Kelley blue book does not serve the best interest of consumers. They appear to be in the pocket of automobile manufacturers and are not interested in the opinions and reviews of actual consumers. The site not to be trusted.
KBB is know for giving a value to used vehicles. Wanting to see what the truck I inherited from my father was worth, I thought KBB immediately. I mean who else is there?
So I found the official site and Bagan the process. After giving all the answers asked for including the VIN. Finally, the button get your vehicles value is here. I click the button and no value. I figured it hiding here somewhere. Long story short. I did the process a 2nd time with the same result. Disappointing as hell and, a complete total waist of time. At no time on that site I was made aware of a charge. I found out at the end of this review. Telling me to show proof of purchase. Hey kbb you really need to make that perfectly clear up front.
Totally misleading, dealership straight up told me that its a gimmick, just to get you in the door. Did not honor the price even though they said my car was in mint condition.
Big time waster. KBB Instant Cash Offer listed a few dealerships making offers on my car. Called the first one and of course they said "come on down". Arrived at the dealership and they said sorry we're unable to make you an offer. Wiser now after having wasted my time with the first dealer, I called the second dealership to grill them before coming out. They also decided they were not interested-which saved me from another wasted trip. A third dealer admitted that he would only honor the KBB Instant Cash Offer if the car was in "mint" condition. As best I can decipher, the KBB Instant Cash Offers were too high for them to make a profit from.

There is so much information at the site. The biggest thing it offers is an estimate about vehicle values and an explaination of what affects values. Sometimes people don't take into consideration things like reconditioning costs and maintenance history. This allows consumers to be better informed when negotiating a purchase where a trade vehicle is involved.

It's the Kelly Blue Book website, of course it is safe. It is very easy to use, but you might not like to see how much your car values :(. Very good car buying tool!
