I ordered two of the same trees and they both arrived in the same box. One was perfect, but the other one was ½ the size, lost leaves, and looked like it was ready to die. I sent a picture and was told "as long as it is green". Sure you can buy ½ dead plants at Lowes, however, they are discounted. I was hesitant to buy plants online, and this is exactly the reason why. I understand each plant is not exact, however, there is a huge contrast between the 2. Lesson learned: It is better to select a plant/tree from your local nursery.

Very dissatisfied. I emailed a few times and they said I got what I ordered. I sent a picture of what I ordered with the name, and they sent me the name but wrong clematis. I had to reserve it and waited to see this beautiful flower that I ordered, and it's not it at all. Customer Service is lacking. I would find another company if you're thinking about making a purchase.

Scam. Stay away
June 10, 2021

Ordered in April 2021 a tree that was "shipping Spring 2021." Spring almost over and still no tree. Made multiple attempts to contact them with no success. They don't even let you call them about existing orders, which screams "scam" to me. They will only give you a real person to talk to if you're looking for help deciding what to order. Of course they're more than happy to have their salespeople talk to you so you spend more money with them. The contact forms on their website result in no responses.

Update: I disputed the charge with my credit card company. The next day, I finally got an email from their customer service stating they were about to ship my order when they found out I had issued a stop payment on it. Sure you were. They offered to give me a full refund, in the form of a gift card, plus $10 if I dropped the dispute. Yeah, that's not happening. I have zero confidence that they'd actually honor the gift card when I try to use it, and they then hold all the power, with no ability to use the CC company for disputes. I have them the option of using a full refund to my CC. They responded that that was against their terms and conditions. Well it's against my terms and conditions to charge me for something you never sent, so they can stuff it and deal with the CC company.

STOLE MY MONEY
June 9, 2021

STOLE MY MONEY!

I bought 8 trees. First 1/2 of the order was sent with a receipt for 5 trees, but I only received 4. When I contacted them (via email because they dont pick up phones) I was told they wouldn't refund or replace the missing item, that the best they could do is give me a discount for a new purchase.

I contacted my bank to dispute the charge of the tree that wasn't sent and then contacted them to cancel my remaining order that hadn't been sent and to be refunded. They refused, saying they would not send or cancel my order and would not refund me unless I dropped my dispute with the bank for the initially unsent tree. They want me to forfeit my LEGAL RIGHT to open a dispute for unsent items or else won't give me my money back.

So now I don't have the 5th tree from the first half of the order and don't have any of the tree from the second half, and they won't cancel my order, and they won't send the items, and they won't refund my money. They are essentially STEALING the several hundred dollars of unreceived and unwanted items I paid for.

And of the 4 trees I did receive 2 died within the first couple weeks. I have planted dozens of fruit trees in my life with little to no problems and these people's trees are 50% at best when they ship them.

TERRIBLE business. DO NOT SHOP HERE

Buyer Beware
June 3, 2021

Nature Hills Nursery is the worst. The have outstanding reviews on Their website and others that I am sure the pay marketing for; but on sites that are unbiased their reviews are dismal. I purchased 2 sets of trees: dwarf lemon and lil gem magnolias( which by the way looks nothing like the previous reviewer's trees). My lemon trees were in need of revival a week after receipt: leaves were yellowing and trees did not look to be 3-5yrs as sold to be. I transplanted them in a cacti citrus soil and bigger pot; and though they are not out of the woods(it's been 2 1/2months) I am hopeful. My lil Gem Magnolias are a different story: arrived distressed and apparently with brown spot disease or fungi. I have treated with a copper solution and will continue every 7 days or so; but I am removing leaves daily and even had to treat my existing red tip photosias because the fungi had spread( though they are fine now). Due to the lack of concern and response from Nature Hills I filed a complaint with the BBB. This got a very cookie cutter response from Nature Hills and no solution. Be warned: don't believe the reviews every where; especially on their website.

May 25,2021 ordered two 3-5 year old vanilla Strawberry Hydrangeas. Order *******176. 153. 08. Immediately received email confirmation BUT they anticipated a two week delivery date. As i had landscapers scheduled I couldn't wait and within one hour of placing my order I cancelled. This was no easy feat and ended up calling the store directly and spoke with Bill who said he would send an immediate email to the man that prepares the plants for shipment to cancel this order. Which he did while I was on the phone. Looks like this email just alerted the nursery that I had cancelled and the order was immediately sent out that very day. I then received an email that no cancellation as order had already shipped! The order promptly arrived but was obviously hastily wrapped as all the dirt was out of one tree and the plastic pots couldn't be taken out of shipping box as they were stapled to the box! The worst part is that these " 3-5 year old plants" weren't even 12 inches tall! I went to A local nursery and their 3-5 year old vanilla Strawberry hydrangeas were nearly 4 feet tall and same price that I paid for these inferior misrepresented plants. I find this company to be unethical and misrepresenting their plants. I would tell everyone I know to NEVER EVER order from Nursery Hill nursery.

I bought a Japanese Maple, their site said it grows in my zone (zone 9). When I received the tree the tag said zone 8. I contacted Nature Hills immediately, asked if the correct tree had been shipped. I sent pictures of the tree and the tag. They assured me the tree is for zone 9, and the tags are sometimes incorrect. I planted the tree. The tree has been in the ground about 10 days, it is sunburnt, and drying. The tree has been planted properly, watered properly, in soil where other plants grow. I sent pictures of the leaves, and asked for a refund because they either sent me the wrong tree or their site information is incorrect. I have not heard back from them. My pictures and my receipt will not upload.

I ordered 2 Little Gem Trees. Arrival of the same was late but they were in great condition. The packaging was awesome. The soil the trees had was very good soil. I order one 2-3 ft. And one 4-5 ft.

Both trees are thriving and flowers have bloomed so beautifully & fragrantly. Pricing is amazing and does not compare to my local nurseries. Nature Hills's customer service was helpful.

I am thrilled with Nature Hill Nursery and will definitely consider buying from them again.

I have ordered 6 ~5 foot trees (Chinese Wisteria, 2 Autumn Blaze Maples, two apple trees, and a peach tree) and 3 12" butterfly bushes total between 2 orders and each time the plants arrived here in very sturdy boxes and in great health, although there were many fallen leaves in the boxes and we had a cold spell right after I planted the trees. They have come back this spring in fantastic health even after an April killing frost ruined their small leaves. The bushes took a long time to be delivered, but I assume that was because of below 0 temps. No complaints on shipping. I am completely satisfied and plan to continue ordering from Nature Hills (when bargains appear).

First the good thing about their trees. The roots all came wet and viable including root stock. However out of the five trees five trees, two of them came with kinked trunks near the bottom. I can live with that. Some of the trees came in a reasonable time. The last tree came so wilted I wasn't sure I could nurse it back. After about a week and a half it began coming back. It came so late that we asked before they shipped for a refund and to cancel that part of our order. They refused as they said it had already been packaged for shipping. Okay I understood that. A week and half later it came and as I said it was wilted I assume because of the heat since they waited until mid May to send it and I live in Kentucky. After the leaves began to come back I noticed that they did not appear to be apple leaves as you would expect to see on a Gala apple tree. I took pictures and sent that to my brother in Northern Michigan because he owns an apple orchard. He said it didn't look like any apple leaf that he had ever seen. I told him that I forgot to take the green tag off of the tree and after I sent the picture I went out and retrieved it. It was marked as Elberta Freestone which is a peach tree. After seeing that I realized it did look like Peach leaves. I contacted my brother again and he agreed it appeared to be Peach leaves but again said it definitely was not a Gala apple and in his opinion could not be any type of apple tree. I sent pictures of the leaves and the tag and explained all of the above. They wrote back and said sometimes the trees are tagged wrong but that the tree is definitely a Gala Apple tree. They refused to refund that part of my order for the second time. Apparently they do not have an employee there that can tell the difference between an apple tree and a peach tree. I will never order from this company again. The roots were good but the trunks were bent and the customer service is absolutely rotten.

This has to be the worst plant nursery experience of a lifetime. They sell tiny seedlings for the same price as brick and mortar nurseries sell for established potted plants.

Half of my purchase died within the first year. Adding insult to injury, you have to pay for replacements and shipping! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM

Delivered plants that die, same issue as others
February 15, 2021

Purchased 2 Japanese maple trees at $82 a piece. One immediately died upon receipt. Leaves were curling in when I took it out of the box. Followed instructions from customer service to pot it and try and save it. Asked for a replacement and told "you would need to pay $ 44.98,1/2 cost of the plant that died, plus 24.95 shipping costs at a total of $69.93." So it seems the customer is responsible for being delivered an essentially dead tree and then expected to pay $12 less for a replacement.

I emailed the merchant to request a refund for the reasons below and they declined. I offered to accept a partial refund (see email below), but they did not reply. I was forced to file a dispute with PayPal.

* The plant arrived damaged
* The plant was loose inside the box and the box showed some damage
* The photo on the website is not an accurate portrayal of the plant received
* It was considerably smaller than what was expected

12/06: "I'm dismayed with your unwillingness to make this right. I'm not happy with the plant, period, for the reasons I've detailed previously. To save us both the aggravations I would consider a partial refund, but would much prefer a return and full refund. If we can't come to an amicable solution by the end of next week I'll return the plant on 12/19 and dispute the charges with PayPal. Please advise."

North Texas has extreme weather. A lot of plants have died in transit on other orders. Texas heat can quickly kill a plant sitting in a truck. We also have occasional cold spells in Autumn. Nature Hills sent healthy plant, no broken branches.
