Our Palermo-to-Milan rental was disappointing because of both the condition of the camper and the customer service afterwards.
The camper had a broken windshield sun blind containing an old wasp nest, poor cleaning, dirty kitchen equipment, dirt underneath the beds, no proper mattress protector and mismatched worn-looking bedding. During the trip the starting battery also failed and we had to arrange help to jump-start the vehicle.
We reported the problems during the rental, supplied photographs where possible and repeatedly contacted Indie Campers through chat, phone and at the return depot.
Despite numerous assurances that management was reviewing our compensation request, I formally followed up again on 23 July and as of 8 August still have no final decision.
The trip itself was enjoyable, but a customer should not have to spend this much time dealing with problems that should have been identified before the camper was rented out.
I joined Indie Campers' $1 relocation program and returned the vehicle on the agreed date, July 21,2025, in perfect condition. According to the contract, I should have received a USD 300 fuel refund.
Since then, I have exchanged several emails with their team — first with Ana P., then with Zuni — and each time I was told that the refund was "being processed." It's now been three months, and I still haven't received the payment or any confirmation that it was completed.
All requested documents and bank details were submitted and confirmed by their support team, yet nothing has happened. The communication has been polite, but unfortunately, it's been all promises without real action.
This long delay is very disappointing and reflects a serious lack of efficiency and accountability. I hope Indie Campers honors its commitments soon and improves its customer service so that other clients don't face the same frustration.
