This website not only takes your information and sells it for profit, but maintain your card info long after your subscription is ended through a series of trickery. After your subscription is canceled, you can attempt to receive help in deleting your account. You will receive no help, but you will get an AI chat bot repeating the same unhelpful messages. If you manage to pass this bridge troll, you then can REQUEST to have your card information deleted. I'm not sure why it doesn't get deleted with the account, but it doesn't, and special "arrangements" (their words) need to be made for that. Ones I have yet to figure out through their very unspecific and unhelpful bot. Groceries were fine, but this hassle is not worth it. Skip this one.

Great Products- Unclear Pricing

The way they set up their pricing structure with representative "points per dollar" is not very clear, and it makes it hard to know whether you are getting your money's worth each week. The products are fantastic though.

Hungryroot Honest Review: Not really worth it.
1. I did not see a savings in food costs
2. Found the sauces and dressings to be either bland and one note, or just super heavy on a particular spice/flavor. Not balanced at all, makes it less than ideal.
3. Tried several different drinks in the form of protein shakes and smoothies, I liked 1 and that was the one that was just like drinking thick orange juice.
4. The snacks are very hit in miss. Some do taste really good, some taste terrible and some based on what they are made from and taste like, while not bad, should be forced to have a name that represents it correctly. I understand, it is a substitute for something, but it has to at least taste like that thing to carry the name.
5. Sometimes the meat was not representative of the pictures. Such as flat, squished 2 ounce salmon tail or shank fillet being sent when hot smoked salmon portion (different cut, with skin on) was ordered.
6. I did like the amount of fresh'ish vegetables. It was a really good quantity. I say fresh'ish because it's pre-cut and sealed.
7. I was ok with the 2 ounce meat portions per person, my husband who works a very physical job was not.
8. I did like that there were several options to chose from in each category.
9. I did like that they have specialty diet options for plant based, gluten free etc.
10. I did like that they include recipe cards.

One of the best options

I like HungryRoot for their sauces and meat substitutes. Pumfu sounds weird but is delicious. Love the seasoned tofu! I like that you can pick the items like groceries instead of having to do the meals. I've tried many of the meal delivery companies and HungryRoot is my favorite.

I've been a Hungry Root subscriber for the last 4 months and have had a very inconsistent experience. When it works well it's a godsend; a variety of healthy, easy to cook meals that are easy to portion, arrive at my door each week. But it seems that it often does't go according to plan. With HR you subscribe for a number of meals and snacks each week. You are presented with a list of meals and given the option to change the list up until a date (3 to 6 days prior to delivery) on which the order is locked in and you are charged. HR frequently makes random substitutions of items after the order is supposed to lock, often sending random grocery items instead of a new recipe. They also occasionally try to substitute a lower value item for what was ordered (bag of spinach substituted for chicken salad). Delivery in December has been abysmal, with an order due a week before Christmas never arriving, and the next one, scheduled to arrive 10 days later, being pushed back 4 days the minute after I was charged for it. As good as the food is, the inconsistency has caused me to start looking for alternatives.
