LawDepot Reviews Summary

The company enjoys a strong reputation for its user-friendly website and comprehensive document offerings, which customers find easy to navigate and understand. Many reviews highlight the affordability and efficiency of the services, with a particular emphasis on the thoroughness of the forms provided. However, some customers expressed frustration with payment processing issues, particularly the lack of support for certain credit cards, which led to additional calls for assistance. Overall, while the customer service is generally praised for its friendliness and helpfulness, addressing payment concerns could enhance the customer experience further.

Integrity all the way
February 14, 2016

I took the free trial to look at a few documents like wills. When I cancelled the free subscription trial it was one click and done. No fooling around, no complex cancellation. This is a very honest website and business, and I will use them in the future if I need legal docs.

Some action
February 12, 2016

THANKS TO SITE JABBER, an employee of law depot. Com decided to refund two of the three months that I was charged? If they had reversed all three months I would have deleted the review, I am upping my star one, but since I NEVER USED THE SITE, and I did cancel, and there is proof I NEVER USED THEIR SITE... Why did they return two of three charges? I am greatful for some action, but returning all that was stolen from me, would have been better.

As we discussed Diana, we do not monitor usage. When you select a 7 day free trial, as the offer states, it must be cancelled within 7 days or the account converts to the $33.00 monthly plan until cancelled. We state that 3 times before you can print your document and then we email you two notifications, one to remind you to cancel and one when billing starts. You are paying for access to the account to return to prepare documents at any time. We don't monitor whether you prepare 1 document or hundreds. You received the two month refund as a courtesy and the third month exceeds the refund time limit and cannot be refunded.

The site offers very basic services; however, the services aren't sufficient to fully handle an estate. Customer Service was un-helpful very dismissive.

Jeremiah, what specifically were you looking for from our website regarding estate planning documents? I can research further who you were speaking with if you provide the telephone number that you called from. Our agents are not able to provide any legal advice or opinion on what form to use or how to complete a form as that does constitute legal advice. Our documents are prepared by attorneys but we are not a practicing law firm so we cannot provide any legal consultation or advice. -Kathie Kinisky, Manager, Customer Support 1-855-231-8424

CLEAVER CHEATERS
February 1, 2016

You have options: a free week, basic one month charge($33), yearly charge($98) or if you are stupid, a continuous monthly charge to your credit card of ($33). I chose the basic one month charge. Unfortunately, I am crazy busy and I was not checking for monthly charges. I also have "unenrollme" so I was not receiving email notices. I called customer service to explain this was a mistake and since they charged me $65 over what would cost the consumer for the yearly charge, I felt they should refund my account.
The women I spoke to was rude and nonchalant. What a shame. The service was ok, however there is NO customer service. They obviously take advantage of people being too busy. Just do the math!

Sharon, I am sorry if you felt our agent was rude. That would not be by intent at all. Our records show you had selected a 7 day free trial subscription offer on August 29/15 and there was no cancellation until January 29/16 when you contacted us by chat and phone call. The offer you selected does state the need to cancel within 7 days or the account converts to the monthly plan until cancelled. If you have proof of cancellation prior to today, please forward it to us and we can review your case again. We are not able to convert past charges to a yearly subscription based on the offer you selected. When you cancel, you receive immediate confirmation on the screen and we also send an email to your inbox within moments.

Swindlers
January 28, 2016

I logged on once never used the account, and never gave it a second thought. Seven months later I realize they have been hitting my credit card every month, no receipts on invoicing nothing. Every other account I have sends me receipts every time they take a payment. These people rely on the fact that people get busy and tied up with other thing in life and just keep collecting till you notice.

Date of experience: January 25, 2016

Thanks for your comments. Our records show you selected a 7 day free trial subscription offer on June 10/15 and you did not cancel until January 25/16. As a courtesy, we have refunded the last charge that occurred on Jan 18/16. The refund does take 3-5 business days to fully process.

You created two different documents in your account and created templates for three other documents.

When you select the license to print, you can choose three different options. The 7 day free trial offer does clearly state the need to cancel within 7 days or the account converts to the monthly plan until cancelled. The credit card page recaps the same information as does the receipt page. Immediately after the license selection, we send you an email which also recaps the terms of use and the date and time to cancel by appears in bold print. We also send an email on the first day of billing. You receive your monthly bank statements to view all charges occurring in your various accounts or you have instant online access.

We provide a one time charge Basic license option which you could have selected instead of the free trial. If you select the free trial, ensure you comply with the terms of the offer you are selecting.

John, Thanks for your comments. I'm glad Allison was able to assist you. Just to clarify, we never change a customer's email address, in fact, we don't have access to do that at all. Whatever you entered at the time you completed the Incorporation request forms is the email address your correspondence will be sent to. We will be working to improve call back protocols so thanks for that feedback.

Basically a scam
January 5, 2016

I paid my membership fee and then discovered that:
1) Their forms and support do not cover my state. Not sure how you can find this out ahead of time.
2) You cannot download ANY blank forms... the main reason I signed uo.
3) After I went thru thru the process of filling out the forms online and tried to print them out I discovered that you cannot do this unless you either pay more money or sign up for a free trial... yeah, one of those "FREE" trials (7days) that charges you $33/mo after that if you don't cancle.
You would be better off with a slimey, overpriced lawyer!

Date of experience: January 2, 2016
Cynthia S. — LawDepot Rep

Blank forms are not typically provided as you need to answer questions in the template in order to add clauses to the document you are preparing. If you are preparing a lease for example, you can leave the date, rental amount and names blank and a blank line will be inserted. However, other questions need to be answered so the lease contains the correct information regarding many other clauses. The document may also need specific clauses that are state specific.

You had selected a Basic two week license to access loan agreements on April 27/15. After two weeks, that license expired as it outlines when you selected that option. I believe you were looking for specific deed documents this time which we did not carry on our website. You can see our complete list of documents by clicking the ALL category which appears on the top right hand side of the webpage. You can review the list of documents, click on them and review the question template to see if the document will work for your personal situation. We do not carry all documents for all situations but we do have a wide assortment.

A Basic license provides two week access to one document type and after two weeks, the access to documents automatically expires. The Basic license does not provide unlimited access to a document or documents. Customers can select from three license options: 1) one year Pro license for $95.88 which provides access to any documents for 12 months. 2) Basic which provides two week access to one document type and after two weeks, access expires and 3) one week free trial subscription. This option allows access to all documents for 7 days and this option requires cancellation within 7 days or it converts to the monthly $33.00 plan until cancelled. Cancelling can be easily done online or by calling Customer Support. All of these options are explained on the license selection page and we also send an email within a few minutes confirming your choice once you complete check out.

Rip off!
December 30, 2015

When I signed up I was quoted a free 30 day trial. I canceled after 8 days, received an email that I canceled and would not be charged... then was charged $33. I disputed it with my credit card company and they removed the charge. DO NOT give them your credit card number! Go somewhere else! I have not yet received the refund i was promised.

You actually selected a 7 day free trial offer as we do not have a 30 day free trial. The offer, receipt and follow-up email all state the 7 day free trial details and the receipt and email also include the date and time to cancel by. You cancelled it one day late which resulted in the billing and when you contacted us, we issued a refund for you in the amount of $33.00. If you had cancelled on time, there would have been no charges.

My free trial turned out better than I expected. I was expecting the worst.
- My PayPal account was not charged and
- it was easy to cancel.

But I hesitated to even go with the trial as the pricing seemed like a trap:
A one-week free trial that turns into $33/month ($396/year) if you continue.
Or sign up for a One Year Pro account for $95.88 which is just $7.99/month.

It also wasn't clear if during the trial I would be able to download my document and print it easily. I was able to download in. DOC format, save to my hard drive fix a few things and then print out. I was concerned I could only print directly from the cloud.

My concerns turned out to be unnecessary and their website could explain things better.

I came close to switching to the yearly contract during the free trial, but at this time the one document was all that I need. I may sign up later and go with the yearly service.

Great feedback, thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. Your comments have been forwarded to our Marketing team for review. To clarify, if you select any of the license options including the one week free trial, you can print, edit and download documents. If you prepay for the year which is $95.88, we offer a significant discount because you are prepaying. If the 7 day free trial is cancelled within 7 days, there are no charges. If the offer is not cancelled, the option reverts to the $33.00 per month plan until cancelled and you can cancel at any time.
