From my experience, I've come to understand that "trusted users" (the people you're talking to) on LaDate may resort to using bots, literally have to spam you to keep their trusted user status, and may very well be incentivised by other means for pushing costly "features" (ranging from a single image possibly costing $10 to open to much more expensive features).
Upon examining the documentation for becoming a "trusted user" who can use the platform for free, I discovered that these users are likely to receive a lot of spam and may even engage with bots to avoid being demoted. I highly recommend looking into the process of becoming a validated user before investing any money on the site. As of now (4/10/2023), it seems that trusted users must respond to almost every message within 10 minutes and maintain a response rate of over 90%. Additionally, they are required to send icebreakers to others, which might necessitate using bots.
This might explain why some conversations appear coherent while others consist of nonsensical text, highly sexualized content, avoidance of simple questions, and promotion of exclusive posts. It is unclear whether the platform's partners provide any incentives for this behavior, but there could be a "don't ask, don't tell" situation at play.
