Representatives don't know what they're doing I even drove across the city to view an apartment as scheduled, it was already rented, and nobody told me.

Mainstreet is a horrible company who does not care about their tenants or employees. Units are not properly cleaned before move in. Heat and water are turned off with zero notice on a regular basis. Washers and dryers are almost always broken. I've seen homeless people stealing people's clothes from laundry room. Taps are separate, so no warm water, only hot or cold. Dirty water. Promised a parking space and never received one. Harassed repeatedly for a $50 late rent fee. Buzzers don't work. Door hinges are broken so doors slam. Smoke detector in the hallway has been beeping for a week and despite repeated attempts to have the batteries changed, no one has come. They don't care about you. 445 3rd Avenue North.

This place is the worst you will ever see. I was warned by the reviews and I didn't listen and we are paying for it now. I say homelessness is better because we practically live with them! There are multiple of them in the porch smoking crack, shooting drugs into them when children are playing AROUND them. This place always stinks. Management lies to you and tries to take more of your money by not stating legal information. They don't have cameras so they are not responsible for crime. They don't answer you when you say something is broken and needs replacing. We had an emergency where everyone elses NASTY water was shooting out of our sink for HOURS. We had to grab buckets and pour it off our balcony and run back so it didn't flow onto our floor. That water STINKED. No one answered us for 2 hours! Our bathroom ceiling is caving in, and the pigeons are so gross. We pay for a balcony we cant even sit out on. People steal, and are very very loud. There are only 2 washers for 40 tenants. And they don't work half the time. Our rent is over 1500 a month for living in a sewer. Never ever rent form them. You WILL regret it, and you will end up breaking the lease. Being on the street is better than living in these apartments.

I live in a Mainstreet building in downtown Calgary and I absolutely love it. Great building, close to everything, quiet. One thing to remember about these reviews: people make the building as much as the management, and most people don't know when to call 911 and when to call the landlord.

I moved from British Columbia beginning of August to have a new start with my daughter once I arrived and was accompanied to the first apartment where I seen two huge cockroaches on the walls i was shocked becuase ive never seen $#*! roaches before so then I was shown another apartment across the parkinglot did a walk thru but needed use the washroom while doing so i seen a redish brown bug on the wall was exhausted & overwhelmed from the move so I told the land lady Kimberly Tate and she went in to look siad it was a spider so I didn't think much of it took the apartment even tho it wasn't clean from the previous tenants ect. The maintenance came the next morning cleaned what the could... during the first week I started spotting small beetle like bugs so I took pictures scanned them ect found out they were baby roaches the following week I began to find bigger roaches redish brown wich made me realize Kimberly lied about the insect I seen the first inside the apartment the first day I've bin in contact withe regional manager in regards to the cockroaches twice the first time he siad he would get the apartment fumigated that day so i went out and waited to go home once i got home that evening i continued to find roaches the second time was over the phone where he was quiet rude speaking over me raising his voice cutting me off since then its bin 2 weeks with no notices communication no follow up fumigation I highly suggest stay away from mainstreet equity Corp

I rented an apartment for a year with Mainstreet.It was the worst year of my life.The fire alarms where always going off.The homeless were always breaking into the building doing heavy drugs and sleeping everywhere.It was infested with cockroaches.Someone was always breaking into mailboxes.All they cared about was the money.They didn't do anything they promised.The parking lot had major holes in the pavement.They didn't even clean it in the winter.I could go on and on.I was embarrassed to live there and definitely felt
Very unsafe.You where the one that had to phone the police for anything happening illegal happening in the building.They had no one living in the building and had no security to get the homeless out,or make sure people are following the rules.Thank god I am out of that nightmare.

Still waiting to have an appointment 2 months after... They tell you to contact only one person in mainstreet to not ending dealing with multiple people in the company at the same time.
If I had waited for them, I would probably be sleeping on the street right now...

Lived in village acres for almost a year but had to break the lease as the management was not fulfilling their side,the place is so rundown and no one there that cares.First off the cockroaches are everywhere and the black mold from upper bathrooms leaking,the heat works some time and the mailboxes are continually broken open,the washer and dryer don't work half the time,the so called managers are never around and they change regularly.these buildings should be condemned but the repaint it and put some flooring down to hide things and once you're in there you soon see the nightmare.living in a barn would be cleaner and when you move out they want ridiculous amounts of money for the so called damages,stay away from these properties

They absolutely don't care for the tenants here and they don't answer the phone when I call them to complain about the laundry room.
I renewed my card only to find out that doesn't work for the building that I am in and the damn machine wants me to buy another one, that doesn't work at all either.
I am getting more and more mad it seems like it is to me that that when the rent is a little late then the cockroaches knock on the door!
I wished that I would of known about how they run things around here is a total headache and I don't suggest that you move in by the meadow green area!
The manager is incompetent at her work and doesn't give a $#*! about anything it seems like.
Ya they put people like that in charge here another thing is you'll never have privacy when moving in this area the people around here are very nosy all rigged up with cameras and microphones I didn't plan on getting a place like this but I am looking for a good lawyer and taking legal action against the company and to whoever is spying on me.
I pay for the rent and I didn't expect to have a place and feel uncomfortable living in it!

Had issues since I moved to their apartments. Buildings are not cared for. Water leaks are everywhere. No safety in the buildings and cameras/ smoke alarm's don't work. Contacted management and tell to contact the next hoop and it never ends. Most managers stay 3-4 months but the issues stay forever. I would not recommend anyone getting into these units. Rent is cheap and the reason is the never ending issues. While visiting their offices for reoccurring issues I noticed that everyone in these buildings is going through same issues. Water issues are common and someone told me that he has been waiting for a year to get a fix. Another resident informed that they want to move as the building got bed bugs and she had a toddler with bug bites all over. Living conditions in almost every mainstreet building is horrible. One of the managers told me to not contact them for issues as they are really busy. So I contacted the rental board instead. I was shocked to see that there is no responsible contact in the whole company. Managers have no experience and enter your unit without notice and never do the safety repairs and maintenance. I had a lesson for life. Hopefully this review would help someone in the future. I can't even count the number of issues I experienced in these buildings. I was new to the city and got it booked online. A work friend laughed at me because these apartments are known for being the worst in country. I don't have any words to describe this. 'Horrible' would be too good of a word to describe.

The advertisement lies. Almost every word. I determined that first responders do not get a discount, the advertisement price is a lie and they don't even clean the dead bugs on the floor before showing you the apartments

Do NOT stay at 314 Broadway Ave in Winnipeg with Mainstreet Equity Corp! This company is horrible! The apartment units are freshly painted, with beautiful high ceilings, and nice hardwood floors which are only but a cover to the bugs that have infested the entire building. I have been living in this building for 4 months, they have sprayed my unit twice already, but the bugs are no were to be exterminated due to the fact that the whole building is infested with bedbugs and cokroaches! The building manager is very unprofessional, will give only but empty promises, and does not follow up on things when she says she will. Do not rent from this company! You will regret it as much as I have!

Don't even waste your resources in this dungeon called apartment. Infested with bugs. The whole place is fallen apart due to poor maintenance

The management is unresponsive to any and all requests and extremely rude when you call. They have a new resident manager every month. This is not even the worst of it... please read on.

The buildings... (pics included) are not well kept, they have extreme bug problems with roaches and bed bugs, etc. The 5 other suites on our floor alone have collectively been fumigated approx. 20 times in the 8 months we have lived at this building, not even counting the floors below us. The "secured" entrance is a joke, we literally have homeless people who sleep in the entrance and do drugs/graffiti on the walls. Granted, Mainstreet does try to scrub off the graffiti but that's about all they do about it.

There is a lady who vacuums the hallways and that is ALL the cleaning that gets done. There's even a gigantic hole in the wall of the laundry room that has been there since before we moved in April 2017. Plus the dryers (washers and dryers are EXPENSIVE) leave your clothes sopping wet, and the washers smell moldy. We don't even do our laundry at home anymore.

If you go see one of these apartments and think "it doesn't seem that bad" you are wrong. They will clean it just enough so it looks ok in a showing, then you'll move in and notice it's falling apart and things are crawling in the walls. You'll call them, thinking "well, they must be able to help with this, I JUST moved in." but no, they will tell you that it's basically not their problem, they will constantly refer you back to your resident manager who constantly refers you back to the office. Nothing will get done, you will be stuck in your lease, and if you try to leave, they will come after you for every penny.

Even if your suite is in alright condition, which ours is, the doors are crooked/falling off the hinges, 2 out of 4 stove elements haven't worked since we moved in, and this winter there is 2-inch thick ice on all our windows and it's FREEZING. The heat is technically "working" but honestly each one of these buildings should be condemned.

When they do come into the building, it's for their own purposes and the don't even post accurate notices. They will post a notice that says Friday between 9-5 and show up on Thursday at 3. Or they post a notice and don't even show up.

There were 2 long weekends (Good Friday, and again at Thanksgiving) where there was no hot water in the entire building for 4+ days. We called them Friday and Saturday and they told us "no hot water is not considered an emergency so someone will be there after the long weekend." They didn't even come on the Tuesday, but the Wednesday after the long weekend. Your safety and comfort as a tenant is their absolute LAST priority.

Just as an example, we had OUR OWN CAR towed from our parking stall because it had no plate for literally like 3 days. We later called to have an unauthorized vehicle removed from our spot and they would not help. SELF-SERVING AND UNHELPFUL!

I am personally offended by how Mainstreet treats their tenants. It is the WORST company I've dealt with.

As you can imagine with management this poor, their screening process is honestly non-existent. Anyone can live in these buildings, they are NOT family friendly, and they are not safe. There is a suite down the hall with at least 8 tenants (1-3 bdrms) These apartment buildings are the SLUMS of Edmonton.

If you want a safe, clean, bug-free place to live, DO NOT RENT HERE.

If you want a responsive, reasonable landlord, DO NOT RENT HERE.

If you want fair rent for what you are getting, DO NOT RENT HERE.

IGNORE THE MAINSTREET EMPLOYEE WHO GOES ON AND ARGUES WITH THE REVIEWS - LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE POSTING THESE REVIEWS, THEY HAVE NOTHING TO GAIN!

Please, if you respect yourself and the people you live with, STAY FAR, FAR AWAY FROM MAINSTREET EQUITY.
