with a side of seafood, ribeye steak and roasted chicken were very good. All agreed that the Reserve Cabernet from Chile was great and half price on Tuesdays. The various chile and cilantro sauces accompanied the meal, giving us a taste of Peru. Our 3 yr old grandchild enjoyed lomata ice cream which was new to all of us. The outdoor patio on these pleasant evenings was an added bonus.

The worst experience ever!
March 16, 2018

We had the worst experience ever! We were on a family vacation and my family and husband was racially profiled and was told by their restaurant Manager Samantha that she was going to call the police on my husband because he refused to pay for someone that was not on his ticket. She basically accused him of stealing a meal that someone else was supposed to have eaten. He told her that he only had him and his two daughters on his ticket and he asked to speak to a manager and she said that she and Orange County Police was the only 2 people that he could talk to. The hotel Manager Lauren Corley was called to assist in the situation after Samantha threaten and humiliated my husband. It was clear that Lauren was not in agreement with how Lauren handled the situation but did nothing but justify her restaurant manager actions. We visit Disney at least once a year and Chef Mickey "used" to be our best character dining. We will never step foot in an establishment that treat their customers of color differently from some one of a different race.

Chef Mickey, The Contemporary Resort, and Disney should be a shame of their Managers that treated us in this manner and fire them!

I'm surprised by all the negative reviews. We've never had an issue with a reservation made on OT. We've used many times over the years.

Comparing two restaurants
March 5, 2018

Your comparison of Harrys new orleans style restaurant with Terrace Grille is absurd. You called them similar. Obviously, you have never seen either. The one star is for you, not for either of the restaurants.

Horrible Rewards Program
February 23, 2018

The only benefit to even use Open Table is if you would rather make a reservation online versus calling. The reward program is a joke. No flexibility, with no changing your mind on which restaurant to use it on. I thought I'd surprise my husband with a nice dinner reservation but when he looked at the menu, he didn't like the options. But too late on the rewards program... I already accepted the 'gift card' and so can only be used there, even though we no longer want to eat there. Asked nicely twice and they gave me the same canned answer with no option for using my reward at another restaurant.

Exceptionally Poor
February 15, 2018

I made a reservation through Open Table over a week in advance for a Valentines Day dinner. I received several confirmation requests from Open Table including a text. All of which I responded to positively. We arrived just prior to our reserved time only to find the restaurant had no idea we were coming. I had to resort to my smart phone to show the confirmation details from Open Table. To top it all off I receive an email from Open Table indicating we never showed for our reservation. And yes, I had already double checked the restaurant and the address. I will never use this service again.

Tired to make a reservation for 9 people at a local restaurant. The Open Table site said there was no availability for my request w/in 2.5 hrs of my requested time. I called the venue directly and they said no problem and made the reservation for me. I reached out to Open Table twice to help me resolve the problem and was told basically "so sad, too bad". I feel when there is an exception they should accommodate or at least reach out to the restaurant and have the issue cleared so that points can be earned.

Very disappointed
February 4, 2018

We made a reservation this afternoon on OpenTable and was confirmed at 16:10. We left home about 17:55 to make sure we can arrive before our reservation time 18:30. On our way to the restaurant, at 18:03, we received a call from Baton Rouge telling us that there is no place for us, the reservation is not valid.
From 16:10 to 18:03, almost 2 hours, if there is no place, why nobody inform us so we can have time to look for another restaurant. Very disappointed. Will stay away from OpenTable and Baton Rouge.

Open Table Gift Card Scam
February 2, 2018

With there new "improved' reward program I activated a 2000 point dining reward for a reservation at Piatanzi (which I love). My 2000 points immediately disappeared. I was told that I would receive an email connecting me to a $10 gift card. No such email came.

Open Table was once a great program then a couple of years ago they changed to a new rewards system that few of their restaraunts participated in & began screwing up the actual reservations, usually dates. Now they have made it worse-far worse.

They are ok for placing reservations (though calling the restaurant is easier if it is local) but don't regard the reward system as anything but a scam.

On July 1 2017 Open Table sent me a gift card "OpenTable sent you a $50.00 Dining Rewards Gift" based on the number and type of reservations I'd made through them.

On January 25 2018 when I tried to redeem it I got a card for $25 with this explanation
"I've taken a look, and it seems that in this case $25 was the full value of the reward you redeemed. The new system is designed with versatility in mind. Under the old system, you would have been able to choose from a much smaller selection of restaurants, but each of those offerings would have been for a $50 card. Now, all of those $50 offerings are still there, but you can also redeem points for most non-participating restaurants.

Since we can't issue our own gift cards for these restaurants and are instead using a third party service for them, we unfortunately have to offer them at a lesser value, which is still useful if there are very few participating restaurants in your area or perhaps you just really want to dine at this particular restaurant. This is why 5,000 points are specified on the website as being good for a $25 or $50 gift card, instead of just $50".

Now they are certainly allowed to run their gift program as they wish but I was not warned ahead of time that this is how they ran it: ie. Discounting.

Dishonest!

Bad girl! Bad girl!
January 15, 2018

Our party ended up split between an out-of-town restaurant's two locations. What a mess! We didn't know there were two... but both restaurant's staff went over and above with their helpfulness and understanding. We even went back to the "correct" restaurant the next day for another wonderful meal. Delicious! My complaint is with OpenTable's attitude. It SCOLDED me like a naughty child bent on causing financial mayhem to the restaurant. I laughed at the * well, as a courtesy to you we will remove this no-show from your dining record this time* remark. It was as if I was in third grade circa 1959 being chastised for an overdue library book "this will go on your PERMANENT RECORD MISSY!" I had OpenTable fail on two occasions last year and let it go. Mistakes happen, especially electronically, power goes out etc. All parties survived and dined anyway so to get this customer unfriendly email was especially irritating. Well, OpenTable, hate to tell you but you are in the hospitality business so get real and tell your silly TEAM to learn how to interact with customers appropriately.

We attended a birthday party at Apeiro's in Deray, today
The service was excellent with two very attentive and efficient servers. The food was quite good and everyone at our table enjoyed their lunch. As the lunch was winding down I noticed a gentleman watching the goings on. I asked if he was the manager. He said yes and I told him I wanted him to know how lovely was the experience we had. I told him I would write Opentable to let others know.

Booked a local reservation on 12/29 for New Years Eve. The restaurant had no record of my reservation and we were out of luck. Restaurant was of no help and opentable had the nerve to send me an email stating I was a no show. Screw you opentable.
