Can you give a zero star Rating?

I feel swindled!

I tried to take advantage of their free trial period as I needed to send one fax only. Despite many attempts to cancel and obtain a refund, I have now paid $40USD to send the one fax that was supposed to be free. I finally have a confirmation number of my subscription cancellation, so my fingers are crossed that this time it will stick.

It's hard to cancel your subscription like you have to talk to a representative. Also, they don't send you any communication before charging your bank account. They operate in such a scammy way. I will not use it again and don't recommend it!

I've used this service for about 15 years, and have loved it--until we had to install the SPF, and it
Would not send a fax without it.
It called for knowing my domain, or server, and I just use a common (although standard business) microsoft outlook email. Most of us don't know our demain name or server. Now, I'm not sure if I did it correctly. Is there any way to tell? Other than that, it has been a terrific service for my business. I could fax from anywhere and receive anywhere in or out of the country. It was very reasonable for the application, and I hope I can use it again.

No support at all. None. No human beings. No response to emails. No phone number to call. All of my faxes have been failing for SPF reasons. They have standard answers that are not answers at all. I paid an IT company to research and they found a valid SPF file. I went through my email service and they said the same. I emailed metrofax at least 3 times in the last 3 weeks. Just automated responses. I tried to chat with a human on their website and they are NOT in America, may not be a human at all. The chat bot made me enter my name, fax number, email address and phone number, not once, not twice but 3 times! And still no help but cut and pasted info about SPF errors. No human assistance at all. I sent them the IT email and response from my email service and they told me to check with my email carrier, completely ignoring the email response that I just gave them! Horrible. RUN, do not walk. Get out and don't use this company. They will NOT serve you and your business. Absolutely the worst. When I told them I was going to find a new service, they just ended the chat. They didn't care.

I cancelled my account within the free trial. The fax I needed it for and used it for worked just fine. I contacted the company to cancel the service prior to the trial ending, instead of cancelling it they sent me a template email informing me of the process within the dashboard. I followed the process exactly. There is no confirmation number, it only vauguely states that they are working on it. I happen to see this company on my credit card bill, looks like they have been charging me for months even though I cancelled. Spoke to them today, along with the same process of email and dashboard. Same non-confirmation message. The chat agent did nothing to help, and stated that they could not refund me as it was an active service. I explained that I cancelled months ago, to which they would not and did not help or offer any sort of support for the scamming me out of $40. Shady shady shady.

Fax down - No Customer support!
July 3, 2021

I was alerted by a client that his fax could not go through. I tried with my landline fax, and it did not go through. Tried to call customer service (had to search Internet for a number) and got a recording, "Telephone customer service is no longer available." Long holiday weekend and nothing I can do until Tuesday - outrageous! I am obviously switching companies first thing Tuesday.

The other negative reviews on this company deceptively preventing service cancelation are true. There seems that nobody is available to call directly to stop a service I no longer require. The online site will not allow you to cancel until they allegedly wait for a final payment. Very predatory practice. I will be filing an official complaint through the State Attorney for credit card fraud activities since they force repetitive payments without a timely and responsive customer support mechanism. Customers are unnecessarily paying for a product they cannot opt out of.

No phone support!

Anyone who thinks that they can have a service business with NO PHONE SUPPORT is crazy. I waited for 'Chat' for half an hour before it hung up on me. My issue is technical and there is no option on their email issues options to allow me to communicate the problem.

I have used this service for a few years. This year there was no notice of renewal - just a charge to my credit card. I contacted them and to communicate with online chat. Their customer service rep cancelled my service per my request. However they failed to tell me they had a "no refund" policy. I looked for the credit on my credit card statement and did not see it. I then initiated another chat and was told of their "no refund" policy, so I asked to either give me a refund or reinstate my service. They said they could not reinstate the service but would ask the finance department if they would be willing to give me a refund. So far no further communication from MetroFax and I am out $79 and without any service. Do not do business with this company.

It's a scam

I subscribed last month for the 7 days trial, I sent 3 faxes that I got confirmation they were sent but never received on the other end so I canceled the trial period few days before expiration but I still got charged. No life person to talk to

It was confusing to use, I couldn't view what I faxed. It was supposed to be a free trial now they won't let me cancel unless I pay them 10 dollars. I think I sent three faxes and tried to cancel in less than a week.

My company is changing email domains and I updated my email address on my account page in MetroFax who I've had for more then 7 years. I tried sending a fax and got an error. I called Customer Service and after 30 minutes on hold I spoke to an offshore rep (India based). She kept telling me she didn't know what to do - to wait and see when I could receive a fax. I asked her to transfer me to a supervisor and she stated that she coulnd't do that because she's workign from home all the time she was making weird noises and popping something. We are a company that heavily relies on fax usage and receipts. I asked her if anyone would get back to me and she said "I DON'T KNOW how about you be patient?" Are you kidding me!?

I have had a fax line for almost 3 years now. It's been relatively problem free in that period of time, but the troubles came when it was time to cancel - following their FAQ to cancel the account from login, brought up a screen that says I needed to chat with a representative. Sounds easy enough - except no chat boxes open up. Tried a difference browser, same thing. Tried emailing *******@metrofax.com - I get a canned message back. Tried calling their support number (on the credit card bill), it's been removed and it's just a recording, asking you to get into the chat. Emailed again saying I couldn't get in the chat, and got the same canned message back. I finally opened the link through my phone and the chat window pops up! I was first in line, and after 25 minutes of waiting, I'm almost about to give up and someone comes on!

Bottom line is, if part of their business model is to make it so difficult you to get support that you give up on cancelling your account, be careful giving them a credit card that has an expiry date far into the future.

Unfair annual renewal
February 16, 2021

I subscribed for one year and barely used the service. When they processed one year renewal next time, I canceled the service within two weeks and asked for a refund. They denied my refund. I would understand if they had pro rated the charges, but keeping a one year cost for less than one month of use is totally unfair! I do not recommend this service to anyone! Don't like companies that are not fair to customers.

Awful customer service
February 5, 2021

My company has a number of accounts with them, a few with credits that I tried to apply to open balances. I was told I couldn't, so I asked that a check be sent to me for the accounts with credits and was told they couldn't. But yet when I asked what happens to the credits when we close our account I was told they would refund the amount. I received notices of discontinuation of service via email with a phone number in the body of the email, but when you call it there is a message that they don't offer phone support! I went back and forth with customer service and was basically hung up on in the chat. This has gone on for a couple of months with me emailing and using the chat function. I can't wait until we cancel our service.

Thankfully this group could not respond to simple chat questions - just ghosted me and then another agent would pop on and ghost me. I was leery of signing up with a company that couldn't seem to answer basic questions for a prospective client. That led me to this review page where my suspicions have been confirmed.
