Purchased an iPhone 13 Pro Max. It was described as being in "Very Good Condition" - Not exactly sure what "Very Good Condition" means in their terms but the front screen is filled with deep scratches. My 2-year-old phones look much better compared with this abused phone that they have sent. When I opened the package I first noticed the scratches. Now, I can't even turn it on so I basically bought a paperweight for almost $900. I called their customer service reps to see if I could return the phone. After about an hour of time wasted going back and forth from their rep to their supervisor(who by the way never apparently couldn't talk to me), they said that they would accept a return while I am supposed to pay for shipping PLUS a re-stocking fee. While years ago, I had a fairly good experience with them, it seems like their management has really changed :( I would NEVER buy another product from this company EVER again and I would DEFINITELY NOT recommend this company to anyone.
I BOUGHT AN ITEM THAT ADVERTISED AS "APPLE PRODUCT' IT WAS NOT! MADE IN CHINA FAKE ITEM. THEY WONT RETURN IT.
They sell you open box stuff saying it's new. Comes with no additional accessories new stuff is supposed to come with. Return policies are crap.
ZERO stars for this company. Their SSD for my 2017 MacBook Pro not only failed but also bricked my computer. The "customer service" person was rude, and argumentative, and blamed my computer for breaking their part and itself.
Then, they would not pay the shipping to return their faulty product to them.
I recommend NEVER using their products. AVOID at all costs. (because it will be you paying the cost!)
I ordered a product over a month ago, which showed 7 day delivery times. I never got it. I checked back and if I ordered again, I would get it in 7 days. I contemplated ordering it again and cancelling the previous order. I didn't, my order is going to be another 49 days. Don't deal with these guys, pure scam artists.
I have always recommended OWC to friends and family for the past 10+ years and have always experienced quality and great products. This past year I am sorry to say that it hasn't been the same. Received refurbished macs that have start up issues upon opening for first time, and then another mac with ports that are so worn that the connections fall out with the slightest pull, which is pretty much useless if you rely on your computer for professional use and can't afford drives or hardware connected to it to easily come out. On top of those issues, they believe that it is fair for the customer to pay for the shipping back to them as well as a restocking fee for an items that have issues from the start. Lastly, I received an item not too long ago that looked like it has been used already and customer service again wants us to pay for the shipping back for a replacement item that has cosmetic markings on it. It just appears like quality is not a priority anymore with this company from my experiences and it is unfortunate because they were my number one company for mac products.
OWC makes superbly engineered products, and the technical support is out of this world awesome. My experience with the products and the company has been the best possible for a decade. More than that, OWC/Macsales Support is the single best technical support organization IO have ever dealt with. Its people have uniformly been truthful, a pleasure to deal with, superbly knowledgeable about their own products, and better informed about technologies of other companies than those company's own support.
Over several years I have purchased memory modules, internal and external hard drives (HD & SSD). Delivery has been prompt and all devices have worked as advertised. I have found that their installation videos are invaluable.
Sent my order to wrong address. I messaged customer service immediately after item had shipped, but they did not respond until a week after I submitted the order saying it had already been shipped and delivered. USPS can't help me retrieve the item and neither will OWC. Trash company ran by robots with zero quality control.
Purchased a thunderbolt RAID0 enclosure last year that misleadingly suggests a three-year warranty on their website. But somehow because I bought it from B&H, (one of the premier photo/electronics retailers in the country), I only get a one-year warranty. The product was defective from the day it was delivered, but the problem went undetected until I started trying to handle large video files. What should be 600-900MB/sec write speed against my SSD array is more like 25-30MB/Sec. Not the drives, all other variables eliminated. Manufacturer admits their website warranty information is misleading, and offers me a kick-in-the-teeth 10% discount on a brand new one. Nice!
Beware!
Quality control is their biggest problem. RAM seems to work well, but external hard drives not so much.
Stay away from that shop
Charge more than advertised and dont deliver the product.
Better to buy at amazon
The charger failed BIG TIME as it was interfering even with my laptop. I thought the laptop needed repair and went to Apple AND UBreakIFitxIt. Nothing wrong with the laptop. Charger was junk. Both the Apple-unaffiliated store and Apple told me the charger was not genuine. Regardless, charger was defective.
OWC told me they would replace it under the current warranty that they would not extend but not refund me. It's not that I changed my mind or did not want a charger -- it's that they sold defective products. I asked them to restart the warranty with the replacement as if all they did was send me another defective product, what was the point. They refused and insisted that the charger was genuine, these things happen all the time... No, they don't. Even rough wear and tear, genuine Apple chargers have a life span of 3 years. Regardless, any business that won't stand behind its products, knows its selling junk. Don't waste your money.
While I have a lot of issues with Apple, I have to admit that their products last. Every Apple product I've purchased the last 20 years I still have works.
Just know, with any hiccup in ordering from this company comes a chance of terrible customer service, complete loss of money, and a couple hours of meaningless pain in the grips of customer service. For me, it's worth it to spend my money elsewhere.
I'm a long time customer, using OWC several times over the years, and telling numerous people about how I love this company.
However, after a painful 45 minute debate with customer service about how I should have called (when the phone lines were not open) instead of sending a chat message to customer service (which the website indicates is the preferred and fastest way), I gave up.
I bought a $20 product, and then as soon as I checked out, I realized it was selected to ship to an old address which was saved in my profile on the website. I immediately checked the hours for calling customer service and discovered it was after hours (weekend). I then attempted to chat with customer service online since the website said that was the fastest option. I sent a chat message and the chat service said my message was received and I would hear back from OWC.
In the message, I attempted to reroute/halt my order before it was selected to ship to the old address (4,000 miles or 1/3 of the world away). The message was sent with about a 2 day lead time before the product shipped.
When I finally connected with customer service, it was too late. The customer service agent told me I should have called the closed phone line. That logic was perused even after I supplied them with all the order details (time/date info). The agent kept saying I should have called instead of trying to use the chat system (which the website said was the fastest and preferred method).
The customer service agent told me I should contact whoever is currently living at my previous address, an apartment from 7 years ago. I stated I have no idea who that is.
After a painful 45 minute debate with a hard to rationalize with customer service agent… I realized OWC just has bad customer service - I'll pay less and get more customer service from Amazon.
What a shame, I used to love this company.

Crazy restocking fee for an unusual computer. Almost $200 restock fee is crazy. No other vendors charge this.
Really awful experience. False advertising on a ‘new' product, that was not new and that never worked. I paid for the shipping to me, shipping back and spent countless hours of my time and friends to help plus Apple that couldn't help. Then being told after the 14 day return policy. Refund a minimal amount. Left with $250+ in personal charges with a product that never worked. Shameful
Ordered $550 of parts for my Mac, they shipped it out but it never arrived. After 1 month I emailed OWC support and after many emails, they replied that I had to wait 2 months before I can file a claim. I waited two more months and asked for a refund, they ignored by emails for weeks, finally I opened a complain with the BBB and they replied that were going to give me a refund in two week. Took over 4 1/2 months to get my refund for a package they lost
Boy, did I get screwed. I bought the OWC Express USB 2.0 2.5" Enclosure + 250GB Mercury Electra 3G SSD. It arrived so late. I spent $90 CDN, and I only got back $75, minus the $20 I had to pay to ship the drive back to them. I lost almost half of what I paid for it. Worst buying experience I have ever had. I will never use them again, and I strongly urge you to stay away from this company.
My experience with OWC has been disappointing to say the least. I specifically chose a laptop with an optical drive because my elderly mother wanted that. Before purchasing I asked the customer service rep if the drive was guaranteed to work, she assured me that the entire laptop would be tested before being sent out. The computer arrives and the optical drive does not work. I send back the computer and they replace it, and ship the laptop back without sending me a notification or email. The computer arrives and sits outside the house in the rain. The only reason we knew it arrived was from the security camera footage. Luckily a trusted neighbor went to fetch the package and kept it safe until we returned. I called OWC about this and they assured me it was a one-off and would make note of it.
The computer works fine for a bit then starts beeping and crashing. I call OWC and am told the RAM is busted and needs to be replaced. How is that possible on a computer that was tested? We get the RAM replaced and again, after 2 weeks the laptop keeps restarting, crashing, and beeping. We send it back to OWC. Because I no longer trusted the company to handle this issue in a logical manner, I called regularly for updates... luckily! Because they were about to send the computer back claiming they found no issues- without even emailing me or informing me! Luckily, I had taken screenshots and videos of the computer crashing so I sent those as proof and insisted they check more thoroughly. In the end, they replaced the RAM as a courtesy and again ship the computer back without sending a notification or email! So this is a recurring issue and despite my first complaint about this, nothing has been done to rectify this major issue with their system/website.
The amount of time, hassle, and energy this purchase has cost me is unacceptable. I doubt I'd ever do business with OWC again.
If you need to buy something go to another source or buy directy from apple. The savings Other World Computing or macsales.com offer comes with a price. I bought a beats headphone, It turned out to be used, It broke in less a few days, They didnt return my money, and returned the broken item back to me. These aew DISHONEST PEOPLE. My advise pay the store price and buy something good.
