I cancelled within 72 hours and got a full refund after arguing with a staff member. He offered me 1/2 of my money back, I used the 72 hour law to get a full refund. They use false advertising to reel you in and then try to charge extra for information I was able to get on my own... Who knew that some counties and cities don't care one whit for a criminal's privacy. I hate dealing with people who don't speak English very well and, of course, I got one who couldn't understand me. Do NOT use this "service." It's horrible.
I did the search on a name under the name of that very person, and then these idiots tell me that the person I asked to do the search on will never know it!
You want to pay for that? Well, there is sucker born every minute.
FALSE ADVERTISE AS FREE TO GET EVERYONE HOOKED THAT KEEP CHARGING YOU MONEY AFTER YOU FILL OUT PERSONAL IN FO WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD...
VERY UNETHICAL-CALLING WASHINGTON DC TO REPORT THIS-WORK OUT OF A GAMBLING CASINO IN LAS VEGAS.
This site first hooks you into thinking that it is running an engine searching all databases, but once the results start popping up and you agree to pay, then it further shows you a dashboard to unlock ALLL THE OTHER INFORMATION you really want. C'mob Checkmate, when people pay you, you need to do the honorable thing and provide the information. For goodness sakes, you nickel and dime the poor people who are looking for long lost loved ones. I am a victim of your service. I hope you run out of business.
Make sure you know the charge is monthly before putting in your credit card number. We found three monthly charges for $29.63 each after requesting one lookup back in October. Requested cancellation today (12/28/2015). We'll let you know how long that takes.
So, this site didn't give me any more information than I could get on a normal search. In addition, they charge you once, and then ask for $19.00 more if you want the extended search which includes bankruptcies, etc. I did the extended charge and it turned up nothing. IN ADDITION, IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO LOOK THINGS UP. I CAN'T HELP BUT WONDER IF YOU ARE INSTALLING SPYWARE INTO YOUR COMPUTER AS THEY ARE "SEARCHING." This could be a paranoia, but there's no reason to risk it as you get no worthwhile information.
For the heck of it, I tried 2 people, myself and my Sister. For myself, it had none of my children/stepchildren, old address and old phone #, and possible relatives were mostly right, but the ones that were right were only in-laws and it didn't seem to know which one was my husband. It just did a google on me and I could easily find out more information about myself. Next, I tried my Sister, it missed her husband completely, he was not even listed and they have been married since 2007, it thought her ex-husband (who is deceased) was still her husband and had no idea he was deceased. It kept asking questions about both of us as I was doing it, I ended mine early and I ended hers early (once I saw the supposed relatives page). They have to be kidding me with this garbage... I could do a much better job on my own... this is SUCH a scam... they will never get a penny of my money.
I joined instantcheckmate.com and conducted numerous searches for friends, and not 1 search provided me with the correct phone number. A couple of the addresses were accurate, but the phone numbers were either not in service, or incorrect. I would stay away from this site. What a waste of my money.
Checkmate did supply what I asked for, but the site is confusing and I accidentally paid a premium price for a simple check. They tell you they will charge you monthly unless you cancel, and they do. Cancelling was easy, however. But I really disliked all the junk mail filling up my mailbox. They shared my name with their group lists of some kind and probably get paid for that, too. I hate that I have to unsubscribe from all that junk, and my name probably got passed around to more, that I haven't even seen yet. Grrr.
This site should be shut down. You get four day free trial and then they start charging you 29.99 a month. I got just as much information by googling my name.
You never once said I had to pay for service then at the end you wanted money $#*! you I hope everyone sees this $#*! YOU!
DON'T DO IT! You are misled from the very start. You won't see any information unless you pay for it. By signing up, you agree to automatically renew. Good luck with trying to cancel.
Your are required to provide personal information along the way only to find out that they will gladly take your information but you won't get anything back unless you sign up and pay for the ongoing service. Even the $1 special offer still authorizes them to bill you monthly automatically.
I wish I could have rated it as "0" stars.
Should have read the reviews first. Anything you actually would be interested in is with the "PREMIUM" service! An additional $20. Waste of time and money... don't do it!
Useless info, like the horoscope of the person, for $25. Then for anything possibly worth something is $20 more. A search on Google and White Pages will yield you BETTER info for free!
First off check mate offered a trial for a month. I signed on and found that it was wrong on all info. So i called and cancelled. Well all bills are paid by my office staff and are not always run by me... I was billed 2 yrs for a service I used and cancelled after a week. I was told sorry we will give you only $11.00 credit stay away from them...
This site should be banned! Its basically a scam! Payed $22.95 just to see an old address from 6 years ago! There's even pictures that were supposed to be of the person I was looking up but the pictures were not of this person! AFTER paying the $22.95 and only seeing the old address it says get more detailed info for only $19.95! I called And emailed to request cancellation and a full refund but they said once I viewed the report I am not entitled to a refund!... again, the Only accurate info on the "report" was the address but that's from 6 years ago! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR TIME! Yes it sounds exciting when you read the FAKE reviews that say things like "your site saved my life", "I'm greatly appreciative to you and your website... it opened my eyes"... but it is NOTHING as it advertises! Yes these are all Fake! If it wasn't only $23 I'd be suing these people right now! Don't do it!
OLD and Incomplete info, mostly from over 10 years ago, including an incorrect name. A GOOGLE search turns up 90% more info!
They charge you $24.95 for a back ground check then once you get the report it is real basic info only. You have to pay an additional $19.99 for each bit of information you need like credit and criminal information.
This website really stinks. Don't even spend a second on it. I saw the sitejabber reviews while I was going through it, and quickly caught on and didn't go on to the payment page. Thank you for saving me, everyone who posted reviews here.
Blatant false advertising, States FREE but it's not & you do not find out until its performed all of the searches
Answer: No, you can't see anyone's call log or texts. At first it was 1.98 to receive access to the report. Then once I paid the 1.98 I selected "access report" (again) then I was promoted to select a membership Lowest being 22$. Most options tell you that you're paying that amount the same day but the cheapest membership didn't say you would be paying the same day but you are. So roughly 24$ to see what you could've found on Google. When you get to the phone log part it says "you're stuck" or some bull crap probably pay more money which is unreal as you have selected a membership already. This is a rip off there's just now around it smh
Answer: Contact your credit card company, tell them that InstantCheckmate is making unauthorized charges to your card; have your credit card company cancel your card and issue you a new one. I know, it sucks. That's what I had to do. For several months I got "declined payment" indicators listed in my online credit statement, which was good, because InstantCheckmate couldn't get their fraudulent charge to go through. The police, the FBI, or FTC or somebody needs to crack down on InstantCheckmate. I guess maybe it'll take a class action lawsuit against them. But really, the wisest thing to do is to cancel your credit card, have a new one issued -- and be extremely cautious and careful from now on to whom and where you use and give your credit card number. I know, it's a pain in the a##! Good luck. Cheers.
Answer: Absolutely not worth the money they give you incomplete answers and keep charging you for additional answers. Incorrect &/or incomplete reports. Stay far away!
Answer: Appears to be feedback manipulation on consumeraffairs.com to me. Notice all of the replies from Instant Checkmate. They had no current or correct info for me other than my childrens names, which I can find easily anyplace.
Answer: I recommend watching your credit card statement for additional charges for a few months. This company is notorious for not cancelling accounts.
