jAlbum

JAlbum is not only the easiest and most creative way to create photo albums for the web, they also are very responsive if you run into a problem or bug.

Some 20 years ago I searched for and tried a number of applications to create web galleries. After discovering jAlbum it became my only choice and I have been using it in its various iterations since then. It is fast and it's use ranges from creating easy, simple web albums to more complex multi-category sites, depending on your level of expertise. JAlbum has great flexibility in the "look" of your final presentation through the wide variety of themes or "skins" you can apply.

I host a web page on my LAN. Anyone in my household can view our family album spanning decades on any local connected device, smart TV, mobile phone, laptop, whatever, I run a bash script nightly to pick up any changes I have made to my collection and rebuild jAlbum. Up until I found jAlbum (the "j" stands for Java), I was using several PHP-driven galleries (I have two very active photo galleries). These were all very good galleries, BUT the upkeep was killing. As soon as PHP comes on the scene, you have to spend a lot of time keeping PHP clean from release to release. Sometimes a new PHP release comes out, and a couple of features in the gallery stop working. And you now waste a ton of time trying to fix. I then discovered jAlbum. I tried out their limited free release, very much liked what I saw and purchased the full edition. JAlbum makes creating an album very much easier, and because the whole process, up to export, is on your local machine, fast and easy to change. The "skins/themes" add to the whole experience of you being able to modify the look and feel to how you want things to look and interact with your users/visitors. And very importantly, the number of photographs does not seem to be an issue. I have one album with over 25,000 photographs (the other album only has 20,000!), but I know of one user who told me he had over 45,000 photos and is still going strong. So if you would like a really professional-looking Photographic Album(s), then look no further than jAlbum, and let PHP be a thing of the past. JAlbum is easy to work with making web browsers and more advanced web sites. Various setting that can be overwhelming depending on the skin used, but once all set, it's easy to export setting to be used in future projects. If in need of assistance, their Customer Service is very fast, knowledgeable, and ready to help.

Been using JAlbum since 2005 (v5.2). Quick website generation and updates provides everything I need to share my copious number of vacation media. This allows them to be shared providing details and context that make for more of a travel log. This is the last step in processing photos for sharing but make something that could be arduous into a pretty simple and easy task.

I've used jAlbum for a decade or so to manage my photo albums. It's worked well. I've used PSE 13 for a decade to catalog, edit, and format images and would love to be able to use jAlbum to accomplish this step too. Recently, I upgraded 2 releases after obtaining an additional 25% discount in addition to the 30%. There was no real new features for what I do but I did notice a great improvement in the physical building and upload process. I really would pay additional money for an upgraded tool so I can replace my PSE 13 SW that is still working, but I fear will stop working some day in a future windows. I need robust file cateloging, tagging, and standard photo editing tools along with bulk conversion. I can only hope:-)

In 1996 I got my first digital camera and began taking and sharing photos online. As my collection grew to over a quarter of a million images, I had to switch software many times. All other solutions I tried eventually crumbled under the weight of so many times. I am glad I found Jalbum so many years ago. My galleries here so large? I had to split them up into multiple sub-sites on my server due to exceeding Linux file count limits - while Jalbum never had any such issues. Although I miss the speed and simplicity of earlier solutions I used (Jalbum takes may hours to process one of my subsections, even on an M2 Mac with 24gb RAM), having something slower that works is preferable to something faster that crashes.

It's going well but I have lost data a couple of tine. It seems fast and I di like the direct FTP upload. After apparently loosing data, I imported that which I have on my website into a new project and it was a real mess, thumbnails images in all folders. I deleted everything and started again. I will learn and improve then give you a more positive rating.

I was a user of jAlbum several years ago and once my kids got of a certain age stopped making and publishing albums. Recently I ran across some old family pictures that I scanned and wanted to share. I came back to jAlbum, updated my license, and found that making and sharing albums is even easier and SO FAST. JAlbum even restored old albums to my cloud storage from years ago. This is a great product backed by a fantastic team!

The various albums settings provided by different authors do not seem to follow a standard method of editing making for a difficult learning curve especially for beginners. Editing of various albums needs to be standardize.

I love jAlbum. I am not a pro. I build a few websites now and then. Mostly I use jAlbum for my personal projects. I've been using jAlbum for well over a decade, maybe two.

I was previously using a combination of hard coded HTML and a freeware album generator to develop my picture blog. Changes were very time consuming and managing upload locations to my hosting provider was very tedious. I stumbled upon jAlbum about 3 years ago and found it would make managing my site's content MUCH easier. It was a bit of a learning curve, but the community support was great and I was quickly able to 'migrate' my pages over and build my entire site. The features and capabilities are FAR beyond what a simple review can show. JAlbum is worth every penny!

JAlbum continually works to improve their product. Their service support when needed has been extremely helpful. JAlbum has been the best product in the market place for years and their service and documentation make jAlbum a real value.

The jAlbum people offer the best support you'll find anywhere. I upgraded jAlbum after 6 years, and something didn't work. I started a help ticket, and they got back to me within hours (on a Sunday!) and showed me how to fix the problem. I couldn't be happier.

Creating Photo Albums to share with our Family, friends and Photo Club members. Makes it so easy to create a family album for 39 family members and post the album to the JAlbum assigned space for me. I am approaching 90 years and seriously considering closing my print darkroom.

This is amazing software! Its very intuitive, and Ive had no trouble figuring it all out (tho i do have experience with web dev, css and php/sql driven sites) You can get a gallery up so fast. I have so many uses for it too! Its great that it can function as a shopping cart, allows comments, Facebook integration and even hosts videos. And the presentation is so nice, using lightbox and slideshow functionality. Ive been trying to get away from php coz of the security issues and this is a great alternative that is really secure. I wish i had this 10 yrs ago!

I have used JAlbum before to create great photo albums for my website. Its been a while but I decided to start working on my site again, and like always JAlbum has been a great tool to help.

I had several questions about my existing albums and got immediate feedback for a series of questions over 2-3 days, Each time I asked a tearoom I got an answer on the same day!

The program works well and processes images for the album quickly. The uploads to the jAlbum server is smooth and effortless. The album choices are adequate and new ones come online regularly.

JAlbum works great for me. I can publish my photos and others can easily access them. Simple to use, simple for remote publishing, and reliable.

When I have a question about how a feature works, or need a definition of a prompt, or "how do I do this" the response is accurate and timely.

I thought I was only purchasing software that runs on my PC, used to create HTML that I would then upload to my server. I think (still not sure) that I may have paid for use of jAlbum's server space which I do not need.

Service and notifications are top notch. The software is easy to use and provides a lot of flexibility.

Customer Service (technical assistance) from jAlbum in my experiences has always been perfect. Great tool; great support!

I think I may have started with JAlbum when it first came out. Great photo program for creating pages for websites.

I enjoy the simplicity and the ability to choose from 100's of different themes and updating a site is a no brainer.
