Open Table is a FRAUD
April 16, 2015

I ORDERED A $70 GIFT CARD FOR A RESTAURANT AND I NEVER RECEIVED IT. I HAVE CONTACTED OPEN TABLE EVERY DAY FOR 5 DAYS AND THEY KEEP SAYING THEY WILL LOOK INTO AND NOTHING. THEY DID HOWEVER TAKE NOT ONE BUT TWO $70 WITHDRAWS OFF MY BANK CARD. I AM LEAVING FOR VACATION TOMORROW AND THIS PLACE STOLE MY MONEY. NOW I HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER 5 DAYS TO DO A FORMAL DISPUTE CLAIM THROUGH MY BANK AND IT WILL TAKE MORE TIME BEFORE AND IF I EVER SEE MY MONEY BACK. DO NOT USE THIS SITE. IT IS A FRAUD.

The Boat House, Chertsey
April 5, 2015

Visited this restaurant with my family - a group of nine. The setting was more cafe than restaurant. The garlic bread was like warm doe. The pate starter was obviously cheap with toast that was really warm bread. The main course - my husband asked for a well done steak it was served with blood dripping when cut. My father in law and I chose lamb. It was served on a ridiculously small plate with mine consisting of cauliflower and three odd tasting road potatoes ( I think that is what they were). All piled on top of each other with the lamb on the top ( due to the tiny plate) My father in law had brocoli and two roast potatoes piled up. Two meals I had to ask for twice and then were eventually served when everyone had just about finished their main course. The supposed chicken burgers were more like chicken dinosaurs from iceland but costing considerably more. The desserts were tasteless and overpriced. Would certainly not recommend this restaurant unless you want to through money away.

Dont bother with them
April 1, 2015

Simply useless. Time after time they cannot give me a table for the time or the number of people that I request. I call the restaurant and no problem, reservations made. Using them is a total waste of time

Open Table Fail
March 8, 2015

Have used OpenTable a number of times and it has been fine but recently had an incident with a booking -- arriving on time, the restaurant Cleaver and Cork in Kansas City, said that they were fully booked when I booked on OT, even though I had gotten confirmation from OT, we were turned away. Think I'll delete the app.

Impossible!
March 5, 2015

I used to love Open Table - easy, convenient, didn't have to deal with snotty hostesses. But ever since they were purchased by Priceline, and have redone the website, it's impossible. I made a reservation for Valentine's Day in December and had to read the newspaper in January to find out that the restaurant had closed. Did Open Table notify me? NO... and I couldn't even cancel the reservation in Open Table. Thankfully, I had enough time to find another restaurant and I made the reservation the old fashioned way - with the telephone. The latest problem is using credit cards to secure the reservation. Many restaurants require a credit card to secure the reservation. But for some reason, the reservations aren't completed when the credit card is involved - I get all sorts of error messages. I'm guessing it's some sort of software problem but I wouldn't even know how to fix it. The new web site is difficult to use. What used to be an easy to use site that was easy on the eyes is now just a mess. I'm about to become an ex Open Table user - and I'm a VIP!

Well, what can I say
February 15, 2015

Well, what can I say. We booked what we thought was going to be a lovely, romantic Valentine's Day reservation at a well regarded restaurant to have a romantic dinner on Valentine's Day (with my pregnant and hungry wife). I booked weeks in advance through OpenTable, receiving my email confirmation of the reservation shortly after booking the reservation. We were very excited to see what the Chef had in store for a very special meal and had been anticipating this dining experience for weeks. After driving 45 minutes, we arrived only to find out that our reservations had been cancelled. We were told that only those who prepaid maintained their reservation, and the rest were cancelled. We provided our email and phone number when booking the reservation through OpenTable but never received any request to prepay or any email or call advising us that our reservation had been cancelled. For a site whose sole purpose is to manage reservations, OpenTable failed miserably. I will never, and I mean never, ever try booking a dinner reservation through OpenTable again, and would highly recommend that if you are reading this review and are considering booking through OpenTable, you think twice, because you may end up like me and be thrown out in the cold on what may have been meant to be a very special dinner occasion because you put your trust in OpenTable.

I'm beginng to have serious reservations about OpenTable. They apparently suspended my account, because I have too many "no shows", according to them. To my knowledge I have never had a "no show", much less four! Still, they keep sending me advertisement emails.

I tried several times to write them with the following text, but they make it supremely difficult so to do.

"Why do you keep sending me these emails? Especially since you won't answer my emailed disputes as to why I've been suspended. I request particulars, because, to my knowledge, I have NEVER walked a reservation."

Maybe somebody at OpenTable will contact me, now that I've gone public, lol.

Open Table gift cards for Christmas
January 3, 2015

Open Table gift cards for Christmas. Worst gift ever. Will not allow me to activate card without picking a restaurant in Washington DC. Live in Frederick, DC 50 miles Baltimore 45 miles. We have plenty of places locally that accept OT except site won't allow..

How come it seems that whenever I use open table I never get a good table. It's like they stick me and my party in the mosr awkward place. Also, when I use the site it says there are no reservations fir a particular time so I choose an earlier one I get there and there are plenty of seats available. This is definitely the last time I am using this site.

Great site for finding reservations although it has some major drawbacks: eateries listed are fairly limited; timing of cancellations very different from reservations - you can make one within 30 mins of time you want, but cancelling is 24 hrs in advance. Otherwise, site works great. Also, most restaurant week places are listed on here.

Our Friday nights out always bring us to Liberatore's in Eldersburg. From Dante welcoming us at the door to the wonderful wait staff that serves us it makes our weekly dining a wonderful experience! The Pumpkin Ravioli on the Fall Special menu is one of the best I have had! I especially love the menu changing with the seasons, thanks Dante for making us want to come back over and over again!

GOING DOWN HILL
October 20, 2014

GOING DOWN HILL
OT has been declining in it's service to provide points. Is this the failure of their clients (restaurants who use this service) or. OT? In 2014 I have had to chase down the missing points, AND remind restaurant staff, upon arriving that "this is an OT reservation". I did not have these problems prior to 2014. However... using a OT forum to complain, I was able to retrieve 2 of 4 un-posted points earned by honoring the reservation. Here we go again, as I checked my account and found 2 more. This is getting old and tiresome. But by-G_d you forget to cancel a reservation and have them threaten to remove you remove OT! (had it happen once, only to have to prove that I DID show up) SCREEN captures help, people. Too bad we need to jump through these hoops, though.

I made a dinner reservation on August 12th for October 9th through opentable for Amada in Philadelphia for 8:00pm to celebrate my wife's bday & we arrived@ 7:50pm. When we arrived & gave our name the hostess could not find my reservation then she asked for a phone # & found it. We were told to wait@ the bar & that someone would come get us when a table became available. It was strange that the hostess had a lost look on her face in reference to the reservation when on October 7th@ 1:51 pm someone from Amada called to confirm my reservation. We were told by the hostess that it would take 10 minutes to get our table, she asked us to go to the bar & that she would come get us. After waiting 40 minutes we went to check the status of our table & we were told there was no table available yet.We asked if they planned for these situations & we were told they did the best they could. We felt that they did not care about how long we waited. Jose Garces being as famous as he is should be more careful in the type of people he hires, unfortunately they are a reflection on him. The hostess just waked away with no "let me check & see what I can do". We walked out very disappointed & we will not go back to any Jose Garces restaurants or recommend them. Very very unhappy with the way we were treated.

I am so happy to have found this site, with all the scathing reviews for OPEN TABLE, and am about to add my own which would be "zero stars" except I think they make you give it at least 1. Today, I received another email from OPEN TABLE, touting their latest handful of restaurants. It reminded me that a week ago, I was corresponding with some people from OPEN TABLE's so-called "customer care" department about the fact that I DID NOT receive a 1000 points for a restaurant--a restaurant we decided to try so we could earn the points--which means in theory, it's a good concept that works. After a few rounds of emails, from John W, Bouvanesh A, and Ranjeeta A, repeatedly telling me they could not find any record of my reservation--I finally received an email from Ranjeeta A, saying he found the reservation, but because I left out one letter in my email address when I made the reservation, I would not be earning any points! How's that for some great PR?! I am going to print out the worst reviews from this site, as well as my own, and give them to the actual restaurant we went to, so the restaurant can see they are dealing with unprofessional people who are more interested in earning a few bucks than they are in creating good will among their patrons. I mean, really, had OPEN TABLE told me about the email error and still given me the 1000 points, I would have been satisfied and happy to continue booking through them. Now I'm just annoyed and will cancel my membership. Businesses with little or no customer service end up digging their own hole.

I never heard of OpenTable but they claim I made a reservation. I think they are scamming businesses into thinking reservations were made that weren't--to collect a fee I am guessing.

Don't believe OpenTable when they say there is no seating at the time you want. I wanted a table at Trader Vic's in Portland OR, at 7:00 on a Thursday evening. OpenTable said the only available seating was at 5:00 and 9:00, we took the 5:00 even though it was really difficult to make that happen. The dinner was great, drinks good, atmosphere nice, but a lot of empty tables, all night until about 8:30 when we left. In short, if you want to get a table at a certain time and OpenTable says it's not available, call the restaurant and make the reservations yourself.
