It is an insult to the progress of higher learning that what the student body does outside of classes is a highlight of the overall college experience than anything else. I attended as a foreign exchange student in 2017, and even four years ago the majority of the local Japanese students loathed their time spent here. They claimed a lack of cultural ambition on the faculty's part. So not many events to intercultural exchange happen on campus. It is Japan on the Japanese' home turf, so the intention of opening to culture is moot. Every so often, so anytime outside of COVID, the campus regularly hosts trips to various areas of Kansai. And when this does not happen, taiko performers and interpretive dancers flood campus every season. I think the problem is is that the foreign students set an irresponsible example when they arrive. They purport that going out to izekaya and karaoke to drink obsessively is the superior college experience.
