I have been VERY happy while being under the care of my doctor for years. The billing was then taken care of by NHRMC. I had Blue Cross PPO and everything was smooth. Just had to pay my $15 copay.
Then I turned 65. Medicare was my primary insurance, PPO the second one. This PPO insurance is one of the best.
Since it changed to Novant Health, it has been a nightmare. Had to involve my PPO insurance to lower the price for hundreds of dollars... Then I received another bill that reads I have to pay for extra time with my doctor... which he did NOT spend with me. My PPO and Medicare refused it of course. My copay is $15 and since NOVANT is here, I have to pay for anything I did not have to pay for before, and spend my time to contact my insurance to resolve the billing issues. It creates now high blood pressure from stress.
This is unacceptable. Novant uses Medicare patients (in the hope they are not able to react, due to their age) to pay for something they are not supposed to pay!
I am considering suing Novant Health.
Meanwhile, I will have to find another doctor, regretfully indeed, who is not affiliated to Novant Health.
I am not sure how Novant Health can treat its patients the way I have been treated. I had back surgery by Dr. Back on March 31,2022 and stayed in the hospital after the surgery until April 3rd, 2022. My insurance changed on March 31st from BPA to Vitori on April 1st.
First of all, Dr. Back did not seek approval for my surgery prior to March 31st. I had to tell his office to get the approval some months after my surgery when Novant Health tried to bill me $174,000 for the surgery and hospital stay. BPA refused to pay the $174,000 because Novant Health tried to charge BPA for the entire stay from March 31st to April 3rd. I had to call Novant Health billing to tell them they needed to send the invoice to BPA for the March 31st expenses and then Vitoria for the April 1 to April 3 expenses. So instead they sent the entire bill to Vitori who of course refused to pay. After calling Novant Health several times giving them the phone numbers and the exact details they needed to appropriately bill each insurance company, I then received a call from a billing person who said they would investigate into it to make sure everything was being completed properly. I get a letter back saying that they were doing everything correctly and I owed the full $174,000. Finally, over the past two weeks I get notification from both insurance companies advising me what they were covering and that I would owe $15,000. Then on Friday, July 21st, 2023 I get an email from Novant Health saying that I owed $15,000 and I needed to make payments or this would be sent to a collection agency.
What kind of company does this to a person? What kind of health care company would do this? I will be calling them tomorrow and letting them know what kind of health care company they are. I will never go to Novant Health again and I am going to tell as many people as possible what kind of scum they are.
I am a VP of clinical operations RN who works with a local Assisted Living and called medical records for assistance for a new resident that moved into our community and was looking for H/P and med list from his primary care Dr Gary Summers. The medical records staff member on the phone was so rude and cold and just kept repeating the fax number to me and kept repeating it to me and not allowing me to speak at all. I am glad I know this is how you help facilitate continuous care across medical facilities for our seniors. Great job on a bad first impression for to give to a very influential senior representative for a large company.
I had taken wellness appointment and FPA had no other patient, she started checking my hands, shoulders and asked if I have any pain anywhere, I informed on pain in shoulder, she made note of it in her reports, then wellness visit was billed as illness visit stating left shoulder pain is not part of wellness visit. No medication was prescribed for it, neither I was looking for it
NOVANT is running scam, beware of them and don't go to their facilities if you have other options
I went to Annual visit to Novant on 11/22/2022 and this is my first time going to Novant. I was billed for it. I called couple of times about this, they say it is charged because I discussed about mu conditions with the doctor. This is the first times in 20 years that I am charged for Annual visit.
I went 911 to Er on 1/5/23 to novant presbyterian medical center. I was initially seen at which time I had elevated htn. I was there for acute asthma attack treated in ambulance. I informed them mother with htn and stroke. I was given no treatment. I was sent out to lobby never to be treated or seen again. Never went through registration. I was taken back and forth for diagnostic tests from the lobby. The er halls had dead people in wc that were there for some time as rigor mortis had set in. Others in the lobby were there for 6,8 and 10 hours even crying in pain. I left when I realized I was not going to get treatment and I needed to go home and get blood pressure medicine. They billed and were paid by my insurance company even without complete registration. I have information my insurance the claim is fraudulent.
They have images on their website of happy people extolling the wonderful care at Novant. The websites are whitewashes of reality. I have been waiting almost 2 weeks to get an appointment with one of Novant's Primary Care clinics. I'm shunted from one phone number to another only to receive a voicemail telling me to leave my name and number with the statement that they will get back to me very soon. The truth is that they never call back. The Novant system is in disarray and Wilmington made a mistake in selling New Hanover Hospital and the system to Novant. There are only regrets. I suggest that you read the Federal government's last report in which they almost canceled the ability of the Novant hospital to care for Medicare patients.
They sick bad doctor $#*! then kiss NY $#*! go to hell drop dead you killer's they kill black people only black people
Novant Occupational Health, Hickory Branch in High Point the absolute worst service ever. The Occupational Dr, William Keller should have his license revoked. Be blatantly wrote an ineffective letter for my workman's compensation claim that was quickly rejected after he claimed he didn't know how to write it and would not rewrite it. This is my second complaint against that office and I'm sure there will be more?
Changed my appointment without informing me. Waisted my time! Very, very rude! It seems like employees must be allowed to be rude to customers. She said the mistake was not her fault and hung up on me! Called back and asked for the office manager, she hung up on me again!
I scheduled a appointment online for 7:30Am on 11/16. When I arrived a 7:10 because I respect their time, I was told by reception that my appointments was at 10am. When I told her that the only open times to make the appointment online was 7:30am. She responded with "they" changed it to 10am. She then told me that I should not have made new patient appointment online, it does weird things. I asked if new patients should not set appointments online, why would they allow it online? She said they should not allow it, but that is not her fault. I was shocked by the lack of caring. She said it was changed in mychart, but I that I did not have a mychart account (she said that's wierd) I told her the only email I received was the one confirming the appointment at 7:30am. Before going back at 10am I called the office to verify the new time. I selected appointments and spoke to a woman. Don't know her name, she hung up on me three times. I was quite annoyed by her response to all of this. She told me in a very curt manner that my appointment has been changed to January. I said it would have been nice if you let me know this! She responded with "it's not my fault!" Then accused me of being nasty and hung up on me. I tried calling her back and very calmly asked if I could speak to the office manager. She hung up on me again without a word. I was quite annoyed by all of this, but not nasty. I guess they have plenty of business, so you don't need mine.
You'll get an undisclosed "Facility Bill" from Novant approximately 30-45 days after your visit that is not covered by insurance or applied to your deductible. Essentially you're being charged $25 for the privilege of walking through the front door to see your Doctor.
Very very difficult to get an appointment. Call the number for doctor's office and a main switchboard that has to transfer. Then no one answers, have to leave a message and hope for call back. Very very frustrating to deal with!
Room never cleaned; Bathroom never cleaned no fresh towels. Trash was run over never emptied
ran over i put on gloves Friday morning and emptied trash myself. Laundry never changed until Thursday night I asked for cleaned sheets after 3 days. MINT HILL NOVANT HORRIBLE! I have pictures of the things. ALL OF THEM!
My husband had an outpatient procedure done in January of 2021. Because it was the first of the year, he had not met his deductible which was $6800. 00, which we owed the hospital. They wanted to put him on a payment plan of over 600.00/month to pay his portion. He told them he could not afford that but we would be paying them every month until it was paid. He passed away in August 2021, but I have continued to pay on this bill every month. October 2022, I get a statement from a collection agency, the first one I've received, that states "this is our final attempt to get you to pay your debt." I called the hospital and they tell me it was turned over for collection in October 2021 because we were not meeting the minimum ($600/month) they required. I called both the hospital and the collection agency and informed them I would continue to pay on this bill every month but I would be paying the hospital and not a collection company. And I will also add, the guy I talked with at Paragon (the collection agency) was rather rude. As the saying goes Novant, you can't get blood from a turnip. I will pay the amount I have been paying every month and if it isn't sufficient, I don't know what else to tell you.
I wish I had read the reviews before scheduling an appointment with Novant.
Their patient care is the worst I have ever experienced in my lifetime! My husband and I were new patients and right from the first visit had problems. They are not efficient in their follow up. I called and told them my husband's script had still not been refilled after serveral requests, and he needed it to avoid a major health problem. The messages were never give to the physician. Also, Dr. then referred my husband to a specialist claiming she could not refill the script. They then sent us letters dismissing us as patients! Very poor communication and unprofessional. We quickly found another medical group and couldn't be more pleased.
I have been a long time patient at my local health care provider. In the past year novant health bought them and our hospital and since that time real health care has become non existent. After having covid 2 years ago I have suffered lung issues according to the doctor but twice now I have contacted the doctor with ongoing issues and he tells me to schedule an appointment but when I schedule the appointment the office calls back and wants a video call instead. I did one video call and the only thing that happened was my wallet got $350 lighter. I just got my second appointment canceled even after having a negative covid test two days ago. I was with the understanding that doctors were here to treat sick people but at novant they want to do yearly checkups and charge an exuberant amount of money to your insurance and out of pocket. I made them aware that I will be seeing a real person at urgent care tomorrow.
Don't go to this office. I got told to many message questions. Lack of response, didn't listen & poor handling of situation.
I want to alert all future patients and customers... beware of any procedure where you require a stay in the hospital. Novant Health has made it clear that their med/surg ratio on their units is 7 patients per one nurse. This is pretty undo-able and really places concern. In itherwprds... you or your lived one with only get approximately 5 mins of nursing care an hour. This includes... passing meds, education, assisting to the restroom, bathing, vital signs... basically can not get done. The health system knows that this will cause a catastrophic event. They don't care because they can easily throw a nurse under the bus when something terrible happens to you or your loved one. Please... beware.
The experience I had with the emergency room recently was extremely horrible. Someone that comes in writhing with pain and lying on your floor crying should be attended to immediately! Got there at 2:30 am and stayed in waiting room until 6:00 am with excruciating pain calling out for someone to please help me. Staff walked by like I was not there. The care once I got in was no better. I will never recommend this hospital to anyone. Furthermore, I will tell anyone that will listen how horrible your hospital is.
I was told that I needed to wear a mask into the facility to have blood work done. I entered, put on the mask, and went back to the lab. There I find the technician with no mask on!
Also why the hell do you send out 6 notifications for a full panel blood work results? This is borderline harassment. 1 time will do just fine.
Answer: Because I was stupid clearly. Novant is the worst and not worth your time or money.
