They Stink
June 19, 2021

My mortgage was taken over by Mr. Cooper. I wanted to move from a 30 year to a 15 year mortgage. We are now 91 days in and they still do not have the paperwork complete. Turn and run, run fast.

This is the worst mortgage company I have ever dealt with. After jumping through endless hoops just to get them to process a repair check requiring their endorsement and being told they will only send a partial amount, Mr Cooper lost the check in the mail room that was meant to be mailed out me. They will not send me a replacement check and now I am stuck not being able to live in my house since Feb 15.

Mr Cooper does not care about my situation or the fact that they are a big contributor to me not being able to repair my house while my family and I (wife 6 months pregnant) have to live with Family and friends for months. All Mr Cooper care about is that I send them a monthly mortgage payment for a house we don't currently live in and they won't let me fix.

After a week finally received a call back from Victor and he wanted to know what the problems were. I told him I wanted closing costs fees and the interest rate to be lower that day! He proceeded to get agitated on phone and arguing over things. So I told him just pull our loan application. We would take our business else where. He said well you will be sorry for this. Terrible customer service, would not refinance with these people, very rude! We found better service elsewhere and better service and interest rate! Happy Now! AZ

Worst customer service I've ever experienced including flat out lying to me about refinancing steps. They should be reported to BBB- I've never done this before but if it is a pain I may learn how anyways just to help prevent other people from having to go through this.

May 5, 2021

They did not disclose that I would be charged over $6,200 to refinance a $28,200 mortgage. I was originally told it would be around $3,100. Although, I did not get that in writing. That's an insane charge given my mortgage balance.

MrCooper
April 30, 2021

This is the worse company I deal. I was under forbearance program with them, at the end did the loan modification and while I was doing the loan modification I sold the house. They never reported to my credit but behind my back and illegal reported my house as Pre Foreclosure. Which I would never found out until I decided to buy a new home and the underwriter denied the loan due to an false statement from MrCooper. You call the escalation team and they ask you to submit an email to *******@mrcooper.com and ask for 48 hrs. I submitted all evidence that I was covered by forbearance and agreed with them and they still damage my name making me lose thousands of dollars and getting the loan denied. Make sure you are covered with this poor company bad service. They is a setor call Escalation but the problem does not get sorted and they do not escalate anything to manage. Run away from this company I am giving all evidence to a lawyer and news to show what this company does to all Clients

Entered the forbearance program and when it was complete I did not agree to their offer of 40 years at 7.75% and now I am in default, They keep telling me not to make a payment until they complete their paperwork 4 months now and that keeps putting me further behind. I have never had a late pay in 17 years and now they will now threaten foreclosure. I AM LOST and do not know where to look for an attorney

Today on April 24 2021 I cought Mr Cooper making an unauthorized double mortgage withdrawal from my Chase Bank account. (My normal payment went out 8 day prior to this day)
The Chase branch near me that I went to to report this fraud attempt had two other Chase customers with the same issue with Mr Cooper. So far no one is answering at Mr Coopers customer service number.
To be fair the next day I received an email from Mr Cooper that they were aware of the problem and the money was returned by Monday April 26.
I wonder how big was this "glitch". How many people had this happen to them? How many may have had their debit card declined during this time?

This company will literally clean your bank account out and skip town. They did this exact thing to me and now their customer service will not even pick up the phone. They literally bank drafted my mortgage 4 times in one night and cleaned my account out. Now they won't even pick up the phone.

Unreliable
April 20, 2021

My experience with Mr Cooper is very unpleasant. Lately by the grace of God I have been sending additional payments to my principal. First I pay my due for the month, then send additional money with clear instructions: "principal only". Every single time I have made an extra, I had to waste 30 to 45 minutes on the phone to have the payment reversed because they would take interest out of it. That includes a payment that I made today 4/19/2021 over the phone with one of their agent (principal only). The first time I thought it was a mistake but after the 4th/5th time, it is no mistake. Keep your eyes wide open on your loan... and as soon as you can, move it to a decent bank.

I only gave them one star because it wont let me give them no stars. Mr. Cooper has no customer service. I have talked with 7 people to try to get a payoff number, I have been given different info from each. I was even told by a manager that my info would be ready on Thursday, but on Friday I am told the process just started on Thursday and it would be 4-5 more days.and of course I cant talk with that manager any more, would not even return my call from the direct line she gave me to contact her.

What a surprise! A failed (mortgage) company (with horrible ratings) changes its name, in this case from Nationstar to Mr. Cooper. They were lying cheats before and now they continue these practices. I am fortunate enough to be able to make my monthly payments and I also try to pay down the principal. However, every time I make extra payments toward principal, Mr. Cooper insists on misapplying the funds. This has happened each month for the last 6 months or so. Rats like this in the mortgage business that exist only to suck money out of consumers and that use illegal methods to do so need to be sanctioned and eliminated. Nationstar changed its name, but $$h! Tt can change its name, too, but it doesn't eliminate the stench. Most employees (of Mr. Cooper) that I talk to (I have to talk with them because Mr. Cooper continually misappropriates my payments) are reasonable and pleasant. It's sad that they have to defend such a corrupt parent corporation. Finally, they seem to be a secondary mortgage company (they buy up what you sign at the beginning). A solution is that mortgagors should have the option to preclude lying and manipulating companies such as Mr. Cooper from ever buying their loans. As a mortgagor, one should be able to block a servicer like that.

I am in the process of selling my home (scheduled to close on 4/1/21). For 3 weeks now, I have been trying to get open liens canceled. We should only have 1 active lien with Mr Cooper, however they have screwed up both refinances and recorded multiple times with my county. We have 2 liens that should not be open, and no one seems to want to help. I have emailed for 3 weeks straight. I have called over 50 times. All they have sent me is a recorded release which is the one I already have. I have asked them to research the records so they can see the liens that still need to be recorded as satisfied. They will not do it. I have attached the deeds of trust that are open,, and they are ignoring those files and just sending what they already have as satisfied. I am running out of options, as I cannot sell my home with multiple liens. Since they messed this up, and will not update the records and cancel the remaining duplicate liens, we are in jeopardy of losing our buyers, and in breech of contract. This has become more than frustrating as it is now putting my family and sale in jeopardy, and we have to sell this home, to complete the purchase of the new one.

As long as you're never late it's fine. Was late during the Texas winter storm; electricity went out a LOT with hit or miss internet access when it was on. Called and explained, she was nice, said oh, no problem. So they tacked a late charge to March.

Pretty terrible customer service. Refused to pay taxes from escrow and, after 3 months of trying to get a response from Mr. Cooper, I just paid out of pocket. They also stuck me with all the late fees. Morons actually sent me a refund check for my escrow over payment. Terrible company that has an apparently completely automated system they cant do anything about.

This company is just terrible with terrible service. They are a mortgage company but the people who work there don't seem to understand basics of how mortgages work or how to execute simple mortgage transactions. When you ask them questions, they simply ignore you.

I refinanced with Quicken Mortgage (now know as Rocket Mortgage) who took only one of my payments before assigning me over to Mr. Cooper. Mr Cooper's automated phone payments system apparently did not record all twelve digits of my bank account number (to be used) on my first payment, but gave me a confirmation number for the payment. So i got a $25 rejection fee when they tried to get payment from my bank with the partial account number. Then, i had to pay extra (instead of a $14 fee for using the automated phone system), it cost me $19 to talk to a live body to get it straightened out. The Mr. Cooper employee said she would escalate the issue (send it to her superiors) to get the fee reversed. This is not a good start. I'm not recommending Mr. Cooper to anyone.

Terrible company
March 6, 2021

My mortgage was just sold to Mr. Cooper. I made my first loan payment. It was due on 3/1. The check cleared my bank on 3/1. But the company has yet to post it to my account! It keeps telling me that my loan payment is past due, when it is not. There is never any customer service available. When I tried calling, it is an automated service trying to sell me something!

Terrible Service!
March 5, 2021

My mortgage sold to Mr. Cooper in April 2017 and just learned 30 days ago that my mortgage payment has not been turned into any of the credit reporting agencies this entire time! Never missed a payment. Was told it would be resolved and it hasn't been. Now I call back in today and the, "escalation department", says it will be turned in at the end of March! Great service, not! Asked for a written verification of mortgage 30 days ago to make sure they are going to report it correctly and got nothing! Stay away or refinance away from them, total joke.
