The service is not in the level of the money taken!
They seems enjoy banning people. Even if they ban for silly reasons sometimes and without a pre warn or notice we still understand they are their guidelines! But when people are paying you money for membership and are regular customers you have to find a way to resolve the problem instead of taking their money then you close their profiles.if banning accounts with membership is that easy why giving people their money back is not easy too! I was a regular customer very active for 5 years roughly but I will never pay again and I think other apps give more freedom and respect their customers who are paying money for service. There is block option for any other member who is not happy to talk with someone else. No need for the app team to act like parents to ban any one...! The app is in its declining.
I still have to thank the app for taking the step for me to stop using it as I was always thinking I have to stop in some point to save more time in other useful things for me in my life save money that I pay on this app and then my account got closed!

Bloody app!
July 4, 2017

It is the worst, the most racist and discriminating gay app on earth. I have come across tons of profiles which showcase their torsos [headless images] and even the butts and they are all passed the "moderation check", while I had tried a number of times uploading similar image and they keep rejecting it.

I strongly believe those bloody racists staffs working in front of their computers are the racists ones and bloody daft. This would be my last membership with them and would never come back to this bloody app!

I was spammed several times a day. Eventually I reported every spam hoping it would stop. It increased and then I was banned from using the app. Horrible business model.

Grindr regularly bans accounts without warning and with no justification given for the ban. Most of the time it is for some minor infraction that they could have just warned you about and then let you get back to grinding.

I was telling someone about an event happening (a Pride party) in NYC and when they asked for more information I just gave them the website. Well, that got reported as spam and Grindr banned me without any warning. When I contacted them they said I violated the Terms of Service by sending spam and that my account would not be turned back on.

The problem for me and them is that I had a Grindr Xtra Subscription.

If you have a paid subscription, ask immediately for a refund when they ban you. If they refuse, don't play nice with them anymore. Immediately contact your bank or credit card issuer and file a dispute.

The dispute process immediately results in the money you paid being clawed back ($10 for a monthly subscription) and them receiving a chargeback fee which usually ranges between $50-$100, depending on who their credit card processor is. That means they need to get 6 new monthly subscriptions to make up for the one dispute you processed and possibly more depending on their actual fee.

If enough people do this, they will have to change their policies and start listening, or they can potentially have their CC processing terminated by their processor if they rack up enough disputes. It's nearly impossible to get a new one if that happens.

Don't let Grindr walk all over you. Just let their customer service know that you will be disputing the charge unless they give you an immediate refund or remove the ban.

I have been on this site for a few years recently they have gotten out of control with spammers trying to get you to go to other sites. This seems to be more prevalent on the subscription account. The account I pay for is spammed 20 times an hour, which discourages me to use it. I have a friend we tried with his free account and surprise, not a single spammer. They have to be allowing this activity in an attempt to generate more income. I do not see anything on the web where Grindr is suing anybody or taking any legal action for interfering with their business, so it must be a partnership. Oh well, I am now saving money every month.

App Sucks
June 12, 2017

This app totally sucks. Been getting "photo" bombed by fake accounts that tell you to go to a paid site. Then you can't delete the fake accounts because you've reached your limit for the day, but of course if you want to pay more money then you can delete more accounts. Total waste of time.

So, my account was suspended, apparently because I didn't follow the guidelines. I never wrote anything inappropriate in my profile nor would ever publicly post a nude picture. I've only been on it for like 2 weeks! I contacted them and after reviewing my account they re-implemented it. Then shortly after going back on it, surprise, I was banned again! After reaching out to them, their response was: "Your account will remain permanently banned" and that they can ban people for no reason.

I have found Grindr to be nothing more than a pic collector playground. People are rude. They are blunt they come out and tell you what they want, what they expect! And if they are not into you, they will let you know how gross and disgusting you are and that they're not interested. There is no civility on the site. Most people just want to trade pics and that's it and once you trade the pics they will put your $#*! on block so fast your head will spin. This is the ugly side of what gay life has become. And Grindr does nothing to soften the blow. I absolutely find it repulsive. If you don't have a poor self-image once you initiate your profile, you sure will walk away with one after it's all said and done.

Not Bad.
June 16, 2016

I don't hate Grindr as much as everyone else seems to. I think my expectations might just be lower. It's a good app for what it is. Met some cool guys from it in the past. Fianced and I use it still.

Quite a failure
May 7, 2016

An abysmal mess slow annoying and slow. You'd be far better avoiding the rude and nasty and just not interested people who hoover around this site. Go to a bar or join a social group it will be miles better than this awful attempt at geo location chat app. It wont even let you log out so you end up stuck with it till you delete the app

WOW... I thought grindr would be a great app to use for meeting other gay guys in my community... I'd rather go to a gay bar and drink myself to drunkenness!

Not as people claim and not worth the $11 price for full features. The app is as worse as adam4adam considering that it leans to be more date/meet-up and hang out oriented, but the first thing you'll notice are torso pics galore. It's like their habitat is growing! The other is the downright aggressiveness and rudeness of the members when they message you as they demand face pics and private pics to the point that its frighteningly harassing, and are just too horny or holier than thou to have any civility. If you're not their type, they'll let you know bluntly themselves or in their profiles with passive aggressiveness of threats, even if you just want friendship or just to hang out. When you initiate a conversation, it aren't anything to write to your mother about as the people want to know where you are, demand photos, or talk about how horny they are almost 30 seconds in. That or they don't respond at all and not even provide a courtesy message and don't like ice-breaking "small-talk" (they pretty much Inceptioned the ice with the way they behave, though)

There are diamonds in the rough, but it's just not worth the wait. Other than the community the app itself is bad with their sketchy rules on pictures as if you show "a little" too much skin, any piece of underwear, it results in banishment without much of a warning and it happens to only a handful of members when there's an abundance of them. There's also the spam "too-good-to-be-true" messages where an attractive guy messages you in a frisky mood and tries to get you to pay more for a webcam chat feature. Honestly, what has the gay community come to? If you like a community like this, then good luck.
